1:56:00 i cannot believe nobody gave any pushback on this point, i think its an absolutely terrible idea. Locking any content integral to a class behind a "questline" that takes many hours to complete sounds to be like an utter mistake from a game design point of view because having less spells on a caster class will inherently mean you wont be competitively viable unless you do the questline. Especially considering quests in the game as they are at the current point in time are just mindless chores that take a few hours to complete, they lack any interesting mechanics or have any engaging content or lore behind them, they are just a time waste people are willing to go through in the name of unlocking crafts.
It was just an idea I had at the moment. I’m not married to any ideas whatsoever, it’s just fun to chat on the podcast and think up ideas in the moment.

The utter absurdity of hiring a 20 year old discord moderator to help and contribute with balance and then also hiring a professional marketing individual with years of experience only to not let him market the game in any meaningful way is insane. Also I wouldn't be this frustrated by such a revelation if the game wasn't at an all time low playercount. The game is draining players every single month (INCLUDING September which was the start of the last wipe). The game is dwindling back to the 3k in dungeon and there isn't a Steam launch that can save it this time. I pray something at Ironmace flips before it's too late.
Honeslty the 20 year old discord moderator had mostly W takes. - He thinks about the game more big picture, and understands the gameplay loop is toxic. All his suggestions were spot on IMO. You can be a discord moderator and still have great design sense.

Arena is a shitbucket lol. It feels horrible to play right now unless you're a wizard or a ranger. Or running some awesome high skill expressive demon's glee W key build. Longbow simulator, especially as a 2h fighter. Straight up unejoyable 9/10 matches unless you're queue'd up to specifically play Darkerstrike 2.0 lol. Odin on the class stacking checks out as well. Toxic comps drives away players, plain and simple agreed. Man I have no big expectations in the next wipe being anything better than this one outside the random dungeons. We have great maps, great bosses, some great classes already. Tighten up the game we have since it's already a dope ass game. Give the old classes some prio in making them better in relation to the most recent 3 added to the game. Obviously this isn't anything on these two boys since it all boils down to Sdf's decisions. But instead of fixing integral combat mechanics, blocking/dsync fix being fully shelved while they work on sorcerer and water map they said on the recent Q&A, we get more shit that's just thrown on top of the way the game already skews toward Darkerstrike 2.0 and has chased off so many of the long standing DaD players. Sorry to be a doomer, but it's gonna be hard to stop playing other games come wipe day with what we've heard so far about the wipe. I am just so very excited to use my longsword that has a solid 2m reach and an unreliable mechanic that carries the weapon against another new class that can nuke me from 5 times the distance I have access to with magic. Again, forcing me into more longbow simulator. Random dungeons ain't gonna change how I have to fight the people I come across when I finally find them. Tavern Table hopefully will have some rejuvenating info and vibes. I'll be listening while playing PoE2 with the boys who said they'll never be back on DaD since it's still the same ol playstyles that are unrewarding and unplayable into the strangling metas that have played the same since last November.
Playtest 1 player, haven't been on in a month. Took a 5 month break after multiclassing. I love this game, I held the line, but it's not fun to play at the moment.

I didn't touch arena untill they made market bought gear possible. It was so much fun testing builds as a cleric and trying comps with bis gear. I understand not every build is viable, though longsword fighter needs to adapt imo. You can bring a longsword with you and in case things are looking rough and you have to kill a cleric and barb, you whip out that longsword and get a reposte 2x headshot to turn the game around. Also, I have faith in the next patch. Random modules is what I really wanted. I want proper dungeon crawling. Sorcerer also sounds great

