I am a beginner to woodwork, the main test I have with this bundle ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxTNB_zFBSnTo_O1PqfVUwgi7ityw0JlKt is that I think that its hard to settle on a choice of the plan and outline to use as there are a large portion of them there. Nonetheless, I like the simple stride to step directions laid out there.
Removed a section in my camper where the entertainment area is and installed. Works great. Instead of propane furnace heat, I can use this ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxATHBlMJwipGgVWseuAFKvDQ_5R4_lywo to heat the camper as long as it's hooked up to shore power. Only thing I do not like is there does not seem to be a thermostat. I'm presuming it has a built-in one so it does not overheat. Really like all the other color options it has to offer.
I would never pain it, but each to their own. But when painting I would recommend starting at the top n working down so you don't get drips on work you have already completed.
Here in Finland it has been a trend last 15 years or so, to paint everything white. I understand, some people like it, and it's fine for me. I was working as an electrician for 14 years and I mostly was doing houses for people. I didn't like the white and everything looked like a hospital or Ikea catalog, so now when I have my own homestead, I can do what I like. So I don't have any walls with white paint, just window and door frames and it decorates nicely. I have some cabinet doors white, but they are MDF anyway. I have coloured walls and I do some of the furniture my self, to get some natural wines with wood and rocks would be super cool, like that fireplace. But people like white, they even paint log houses white, so I think in the future new trend is to remove white paint and let it look natural again :D But this fireplace looks awesome white too. So everybody should do what they like. Good job. I love the mantel.
Turned out better than I thought it would in white. A light white wash would’ve looked good too I think with some of the natural stone colors peaking through. Really like that reclaimed mantle, love the look of those rich wood colors.
It looks great! I have a brick fireplace that I painted white and it has a reclaimed wood mantle like yours too. I love mine as much as I love yours. Thanks so much for sharing.
I think it looks 1000% better painted with that mantel. Props for doing what you wanted, against the mass advice, and making it look just like you saw it!
God this beam is absolutely gorgeous. This turned out very well. Hopefully you enjoy it for years. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend Johnny. Keep making. God bless.
At the rate that painted brick and stone goes out and back in to style, I would never, but ya know, looks good (for now :P give it 5 years and who knows)
Mantle looks really great, those rough sawn marks are priceless and show it is a real piece of history >100 to 120 years old. Should have never painted that stone though - almost couldn't even watch (like a slow moving train wreck....).
Looks good, but I must say how much I love your house/home 😍😍😍 wish I'd moved to the USA all those years ago when I had the opportunity..... And was young! Thanks for another great video.
Around 3:40 you were standing on the left side of the frame, close to the camera and, because it is wide angle lens with distortion, you look like a body builder hehehehe. Looks wonderful !! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 You 're probably expecting heavy presents ;-)
Absolutely beautiful house. Not a fan of the white paint, but not my house. I can see why though, ties in the exposed wood roof beams and white walls. That mantle is super cool.
They were right. The white paint looks horrible. You destroyed the stone. The stone was providing a nice contrast with the white walls. Now, what was supposed to be a focal point, just blends in with the surrounding walls
My wife and i looked at buying that hluse at one point but we just dont want neighbor's that close to us. Its a nice house and with what you are doing it will look amazing.
Yeah, the white was a great call to break up all the blonde in that room. And leaving the bolts visible for the mantle was a great call. As a former HE mechanic, the history of bridging is cool to see in a home, even if I can't see the line there.
For the hole transference, put some lip stick on the all thread you were going to use and stick that through the hole in the mantle. That should do the trick.
You could have used the one in a quarter inch nap roller for applied for material and then brush around in a Whizz roller for the pulling up by the ceiling you'll find a material would have went a lot fast forward. Looks good me personally I wouldn't have painted it your mantle is awesome thanks for sharing.
To mark the beams hole placement on the plywood template you could’ve sprayed a little spray paint through the holes on the beam to mark the spots on the plywood
I was cleaning after a investment flipping business. One place had a 30 glass block wall area, and a crystal chandelier. I have no fear of heights, it’s just the up and down if you forgot anything. 😳
I agree with some other commenters.. I'm not a fan at all of the white. I am a purist when it comes to a lot of natural mediums (wood, stone, brick, etc.). I do love the mantel though, so I'm not going to dislike the video. I usually love your work, so I'll give you half credit on this one.
It turned out great, although I can't see the line. Wasn't too sure about the white paint, but it really goes well with the style and decor of your home.
I like the white, but it does seem (on video at least) that it clashes with the wall colour? Like the fireplace is a blue base white and the walls are a red base. Can't see the line...
Soooo...I think the issue is with personal tastes... does the white look bad... no... but that's your taste. you have a modern taste so it really works. Is it my taste no but it doesn't look bad. I like the more rustic look so I love the stone and beam... but figure out how to install that is important I need to do it so it was helpful and I found a place with reclaimed beams. But I doooo have to mention... that dooooooor though, bro. That door is stunning.
Can’t see the line. I like the dark walnut with the resaw lines showing. Glad you didn’t go finer than 120. Might have come off a little waxy looking. Looks great and keep them coming.
Your woodworking skills are amazing. But that white painted stone looks like phony stones sold at a big box store. Really takes away from the beauty of the room.

