I didn't see this on TV at the time, so it's nice to watch it for the first time. Emily Scarratt and Marlie Packer are still going strong for England, and Sarah Hunter has only just retired (March 2023). The England women turned professional in 2019. Great credit to these women who are true dedicated amateurs.
Rewatching this reminds me why Alphonsi is called 'The Machine'... 71 minutes into a RWC final and still making it to every other breakdown, turning ball over and tackling anything that moves. I'm a sucker for the unsung workhorses of the back row and she definitely epitomises that this game.
Both sides were Brilliant in their own way Canada never gave up and fought till the very end England were just phenomenal in everything they did