people who play melee classes complain that 85% of arena maps are horribly unbalanced towards ranged classes since youre stuck in a single module and cant play around doors against ranged comps, or retreat into a more melee favoring module people who play ranged love arena since youre locked into a module where you cant reset the fight and hold chokes
The continuous dungeon is so gonna bring a lot of issues. Any concern given is always given the same response that issues are expected and they will adjust in due time. I hope its not going to be a huge waste of time.
Ranged/infinite kite meta is objectively stupid. Sooo many players abuse the nuts out of casterlock/survival bow ranger/mosquito rogue. Some classes have NEAR ZERO counterplay against it. Or the tactics that exist are boring(bow spam). It isn't just a solo's issue and is abused very frequently in Duos. The top layer of ruins/ice caves are unplayable vs kiters. As much open ground as you want. Magic missles are not balanced. Why can wiz 100 to 0 you in melee in 1 second? Thats supposed to be his weakness? Arena has made this VERY apparent. If you have a shield its 50-50 lmao. Longsword still has 2% more hitslow than ARMING SWORD. Most fun weapon os F-tier.
FeSeb definitely thinks he’s the main character. Every time started to hear someone say something interesting he talks over them. Just to say something about how he’s on the dev team or how he works with sdf and that they’ll take a look at it or change it or whatever else. Yall lost the plot. Even most streamers and IM workers seem to have no idea how to make the game good. Nobody gives a sht about a map, socketing and different mobs that you buy off a UE5 assets store. Its the easiest W. Improve the combat system, add 20 spells, 20 perks and a subclassing system. The game is awful, even the ladders dont work. Ye goodbye imma play poe2, this is a lost cause.
Take notes from the cycle frontiers continuos servers. The one thing that cant happen is people requeueing the same dungeon after dying. All of the other problems were solved in the cycle.

They 2 shot you with a bow from a far and they 1 shot you with a bow from close using multi shot and if you get too close they use back step so no apparent weakness cant be killed for a far cant be killed from close range. And don't get me started about the Spear. Obvious overpowered class. Make 3 of them and its now way way obvious why is it overpowered.
They need to change the treasurer coin chest quest. If not legendary gems will be priced higher than they would naturally just based on their function as a socket upgrade. Either the quest needs to ask for a different type of legendary treasure, or it needs to change to something completely different. Right now finding a legendary gem means you essentially have 1/4 of a coin chest. And if a coin chest is worth 100k+ then a gem shouldnt sell for less than 25k regardless of how much players value them for their ability to change a stat roll on a legendary piece of gear. Sorry for laboring the point, but I think its really important they adress it before implementation or the system will be flawed on arrival. The way to balance buffball, is to make buffs overrite each other at least buffs from the same class. You can buff, but you need to prioritize. So cleric cant give you 5 wep dmg, protection and bless. He has to choose. Same with bard. He cant give you speed, armor and a bunch of attributes. He has to choose. I think continuos dungeons is a mistake. I would like them to merge hr and normals into one. Some mobs are too easy in normal and some are to strong in hr. Balance them out. Make more elites in crypts and more nightmares in hell. Squish the random enchantments to flatten the gear gap without breaking gear progression. Keep base attribute scalig as it is(+1 each rarity) Remove armor scaling( same armor value for every rartity). Alternatively the armor can scale from rarity to another, while the base attribute remains. Not have both scale. Remove uniqe rarity. Keep named items as uniqe, but make them legendary in terms of stats and number of enchantments. Only let the special effect remain. Move two of the inferno bosses into crypts so there are no random bosses. It really sucks to not know what boss you will encounter in hell. This would enhance the layer system too as that is a common complaint about layers. People dont like three layers since they have to spend alot of time to potentially get a boss they dont want. Remove all gear brackets except sub 25. There should be at least one bracket where you are safe from being ran over by bised out players. This is what guarantees that you can always come into the dungeon and fight on the same terms as everyone and skill being the only determining factor. Here you have a fair chance of acquiring gear so you can build up a kit. Instead of continous dungeon, have each layer reque with others entering the layer, to fill up each layer to its maximum number of players for that layer.( If more players que the generated map can be bigger, if less players que, the generated map can be smaller.) Make every single downstair and extract have an interaction requirment. No one should be able to just run around until they open and instantly get away. The way to make keys and gems naturally drop in price to their intrinsic value, is to increase means of storing gold the gold storages are worth so many times more than the gold they can contain, that they are not valued as coin storage as much as they are a currency in and of themselves. Make bags and chests more abundant and increase how much gold they can hold. If I could put 50k in a chest, and virtually every one had a chest, then we could trade emtpy containers for full containers to trade high value items. Bags could hold 10k or at least alot more than 1k.

