This is a first release of tenshu launched in japan, later they launch a better version (like a version 1.1 or something like that) in america and finally relaunched the improved version on japan as well... this was the first Tenshu I play, a friend from japan send it to me as a birthday gift, few weeks after its release.

I've never seen the original American intro until 2 minutes ago... I like this (Japanese intro) better, but than again, this is my childhood.

soul exodia this opening is only present in the Black Label version of the game. If he happened to have gotten the greatest hits version that you will have a different opening that swear it's a black and white filtered CGI intro. this opening was also present in the expansion pack for the game that was only released in Japan.
L1b3rta it was in the original release for Tenchu: Stealth Assassins. the greatest hits version had a different intro to go with it. if you happen to be on eBay looking for a copy of this game with the original intro, the way you could tell you're getting this game with the original intact is these two characteristics: 1. if its the black label one, then it means that the original opening is intact. 2. If the disc itself only has the american logo and not the japanese logo that is written on the side of the american logo.

just the other day literally found this and was quite thrilled the PS3 plays it!!

My brother had Tenchu: Stealth Assassins on PS1. The game had one of the best intro sequences of a video game ever. Epic at 0:49 and 1:09.
