- The Antonov An-225 Mriya (Cossack) was a strategic airlift cargo aircraft designed in the 1980s by the Antonov Design Bureau in Soviet Union. It was originally developed as an enlargement of the Antonov An-124 to transport Buran-class orbiters, and only one example was ever completed.
After successfully fulfilling its military missions, the aircraft was mothballed for eight years. It was then refurbished and reintroduced into commercial operation with Antonov Airlines, carrying oversized payloads. While a second airframe with a slightly different configuration was partially built, construction was halted more than once due to a lack of funding and interest.
With its ability to carry up to 640 tonnes (705 short tons) of payload, the An-225 held several records, including heaviest aircraft ever built and largest wingspan of any aircraft in operational service. The Mriya attracted a high degree of public interest, attaining a global following due to its size and its uniqueness.

My 18 years old son has been a lover of aircraft since he was a primary school pupil, and he is lamented to hear that the world`s largest cargo aircraft and the only Antonov An-225 has been destroyed by Russia recently. When the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred in 2011, Antonov An-225 had played an important role to send relief supplies to earthquake victims, and many Japanese people appreciate her contribution when we suffered a lot, and consider this plane as a symbol of Ukrainian-Japanese friendship. A lot of Japanese feel deep sorrow of the destruction of this great airplane, and wish the restoration of peace in Ukraine as soon as possible.

Your son probably knows what kind of bird it was built for, for an aerospace shuttle that made an unmanned landing, like today's drones do, on November 15, 1988. It was fired upon by Ukrainian artillery when operatives occupied the airfield. It's just that someone needs crappy pictures to "justify their foul deeds.

Sadly it's totalled I don't think it can be repaired but the thing is they say a 2nd one currently in manufacturing is hiding somewhere... Don't know about that..

Theres no acrual proof of it destroyed , that short clip of bunker you cant see the plane at all and the ariel shot shows you the tail of a plane without tail wings definetly not the 225 mriya

An-225 was a result of titanic work of all Soviet Union. Kiev base is just a factory. And Antonov KB (firm) was placed randomly - so as many other avia factories like Voronez, Kazan, Tashkent, Tbilisi

@@snowpuddle9622 Зачем мне искать. Я видел что там. А вот сам Антонов перейдя на мову, сильно ругался на российскую операцию, но сказал, что Мрия не досталась Российским войскам. Она вовремя улетела. А так же и ещё несколько самолётов успели улететь. Теперь они спокойно работают за границей.
