    I purchased this piano in the white from Amazon and have had it for about a week now and really trying to like and keep it. Prior to purchasing watched all of the you tube shootout’s reviews, and comparison videos beforehand. In every case the audio quality was pristine and had a clarity and sparkle throughout the entire range of the keyboard. This clarity seems to be absent from my unit with the exception of the top three octaves. It’s hard to describe as I can hear that the quality of the samples are there, they simply lack that pristine audio quality heard in the videos. It’s certain that those pianos in the videos are coming out of the line out outputs and running through some EQ and additional signal processing. Thinking that perhaps it was the acoustics in my room I took the unit out and played it in church today with no improvement in the sonic quality, so I’m thinking of returning it and purchasing the RD 88. I already own the RD2000 so am certainly able to make a comparison but it’s too big to haul back and forth. I got this piano for the portability. Has any other owners experienced what I’m talking about?

    One thing I noticed is that the Roland FP-30X has a darker default piano tone than the other two. I'm eyeing the FP-30X just for the key action alone.

      The Roland FP-10 is much cheaper and has the exact same (PHA-4 Standard) key action, you might want to check that out too.

    kawai piano sounds so natural. The touch is lighther than the other two. The price is much lower compared with them. The Ep sound is so warmth and so rich. The dynamics of kawai is very responsive. These are personal comments. Every musician hears and feels differently from others.

  • @benjaminsmith2287
    @benjaminsmith2287 2 роки тому +11

    I appreciate someone playing with dynamics and playing pieces that show some level of different colors of the piano. This was well played. These keyboards are all fine. The 30X probably has the most tonal variation, the ES110 has the usual full Kawai sound with good sustain and the Yamaha has that clear tone that also is expressive. It's all down to preference. I does seem Roland and Yamaha have less complaints and problems than the digital Kawais from what I've read on digital piano forums.

      @@connorsmith2665 I have and play extensively for solo and various types of band gigs, a Kawai ES4 for 14 years, always was/is dependable, it still plays beautifully. Three weeks ago, I finally bought a Kawai ES110, wow what an upgrade in all piano playing/sounding ways, notwithstanding the 19 pound reduction in overall weight from the es4 to the es110. I believe based on my 14 year ownership experience with the kawai es4 that the 110 should be comparably reliable. Just my 2 cents. Others on this and other internet forums would/might say YMMV.

    Have the Roland FP30X and the Yamaha P121, also Kawai CA. Playing the Roland is incredibly emotional, especially when tuned with the piano designer. I forget the time with it, every time again! Yamaha sounds nice, neutral and clear but it's not nearly the same league as Roland (but it's way more transportable). Kawai's sound is behind, but the CA wood action is a class of it's own. For practice ideal and near to a good upright piano action. This video shows the sound differences pretty good. Better than other comparison videos. All are sounding good only with headphones, of course.

    Roland FP-30x still has the speakers facing the floor. Which is terrible because the sound does not propagate the way it should. Kawai also has the grill facing down the floor but it also has a small part of the grill facing up. Which is cool. You did not talk about the missing "Sympathetic Resonance" of the fp-30x (Roland's SuperNATURAL sounds.... like SuperNaturalMissingSounds). Even with the new model, Roland doesn't have a clear sympathetic sound. No one talks about this. Everyone talks about the action and the USB capabilities. Not to mention the amazing pedal that comes with the ES110...

      I know this is Kawai ES-110 in this video, and I know it's a different price range, but just for example, I think the Kawai ES-120 sounds better than all of these 3, if I would want to buy 1 of these 3 and not too much in a hurry to buy, then I would save up for the Kawai ES-120 instead.
      The ES-120 has the very realistic sounding SK-EX piano sound too, and much better speakers compared to the ES-110, so the ES-120 doesn't lack the bass so much like the ES-110 does.
