- Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky said the country remains "determined" to liberate all of its territory after Russian president Vladimir Putin declared the annexation of four occupied regions.
In a speech in Moscow, the Russian leader claimed citizens in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia in the south had voted to be "with their people, their motherland".
Mr Zelensky has vowed to liberate all Ukrainian territories, including Crimea - Ukraine's southern peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014. And he also ruled out any further negotiations with Mr Putin.

Zelensky knows that Ukraine's membership into NATO is not realistic.
He wants to prove that Russia's aggression in Ukraine is now having the opposite results that Putin wants.
If Ukraine does not join NATO, eventually Russia will invade again when it's stronger. So in the long run, you'll send more money and more supplies, which you can't always do. Plus, that stuff about a target on your back- If there is anything to learn from this conflict, it's that the Russian armed forces such and cannot hope to win against an alert and enlarged NATO in a million years.