I personally would not have painted it, but it's yours and if you like it....awesome!
Bit of brick acid on there to clean it up, would've looked real nice
@@pander2553 Exactly. Would have been halfway between what it was and where it went. This will be nearly impossible to fix in the future.

the fireplace is amazing, the white color makes it look much more modern! good job Jonny!
The fireplace looks so much better - you definitely did the right thing to paint it. The mantel is beautiful.
Looks awesome!! Painting it white makes it look so much better and more current with the times!!!
I didn’t think I would like it painted white but I have to say I do like it white. It opens the room up even more 👌🏼
I’ve gotta say the White Chimney looks pretty good with the White Room. Awesome job.
It turned out really nice.
God this beam is absolutely gorgeous. This turned out very well. Hopefully you enjoy it for years. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend Johnny. Keep making. God bless.
Looking good man! White was a good choice. 👊🏻
Loved the end of video with your wife and the dogs!
Mantel looks great.
Can’t see the line. Proud wife!! Love it!
This was so sick! Nice work, Jonny!
That a baller mantle! Love it.
Great white pants!!!
Awesome job!!! Looks very elegant with the white contrast
At the rate that painted brick and stone goes out and back in to style, I would never, but ya know, looks good (for now :P give it 5 years and who knows)

Nice job, son! It looks really great. Can't wait to see it in person!!!
Looks great. That's a monster of a mantel.
Looks good, but I must say how much I love your house/home 😍😍😍 wish I'd moved to the USA all those years ago when I had the opportunity..... And was young!
Thanks for another great video.

Acid then lime wash or lime wash paint. But I'm far too late.
Stunning
I'm personally against painting stone/brick but some folks love it. The mantle looks great against the white though!
Chainsaw blade? It’s a “chain” saw. You don’t just replace when dull, you sharpen with a file. Project still turned out great haha.
Exactly. Just sharpen it. I really don't understand "handy" people who don't maintain their tools.
Beautiful work, dude! It really looks amazing in there! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
So excited to see your home makeover...this is the content I've been waiting for! (Can't see the line)
I love the way it turned out!! I was worried when you said "stain", but it's perfect.
Looks great but let’s talk about your front door! Looks like something you’d find on a castle! Nice.
Looks fantastic
Stunning. Great work.
GREAT JOB !
Absolutely beautiful house. Not a fan of the white paint, but not my house. I can see why though, ties in the exposed wood roof beams and white walls. That mantle is super cool.
Can’t see the line...love the white and wood together. Enhances the drama of the fireplace as the main focal point.
Just needs a friggin big ol Christmas wreath above it! Awesome work, man! Love to see you making your dream house your own.
That beam looks GOR. GEOUS 😍 ♥️. Even more so up against that white fireplace making it the focal point. Happy holidays 🎄🎅🏻🤶🍷
They were right. The white paint looks horrible. You destroyed the stone. The stone was providing a nice contrast with the white walls. Now, what was supposed to be a focal point, just blends in with the surrounding walls