How will questing be changed with random modules? The quest system is already really frustrating for a few quests. Making it even harder to find the items and mobs you need will be terrible. How will bossing be affected by open layer dungeons? This will allow the no lifers, juicers, and more experienced players to rush bosses immediately, hurting newer players or less experienced players trying to learn bosses. This will also mess with the quests for bossing which are already insanely annoying with the terrible random RNG for which boss you get and then you have to try and beat it.
Why are some ppl shitting on Feseb here? He has over 4k hours and is better than 99% of the playerbase. Of course you'd want someone like that as a community worker and someone that looks into the balance. People genuinely shitting on him have no clue what the boys said in these 2 hours.

Because he's young and talks a lot. I'm not one of them, though it would suit him well if he didn't talk over people as much and would be a lil more humble with his thoughts. Ironmace definitely needs people who actually play the game a lot and are involved in the community. Developing from their little office bubble is dangerous.
I think that there is some constructive criticism here for him to learn from. Like not cutting people off and letting people finish their thoughts before jumping in.

When was the last time Barb got buffed? They tried something during patch 69 but all of the changes reverted and they didn't stop there, they kept nerfing Barb and Barb is currently in its worst state for last 2 years but they buffed Fighter, Rapier, Bows, Spear, Daggers and Buckler

odin had me pumping my fist with the no class stacking stuff. "get over it" is my exact take as well. a lot of that is just people wanting to abuse what ever class is the most broken and having removed it incentivizes people to learn other classes. i enjoy teams the most and i think the only real times i feel like im dealing with an oppressive comp is when theres a cleric or a class stack. i loaded into my first game of arena ranking against a pre-assembled triple ranger team as a random fill duo and laughed at the idea of arena ever being considered a completive mode while that exists. i understand they cant do it rn, but im glad sdf mentioned it in the one peg vide.
putting so much work into new maps is such a bad decision in my opinion...especially when they dont even have core systems and gameplay loop down. I would have much rather just have crypts and goblin caves and the whole dev team working on classes/inventory rework/social hubs/etc...but those things are so far out because they have been working on the water map. In the OnePeg interview they were talking about how the inventory rework to have quivers needed Senior Programmers because it was such a tough job, but they were doing other things.
Ppl still complain about druid too. Arena is miserable for us atm. Druid is so hard to balance though. I feel much stronger in the actual dungeon because the arena maps alone are a big reason why druid isn't as competitive as other classes... and obviously the ranged meta is destroying melee classes outside of cleric buffballs. Big changes are needed
@Arena provides a ton of data that we can use to see the differences between each class in a team fight scenario and you want to just ignore all of that? That has to be the dumbest, most idiotic thing I’ve seen someone say about this game in a long time. Imagine having the results of thousands of fights between all the different classes and using none of the info to make the game better. What a stupid thing to say.
@@crashdrc I see and acknowledge your point friend, no need to sling insults, but the fact is this game was not originally designed with a team deathmatch 1x1 map area in mind. a large part of why arena fights favor some classes is because you can't really reset. Rogues, wizards, druids all benefit greatly from quick escape methods to reset/heal/gain space. this is not possible in an arena setting, and if you "buff" those classes to make them more competitive in arena it could have large consequences on the dungeon crawling part of the game (the whole point of the game?). I personally don't love the idea of using Arena data as the main point of reference for balancing. but hey, that's just like my opinion dude
For all the haters 1 hour 44.. "Rogue significantly underperforming"... I am tired to get 1-2 tapped by any class in the game i have told all my friends starting as new players to avoid playing rogue at all times couse they will suffer.. and all that did not listen to me deleted their rogue characters after a few days.. Please make something of this class or its a great suffering experience playing your favorite class. I am not Repoze type a GURU of the game and playing rogue is a miserable experience!
Do balance changes between seasons, building a kit for endwipe only to have the main weapon nerfed feels...rough. new weapons,skills,spells , a gathering hall to test builds, find people to play with, and setup 1v1s 2v2s 3v3s. ^_^ good podcast
Rip Darker dark, until skill trees, new perks, and guilds, with 10v10 guild arena, some other fun lobbies like that drum dodgeball for example back in the day, just some FUN stuff. Been on that WoW again, and now with PoE 2 coming, dark might have a tiny spark with sorc, but other classes need LOVE like rogue got with double hide, i want other classes that need that new spark for their classes to feel the same. but that new map and all the que's potentially, is scary, I miss the circle when it used to bring pvp fights.

