- Leaving Moore on our new Electric Narrowboat near Stockton Heath we witness some amazing scenery and skies on the Bridgewater Canal. We then travel on our 60" boat to Lymm for mother's day and onto Dunham Massey, the scene of the 1971 breach. A stunning sunrise as we leave really early on an epic (for a narrowboat) 15 mile journey to Bedford Basin in Leigh.

Nice start to this week’s vlog with your washing hanging up on the stern of the boat.
Anthony that’s a very nice picture of you and your Mum.
As always, I enjoyed your chat and banter cruising along. However you did look a little cold.
Watching Paul preparing to leave a mooring, the step from the towpath to the bow deck seemed quite steep which I had not noticed before, likewise the stern deck still looked a good step up from the towpath, but not as high as the bow. I think I would need a gangplank to get on board via the bow.
Dexter was very wise to stay indoors as it was cold
You have great routines such as when you moor up or prepare to leave, what great team-work.
Paul, your Fox drawing looks amazing. Such a talent you have.
I liked the way Anthony gave Dexter a haircut, and how cute was Dexter, as he just stood there and let Anthony do it.
Talking about hair, Anthony your hair has grown very thick (I’m only jealous) and it’s looking really good.
That was a lovely-looking house on the junction of the canal. What an amazing location to live at.
Poor Anthony is covered in mud riding his Bike. What a gent Paul was, putting Anthony’s bike away.
I liked it when you arrived at the Marina in preparation for the work Darren was going to do, when Anthony threw his arms around and lady he had never met before who greeted him. That was so nice.
I hope Darren works his magic for you both.

Hey Spoolbox. I was only saying today how washing is the only part of boat life that I still find difficult. Much easier as the temp warms up. Glad my Mum got to finally see the boat.

There were some lovely houses on this cruise.
The tow paths have been horrific and only yesterday, myself and the bike were caked in mud.

A truly lovely vlog. I loved how your boat being so quiet made one able to hear the piping voices of the children, which is always magical! (Honestly, I did not notice it being much louder.) It was good to see a towpath report from Anthony on his bike. I was thinking that Anthony must really be getting fit with all that bicycling! And is it my imagination, or is the Bridgewater an incredibly well-maintained stretch of canal? And finally, there was one particularly lovely shot of the boat in the dark, with the little cover lit up in the night. I hope you three have a lovely week.
Aww. Loved how innocent the kids were asking if I was catching fish. I thought it was time so showed my journey back to the van. The Bridgewater is run by Peel Holdings and not CRT and yep, very well maintained. Loved seeing the boat all lit. Looked so welcoming. Have a fab weekend ❤️

You do great juggling the van with boat. The positive is that its a good work out, especially if you have to cycle on wet, muddy, rough tow paths. Although it does look stark with no leaves on the trees etc, it has its own beauty before the leaves arrive back. Such mixed weather, but surely now Spring has arrived to stay --please. I find it incredible that you’ve had to source your own advice and fix for the electrical issues you’ve had on the boat. Were Oakums not capable of fixing it? They don’t seem to be a very reliable or knowledgeable company at all!

Happy weekend! 🥰 I have to say 7AM is ridiculous. Just no reason for people to be up that early. 😉 Sunrise is nice but I am content to see a sunset instead. 😋 It was a lovely morning but seemed very cold which is another reason to stay in bed.
The bike ride to get the van was a long one even with an electric bike. I'm sure muddy towpaths can win over any kind of bike. I'm sure dealing with the mud gets very old even with having your little mud room. I saw that you are having a partial solar eclipse on April 8th. It's going to be a total eclipse here. Central Indiana is exactly on the path so they are making a big deal of it. 🌚🌞 There is a lot going on with watch parties and such. I have my verified eclipse glasses ready. 😊 I hope your head is feeling better by now.

Cold here too guys but days are lovely thankfully as it’s our market day today. Amazing the difference between winter and summer, well really spring and autumn, with the trees but that winter leafless can still be very pretty just doesn’t look good going along the canal. I just commented to Henri that I thought the boat was louder than normal. Good to see your mum Anthony. Great to see the three of you, see you next week. 💕

If you were at some distance and needed, say, a part for a repair how would you arrange delivery so you could install it and get underway again? Or are you limited in your range by things like mail and access to the van/work?

Paul, you do magic shows? How interesting! What unusual weather we’ve been having here in the middle of Canada. Looks like your weather is off there too. We’re having a global crisis, aren’t we? We’ve had very little snow this winter and that will have a big effect on the farm’s fields and wells. Our summers have been getting hotter and hotter every year too. The forest fire season has already started out west in Alberta. Dexter’s such a handsome boy especially with a little trim.

We commented a few months ago when you were near us stuck at the lock closure in Middlewich. Our boat built in Middlewich is near to completion and we are looking for insurance but have quotes from two companies at nearly £700 and two others at £300. What are we missing? Same cover of a £150k boat, same excess and cover, but GJW and HKG are much more expensive than MR or I4B. Who do you use and why?

We had the same re insurance. GJW seemed to be the most expensive. We use Craft Insure but have used insure for boats in the past.

I really like the colour of your boat, and in your latest vlog you mentioned that you don't have a stove for health reasons...can I ask what that was as I have just brought a boat with a stove and just wondered if it was to do with asthma or allergies? Thank you. The stove was due to asthma. I loved it but the dust made my chest bad in winter.

How do you cope with the noise from the electric motor on your boat. I'm finding it really annoying I'd rather the chugging of a old engine the whine is awful.
I only said the same today. It only does it at certain RPM’s. We are hoping to get it sorted when they come to do the stern thruster. It needs the prop bending slightly.