amazing!!!
Who ever said you shouldn't paint it, is just wrong. This looks so good!! Love the look of the mantle too. "can't see the line"
Can't see the line. That looks so beautiful and you made it the way YOU want it. Really beautiful wood.
I wasn't thrilled about painting stone but it looks good💥
Be kind to each other. Stay safe. Love to all
nice work! I would have personally plugged the 2 holes with wood as it destroys the look for me
Awesome project! how Sid you know where the chimney was to know that you wouldn't pierce the chimney when drilling your holes in the brick?
For the hole transference, put some lip stick on the all thread you were going to use and stick that through the hole in the mantle. That should do the trick.
You could have used the one in a quarter inch nap roller for applied for material and then brush around in a Whizz roller for the pulling up by the ceiling you'll find a material would have went a lot fast forward. To mark the beams hole placement on the plywood template you could’ve sprayed a little spray paint through the holes on the beam to mark the spots on the plywood
The dark wood beam on the white rock came out beautiful
Very cool!
Should have stopped at the 2:50 mark. Add the mantel and you're done. Can't imagine ruining a perfectly good stone fireplace by painting it.
Exactly. Could you imagine the stone mason's reaction after seeing his work ruined?
"Today I'm giving my fireplace the ol landlord special"
Wow, your house is HUGE, my English bungalow would fit in jus ur lounge lol. Bit too much white for my taste, but it does look good x
That came out amazing Jonny! That beam is a beast of awesomeness, but I just can't see the line...
Can’t see the line 😉
Awesome video! Love it, from the uk!
Perfect!
Love it.
Bud that's beautiful! I worked in OC for a year.....you look more like your in some kind of ski resort in Colo.
Nice!
I was cleaning after a investment flipping business. One place had a 30 glass block wall area, and a crystal chandelier. I have no fear of heights, it’s just the up and down if you forgot anything. 😳
Which line? LOL...great job man, loving the house so far
I thought it was going to look really bad painted white and I was absolutely right
The only reason I would ever paint a stone fireplace like this is to light it up with some cool LED lights or projection lighting.
I agree with some other commenters.. I'm not a fan at all of the white. I am a purist when it comes to a lot of natural mediums (wood, stone, brick, etc.). I do love the mantel though, so I'm not going to dislike the video. I usually love your work, so I'll give you half credit on this one.
I like the original stone better then the painted. I think it would of looked better with that wood mantle
Craftsman 👍👍
Don't understand the appeal of painted brick/stone. I think it looks ugly AF :/
to each their own. looks good to me
It turned out great, although I can't see the line. Wasn't too sure about the white paint, but it really goes well with the style and decor of your home.
Beam looks fantastic. Paint looks awful to my eye. But you do you - I'm glad you like it.
I'd put some Super Blue on the bolts to blacken them. And I can't see the line.
Can’t see the line?! All of the Christmas Vacation clips fit so well. 👏🏼 great video!
I’m team ‘paint it white’ and I can’t see the line. Nice work. JB
Dang you messed that up
Cool mantle What happened to the Slabratory?
I would’ve just added the beam, but as they say it’s your time your money.
Can you give the info on where you got the beam?
I like the white, but it does seem (on video at least) that it clashes with the wall colour? Like the fireplace is a blue base white and the walls are a red base.
Can't see the line...

Would you put a second mantle on the opposite end,?
So many better ways to mount a mantel without the bolts showing.
can't see the line. Looks great and love that mantle.
first thing would have done on buying the house was paint the stone 8-) i would have sprayed it though after having painted brick walls in the past.
Can’t see the line. I like the dark walnut with the resaw lines showing. Glad you didn’t go finer than 120. Might have come off a little waxy looking. Looks great and keep them coming.
You can sharpen a chainsaw with rounds files. You shouldn’t be buying a new chain everytime it goes dull. Just a thought
U can definitely roll that
Can’t see the line and it’s great not to mention ties in with the ceiling beams
Can't see the line!! Love the look.
Jonny I feel your pain with painting once I painted a whole basement 😢😢😢😢
"safety first" should include some breathing protection when sanding, especially for that long.
This house looks like it needs at least 5 megawatts of energy per month to maintain any sort of livable temperature.
Your woodworking skills are amazing. But that white painted stone looks like phony stones sold at a big box store. Really takes away from the beauty of the room.
Can't see the line but the project turned out great!
For up under that beam, a roller would’ve been great…🤗 💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦💛💙