The best part is almost right after FeSeb talks about how we need crypts back.... maaaan please for the love of god bring the old crypts layout back and just remove ruins. Im not like a huge ruins hater i think the map is fine. But doing 3 layers is insane and like FeSeb said. You just don't get those crypts fights like you used to, it really just is the most balanced map imo.

Bhopping needs changes obviously. There needs to be some limit like Tarkov at least has. It's unreal engine so you can't really remove it entirely. And the expressman can be repurposed as a paid extract that randomly appears somewhere in the dungeon. FeSeb ask sdf to bring back the circle swarm and random blue and red portals again like it used to be. With the fog of war and random dungeons this could work well in tandem. You could already avoid players very easily back then. And solos and duos need to go eventually, just saying. I mean sdf has mentioned it and it seems he wants to bring back everyone mixed together. It should go back to all party sizes randomly in the dungeon again. Also remove ruins or move it to another map next wipe, if random modules is only on crypts people are gonna want to go straight to crypts. Please for the love of god, remove the trade channel from the game. We just need the one market. The old trade channel is just RMT central and reinforces it by giving them a nice convienent place to trade. I understand that people like to barter with items, just add bartering to the market like Tarkov has. Ruins should be it's own big map. Single floor, with roaming boss and whatnot. Make a ruined castle just part of the map. Also bring back +all as a gem for the new socketing. But make it untradeable, so you can't buy it, you have to find it in the game.

they need to keep the mobs in Arena IMO. Its too boring and certain classes have way too much advantage if there are no mobs. On the topic of keys and gold storage, they should buff gold coin bags and spectral bags and even purses cause I really hate having like 1000 purses across all my characters until we get the bags released into crafting and even then they only hold 1k-2.5k and are worth like 10k - 30k mid wipe. its kinda ass. I like the idea of housing being a good gold sink but it needs to have some benefit to actually doing it. kinda like runescape houses. Yo f*ck the BR circle.
You do realise not all classes can find gear for their class the same, down to the point of being so annoying a lot of ppl would quit. So bad, especially how a lot of items are so rare to find or u have to spam a boss for days to get it. You would kill build diversity too.
@@DiverThomassIm one of the helpers and he is the guy we contact to if we wanna request changes or request new people become helpers as well. That goes for knights and mods as well. He does a lot with making sure the knights are in check but also its not his only responsibility now as he said in the pod so hes definitely cooled off on changing a system that already works pretty damn well. Mods moderate which is why you probably interact with them more. Thats about all there is to it. Quite a few active people who will be there to help you out if uve got any Qs about DaD.

Unless they wanna give fighter a third weapon slot so I can have an actual good melee with a bow/crossbow ( let’s be honest you need ranged) and a ls has a last ditch options to swing a fight which still seems dumb as hell to me tbh but maybe it would be fun in practice but idk I quit the game over a month ago and it looks like I will continue to not be in the game just boring gameplay and being forced to play range because if you don’t you basically can’t play the game I love the idea of the game played since the second playtest loved it before min maxing got out of hand idk if the game will ever find a decent state just seems like the decisions are being made by people who aren’t really playing the game or understand what the issues are
Remove true damage! It literally ruins half of the stats in the game... It makes other sources of damage and defenses literally irrelevant.

people who play melee classes complain that 85% of arena maps are horribly unbalanced towards ranged classes since youre stuck in a single module and cant play around doors against ranged comps, or retreat into a more melee favoring module
people who play ranged love arena since youre locked into a module where you cant reset the fight and hold chokes

The continuous dungeon is so gonna bring a lot of issues. Any concern given is always given the same response that issues are expected and they will adjust in due time. I hope its not going to be a huge waste of time.
Ranged/infinite kite meta is objectively stupid.
Sooo many players abuse the nuts out of casterlock/survival bow ranger/mosquito rogue.
Some classes have NEAR ZERO counterplay against it. Or the tactics that exist are boring(bow spam).

The top layer of ruins/ice caves are unplayable vs kiters. As much open ground as you want.
Magic missles are not balanced. Why can wiz 100 to 0 you in melee in 1 second? Thats supposed to be his weakness? Arena has made this VERY apparent. If you have a shield its 50-50 lmao.
Longsword still has 2% more hitslow than ARMING SWORD. Most fun weapon os F-tier.

