I keep a balm in my pocket that I made out of Shea butter, pine resin, and hemp oil. I use it on my lips and on minor cuts. I put a dab on the bearing block so there is less friction there, and the friction is only on the bottom of the spindle. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching and for the comment. 🙏
@@thewildernessphilosopher it is those of us who watch that thank you. I find your posts to be “real” so to speak. I personally am able to relate to them more than other sites where the presenter is always talking or trying to sell something.
Dear Wilderness Philosopher, I like the surroundings and the rich sounds of it. Seems to be the right place for an over nighter under a tarp. I saw in your videos that you are handling open fire with a lot of care. I have heard in the news about that there is a crisis because of dryness in Italy at present time. Aren't you afraid about a woods fire? Thanks for your video.
Hello, and thanks for the kind words. Regarding fires,I would not make one in a pine forest at this time. You're absolutely right. Where I go used to be a quarry, and under a little bit of dirt is a whole lot of rock. I also build the fire on a pile of rocks and never leave it unattended. No roots are affected and there's no moss whatsoever. If the location was different, my gas stove would be the only thing I would use, if that, unless it had been raining. 👍
Excellent! Thank you for sharing this. May I ask what the substance you used was on the Bow Drill?
Just something like Vaseline or??

Absolutely textbook
Thank you Sean Thomas. ....except when the spindle popped out 😅
Great outing.
Always look forward to some time by the fire.
Thank you Just Us. Yeh, a fire is the television of the woods. 🙂
Another wonderful video. Hearing the wild boar must have been spooky but lovely to hear.
Thank you Ian.
You nailed it. Cool and a bit worrisome, for sure. But VERY cool. 😃
Great video man! I really enjoyed it, thank you for sharing. Best regards..
Thanks very much, Alex. I appreciate that.

Thank YOU, John. Appreciate you watching.
Good job on the bowdrill I've not done that for a long time I really like that tarp been thinking about getting one atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Thank you Lundy. The tarp is a great investment, but it is heavy. I would rather be more traditional and carry more weight, though.
