Wow! Tu! These are incredible korero. This is the second full interview I have watched. I am Ngapuhi and met Gordon in his Mangere Studio and he tamoko my daughter. i was there. I was intrigued by Gordon. He is a very charismatic man. I was looking forward to this. He really is marvellous and just a legend as you say .....The thing that really took my breath away was his view on puhoro on women. I truly was totally educated by his words and had to put on the transcript to follow his words and I watched it over and over and took a copy of the transcript..The thing is I am a Ai digital artist and I have had some negative feedback on my art but now I know that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my art with the tamoko on my Maori Women, from a Ngapuhi point of view that is correct.. Thank you very much for this interview. Love your mahi. I posted(shared) this link on my digital creators facebook page Ai Tribe to educate them on mokoartists attitudes, beliefs and values.

A friend shared this interview with me and it’s completely changed my outlook on Moko. I’m from they generation of try not to rock the boat if you don’t know what your talking about. I do AI and it’s at its infancy doing ta Moko design and can’t really distinguish how or where to place Moko especially on women where AI will cover the whole face and body. Some AI digital creators are slowly figuring it out but designs are usually backwards or mismatched. Thanks for the interview! It’s given me some perspective on perhaps changing some of not only my perspective of the creation of the ta Moko but also who can and can’t wear it. Puhoro for women is mid blowing since there are so many somewhat traditionalists out there who have their strong views. But artists walk their own path I liked that.

Ah this is so cool. Enders Game was one of my favourite books growing up and when I saw the movie I was naturaly curios if Mazer was played by a Maori actor and he wasn't so I was quite disappointed. I had no idea the amount of thought that went into his Moko and how much effort they went to ensure its cultural relevance.
