when browsing for books to read, i always look for book reviews. that is why i bring you my end of the year book tag of 2024 that quickly turned into a very chatty / ranty video about some of the new book releases coming in 2024 (and also, some popular book releases), best books of 2024, books i still need to finish, some season recommendations, etc. booktube has talked about some of these 2024 book releases… but have you heard of them? i hope you guys enjoy this one and come out with more books to add to your TBR and some good book recommendations for 2024!

Everytime Mel hypes up monk and robot, I'll be right here saying hell yeah!
OMG I’m so excited to hear your thoughts on Rain of Shadows and Endings!! I really hope you love it ❤
1. I don’t have any on going books
2. Transitional books for me would be phantasma and one dark window
3. My most anticipated was Skyshade which already came out
4. Books to read before the end of the year would be redeeming 6, when the moon hatched and an ember in the ashes
5. I’m hopeful to find more books that would become my faves but so far I’ve found a few. They’re empire of storms, binding 13, reckless by Elsie silver, and the crimson moth
6. For the new year I want to try new author and/or intimidating authors
⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️
A Psalm for the Wild-Built is on my TBR for the end of the year. Hoping for my hold to come in from the library soon! 📚
You are my favorite booktuber and honestly your videos got me back into reading❤
can i just say you are literally my favourite booktuber i love your energy
Thursday Murder Club is one of my fave book series! I def recommend it!
it's a good day when a MelReads video drops 🗡
Mel, you said you’re looking for vampire romance books. Have you checked out The Blackdagger Brotherhood? The first book is Dark lover by JR Ward. Dark urban vampire brotherhood full of representation across the board, mute, blind, gay/bi etc. you don’t have to read the full series but at least the first few books. There’s also Minion by LA Banks. Awesome!
your shelves look incredible!! 😻
the thursday murder club was a book i finished out of spite lol. there were so many tangents and filler writing, i just finished it to be done with it.
Hearing that Becky might release a nother book in that series has me waiting for it to come out so ican buy the set ehehee🐉🐉🐉
Love this! I think you will find your 2024 read before end of the year! ⚔️ 🐉
I love the videos of you doing finish book series ❤ 🗡️
A book that I started this year that I still need to finish is oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson. It’s a 1200 page book so it’s taking me a long time. The Stormlight archive series is really good though and definitely worth it. 3 books I want to read before the end of the year are: The Songbird and the Heart of Stone by Carissa Broadbent, Nightbane by Alex Aster, and Killer Instinct by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. These are all sequels to other books in the series.
⚔ I have the same edition of the Fellowship and you just reminded me that my own personal challenge is to read one book of LotR each year until I finish (I need to start The two towers) as a promise to my husband, who loves this story
I need to finish reading Beasts of Prey. I started it in August and haven’t picked it back up again since then.
Mel please tell me where your glasses are from- they are gorgeous!
I am going to move up - one dark window- 💕💕🖤 also love your glasses lady, love to see your beautiful face💜💜
I DNFd Chain Gang All Stars at 60% but definitely plan to pick it back up! Just need to make a chart to keep track of everyone 😮💨
I had a very similar experience with The Thursday Murder Club, but after page 100 (yeah, a bit late) I felt dragged into the story and then it got very good. I'm still trying book 2 in the series, hopefully it won't take 100 pages to fell interested
Just so you know a witches guide to magical Innkeeping is not coming out till March. The release date got pushed back sadly.
Where are your glasses from? I absolutely love them!
So funny I also started a game of thrones too and still need to finish it ,50% in. lol towards the end of the year I had a slump in reading…started 7 books but haven’t finished not a one. I think I will not be buying any new books until I finish my 7 😅
yay, so excited to watch!
girl i love your videos sooo much!
1. need to finish the duology of These Violent Ends (absolutely recommend) and Six of Crows
2. don't have a transitional book at the moment
3. most anticipated is Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor and Loca by Alejandro Heredia - CHECK THEM OUT! I totally think they could interest you
4. Books to read before the end of the year is The Hemlock Cure by Joanne Burn and one of the poetry collection's I recently bought from World Poetry Books (totally recommend! They put the translation and original writing next to it which I adore)
also question- I really want to start a secret santa/ book swap with people in the book community but have no idea how :( I don't have a crazy amount of friends interested and thought I'd pass the question onto you. Thanks!
i actually do like the peter jackson movies more than i like actual books
DNF that Thursday Murder Club, gal. I wish I got the hype, but I also had a super duper hard time finishing.
1 - i started emily wilde book one this year and i havent finished it yet but i want to restart it though and really read it all at once. i also started sam wu isnt afriad of sharks and i have been enjoying it, i just havent been in the mood to continue yet.
2 - it is spring here and almost into summer. no plans on specific books i mood read not seasonal read.
3 - no, both books i was waiting for came out this year and both are read. Erin a Craigs the thirteenth child. and the apprentice to the villain by Hannah M
4 - emily wilde book one , the undertaking of hart and mercy , sam wu isnt afriad of sharks
5 - i dont think so, my fave so far is apprentice to the villain. though i have interest in a dark romance which i have not been much in this genre called lights out. so maybe if i get to it this year?
6 - no i want to but it never works for me with mood reading. but i like to have a few books in mind that i am more interested in than others and i go from there.
❤📚📚❤️ Great tag video. Thanks for sharing. 🗡
Not 15 pages in 😂😂
My Fall Pick: The very secret society of irregular witches and Before the coffee gets cold
3 books I want to read before the end of the year: the most wonderful crime of the year by Ally Carter, Heartbreak is the national anthem by Rob Sheffield, The love hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood (this is my first I'm so excited!)
Potential favorite: I just don't know
Making plans for next year? Kind of I'm doing a challenge for the year I'm 29 vs for 2025
I just finished Chain Gang All-Stars on my third attempt at starting it. It's amazingly written and the story is very good, but the content is heavy and hard to read at times.
⚔️✨
You DO NOT need to read mistborn to read storm light archive. I promise you.

Personally I loved The Lord of the Rings but I highly recommend starting with The Hobbit! I don't like the movies as they have little to do with the book, I think they are the worst adaptation ever made lol

I have read around 25-30 books for the past 2 years and i currently have 30 books in my tbr, so i think my reading plan next year is to have a buying ban and get through my physical tbr🫡
Let's be real .... Do book buying bans ever work lol😅