They 2 shot you with a bow from a far and they 1 shot you with a bow from close using multi shot and if you get too close they use back step so no apparent weakness cant be killed for a far cant be killed from close range. And don't get me started about the Spear. Obvious overpowered class. Make 3 of them and its now way way obvious why is it overpowered.

They need to change the treasurer coin chest quest. If not legendary gems will be priced higher than they would naturally just based on their function as a socket upgrade. Either the quest needs to ask for a different type of legendary treasure, or it needs to change to something completely different. Right now finding a legendary gem means you essentially have 1/4 of a coin chest. And if a coin chest is worth 100k+ then a gem shouldnt sell for less than 25k regardless of how much players value them for their ability to change a stat roll on a legendary piece of gear. Sorry for laboring the point, but I think its really important they adress it before implementation or the system will be flawed on arrival.
The way to balance buffball, is to make buffs overrite each other at least buffs from the same class. You can buff, but you need to prioritize. So cleric cant give you 5 wep dmg, protection and bless. He has to choose. Same with bard. He cant give you speed, armor and a bunch of attributes. He has to choose.
I think continuos dungeons is a mistake. I would like them to merge hr and normals into one. Some mobs are too easy in normal and some are to strong in hr. Balance them out. Make more elites in crypts and more nightmares in hell.
Squish the random enchantments to flatten the gear gap without breaking gear progression. Keep base attribute scalig as it is(+1 each rarity) Remove armor scaling( same armor value for every rartity). Alternatively the armor can scale from rarity to another, while the base attribute remains. Not have both scale. Remove uniqe rarity. Keep named items as uniqe, but make them legendary in terms of stats and number of enchantments. Only let the special effect remain.
Move two of the inferno bosses into crypts so there are no random bosses. It really sucks to not know what boss you will encounter in hell. This would enhance the layer system too as that is a common complaint about layers. People dont like three layers since they have to spend alot of time to potentially get a boss they dont want.
Remove all gear brackets except sub 25. There should be at least one bracket where you are safe from being ran over by bised out players. This is what guarantees that you can always come into the dungeon and fight on the same terms as everyone and skill being the only determining factor. Here you have a fair chance of acquiring gear so you can build up a kit.
Instead of continous dungeon, have each layer reque with others entering the layer, to fill up each layer to its maximum number of players for that layer.( If more players que the generated map can be bigger, if less players que, the generated map can be smaller.)
Make every single downstair and extract have an interaction requirment. No one should be able to just run around until they open and instantly get away.
The way to make keys and gems naturally drop in price to their intrinsic value, is to increase means of storing gold the gold storages are worth so many times more than the gold they can contain, that they are not valued as coin storage as much as they are a currency in and of themselves. Make bags and chests more abundant and increase how much gold they can hold. If I could put 50k in a chest, and virtually every one had a chest, then we could trade emtpy containers for full containers to trade high value items. Bags could hold 10k or at least alot more than 1k.

How will questing be changed with random modules? The quest system is already really frustrating for a few quests. Making it even harder to find the items and mobs you need will be terrible.
How will bossing be affected by open layer dungeons? This will allow the no lifers, juicers, and more experienced players to rush bosses immediately, hurting newer players or less experienced players trying to learn bosses. This will also mess with the quests for bossing which are already insanely annoying with the terrible random RNG for which boss you get and then you have to try and beat it.

When was the last time Barb got buffed? They tried something during patch 69 but all of the changes reverted and they didn't stop there, they kept nerfing Barb and Barb is currently in its worst state for last 2 years but they buffed Fighter, Rapier, Bows, Spear, Daggers and Buckler

odin had me pumping my fist with the no class stacking stuff. "get over it" is my exact take as well. a lot of that is just people wanting to abuse what ever class is the most broken and having removed it incentivizes people to learn other classes. i enjoy teams the most and i think the only real times i feel like im dealing with an oppressive comp is when theres a cleric or a class stack. i loaded into my first game of arena ranking against a pre-assembled triple ranger team as a random fill duo and laughed at the idea of arena ever being considered a completive mode while that exists. i understand they cant do it rn, but im glad sdf mentioned it in the one peg vide.

putting so much work into new maps is such a bad decision in my opinion...especially when they dont even have core systems and gameplay loop down. I would have much rather just have crypts and goblin caves and the whole dev team working on classes/inventory rework/social hubs/etc...but those things are so far out because they have been working on the water map. In the OnePeg interview they were talking about how the inventory rework to have quivers needed Senior Programmers because it was such a tough job, but they were doing other things.

