Doesn’t matter where the border falls now in the 21st century. We Mexicans are ingrained in the fabric of the SW United States and beyond. Very proud to be Mexican as well as American. Thanks for the video.
New video uploaded from my favorite geography youtuber just when I was reading a book about the history of the border between Mexico and the US, talking about these exact topics. A welcomed coincidence.
What a great video. Americans were ignorant, ignorant, ignorant about the map of Texas and the western territories. The discovery of gold in California occurred with Anza long before Marshall was born. Everything after that was propaganda. The South was meeting to build a railroad to California, but was sidetracked by the North's commencement of the Civil War. An American officer named Emory laid out the boundary line with Mexico. It took blood, sweat, and tears to walk that thing across. And he deserves the credit for the work. Thanks for your work.
It is not stealing from you, if you don’t legitimately own it. Ownership of land comes from exploration, occupation and use of the land. The Indians of those parts of North America were the legitimate owners - not Mexico.
Don’t look to much into the title. It’s a play on words from a popular UA-cam video How the US Stole Mexico. Just showing people this video adds to that story.
Glad I found your site. With all the errors on the early maps, too bad they didn't have someone like David Thompson, fur traders for the Hudson's Bay Company. His maps were incredibly accurate.Thomas Jefferson showed one to Meriweather Lewis, before his journey to the mouth of the Columbia River.
The Mexican culture might be affected so that's a bad idea, it's better to have 2 Mexicos, one that isn't prosperous but preserving it's culture, and another one more prosperous but lacking more Mexicancy.
It was not negociated. The line was imposed there because the density of chicanos population under the line was too much for the wasp power....to push the line down more.
The new nation of Mexico had little use for it. They viewed it as 1500 miles away by horseback, populated by hostiles, mostly wasteland, with only a few thousand Spaniards in Santa Fe and Californios - and they wanted to be left alone anyhow.
Little use? A literal war was fought. 100,000 mexicans called it home. Them wanting more autonomy and having it had been the status quo since independence. It wasn't too different from states rights in the US and people identifying with their state

Spaniards in Santa Fe? 😂😂😂😂😂 those people were mostly mestizos of the local Indians and Europeans or even hispanized indians, few Spaniards went there a wasteland for them, most choose to go to either Lima or Mexico city
Thank you RareMaps.com for supporting another video! This video would have not been possible with them.

This is some sweet geography geek action.
People of Mexican heritage are the largest identifiable single group in the United States.
A very diverse group of people with with many ethnic backgrounds, kind of like Americans

That’s pretty cool. I appreciate the kind words!
What a great video.
Americans were ignorant, ignorant, ignorant about the map
of Texas and the western territories.
The discovery of gold in California occurred with Anza long
before Marshall was born. Everything after that was propaganda.
The South was meeting to build a railroad to California, but
was sidetracked by the North's commencement of the Civil War.

with Mexico. It took blood, sweat, and tears to walk that thing
across. And he deserves the credit for the work.
Thanks for your work.
@railway8809 Wow that poor Emory, I hope the poor señor wasn't traumatised. 🌵🪴🍷😲 🌺🌵
They should have lowered the border, allowing Arizona a coastline.
Will there be a test on this ?
Good editing! I always look forward to your video’s. 💯
Thank you! I’ve been learning some new stuff
William Walker later took over Nicaragua for a couple of years.
William Walker realized his just desserts, being executed for his "superior" gringo machinations.
Awesome dude

I’m glad you found me! I actually talk a bit about David Thompson in my Lewis and Clark videos. I may make a video dedicated to him at some point.
A lot of rich history in the early 1800s that rarely get talked about now. Thank you for sharing
Hey, did you take down your vid about China?
Somebody talking about this is Rare
Great video.
Thank you!
Now as karma you have thousands of Venezuelans at your door 😂
Most Mexicans want to be in the U.S. anyways, the U.S. should have just annexed Mexico.
The Mexican culture might be affected so that's a bad idea, it's better to have 2 Mexicos, one that isn't prosperous but preserving it's culture, and another one more prosperous but lacking more Mexicancy.
Neat little history tidbits in here. We could have had Baja? The French wanted Sonora? Major land purchases. Is it too late to buy Greenland? 😁
Good work.
Thank you!
Thank you.
What border?
It's only a suggestion at this point
Not accurate at all.. but this is the power of social media. If it's on UA-cam, it must be true
It was not negociated. The line was imposed there because the density of chicanos population under the line was too much for the wasp power....to push the line down more.
Thank you for the video. Mexico would be an international superpower if not for it's territorial losses to US
Its not stealing when you pay for it
Or even conquer.
They lost the war so they were forced to "sell" it to the US
The title is more of a play on words of a popular UA-cam video called “How the US Stole Mexico”
Right of conquest is a thing, that’s been accepted historically.
It was actually stolen
It wasn't a map, it always has been USA "bringing democracy" this is anti -historical video
We could’ve had all of Baja and Sonora? We could’ve been the home of fish tacos?
The new nation of Mexico had little use for it. They viewed it as 1500 miles away by horseback, populated by hostiles, mostly wasteland, with only a few thousand Spaniards in Santa Fe and Californios - and they wanted to be left alone anyhow.
Makes no sense
You realize what you've stated still applies to this day, right?
Little use? A literal war was fought. 100,000 mexicans called it home. Them wanting more autonomy and having it had been the status quo since independence. It wasn't too different from states rights in the US and people identifying with their state