Ppl still complain about druid too. Arena is miserable for us atm. Druid is so hard to balance though. I feel much stronger in the actual dungeon because the arena maps alone are a big reason why druid isn't as competitive as other classes... and obviously the ranged meta is destroying melee classes outside of cleric buffballs. Big changes are needed

@Arena provides a ton of data that we can use to see the differences between each class in a team fight scenario and you want to just ignore all of that? That has to be the dumbest, most idiotic thing I’ve seen someone say about this game in a long time. Imagine having the results of thousands of fights between all the different classes and using none of the info to make the game better. What a stupid thing to say.
@@crashdrc I see and acknowledge your point friend, no need to sling insults, but the fact is this game was not originally designed with a team deathmatch 1x1 map area in mind. a large part of why arena fights favor some classes is because you can't really reset.
Rogues, wizards, druids all benefit greatly from quick escape methods to reset/heal/gain space. this is not possible in an arena setting, and if you "buff" those classes to make them more competitive in arena it could have large consequences on the dungeon crawling part of the game (the whole point of the game?).
I personally don't love the idea of using Arena data as the main point of reference for balancing. but hey, that's just like my opinion dude

I am tired to get 1-2 tapped by any class in the game i have told all my friends starting as new players to avoid playing rogue at all times couse they will suffer.. and all that did not listen to me deleted their rogue characters after a few days.. Please make something of this class or its a great suffering experience playing your favorite class. I am not Repoze type a GURU of the game and playing rogue is a miserable experience!

Rip Darker dark, until skill trees, new perks, and guilds, with 10v10 guild arena, some other fun lobbies like that drum dodgeball for example back in the day, just some FUN stuff. Been on that WoW again, and now with PoE 2 coming, dark might have a tiny spark with sorc, but other classes need LOVE like rogue got with double hide, i want other classes that need that new spark for their classes to feel the same. but that new map and all the que's potentially, is scary, I miss the circle when it used to bring pvp fights.

Bhopping needs changes obviously. There needs to be some limit like Tarkov at least has. It's unreal engine so you can't really remove it entirely. And the expressman can be repurposed as a paid extract that randomly appears somewhere in the dungeon.
FeSeb ask sdf to bring back the circle swarm and random blue and red portals again like it used to be. With the fog of war and random dungeons this could work well in tandem. You could already avoid players very easily back then. And solos and duos need to go eventually, just saying. I mean sdf has mentioned it and it seems he wants to bring back everyone mixed together. It should go back to all party sizes randomly in the dungeon again. Also remove ruins or move it to another map next wipe, if random modules is only on crypts people are gonna want to go straight to crypts.
Please for the love of god, remove the trade channel from the game. We just need the one market. The old trade channel is just RMT central and reinforces it by giving them a nice convienent place to trade. I understand that people like to barter with items, just add bartering to the market like Tarkov has.
Ruins should be it's own big map. Single floor, with roaming boss and whatnot. Make a ruined castle just part of the map.
Also bring back +all as a gem for the new socketing. But make it untradeable, so you can't buy it, you have to find it in the game.

they need to keep the mobs in Arena IMO. Its too boring and certain classes have way too much advantage if there are no mobs.
On the topic of keys and gold storage, they should buff gold coin bags and spectral bags and even purses cause I really hate having like 1000 purses across all my characters until we get the bags released into crafting and even then they only hold 1k-2.5k and are worth like 10k - 30k mid wipe. its kinda ass.
I like the idea of housing being a good gold sink but it needs to have some benefit to actually doing it. kinda like runescape houses.

@@DiverThomassIm one of the helpers and he is the guy we contact to if we wanna request changes or request new people become helpers as well. That goes for knights and mods as well.
He does a lot with making sure the knights are in check but also its not his only responsibility now as he said in the pod so hes definitely cooled off on changing a system that already works pretty damn well.
Mods moderate which is why you probably interact with them more.
