That Xenakis comp looks interesting Stephan. I did some research but could not lock it down. I looked under the Perspective Musicales but still no luck. Some of the singles were cool to check out. Either or. You always seem to find the most interesting and eclectic music around. Thanks for sharing them~ Rob/Boston
Beachnuts! It’s no “Ostrich” tho… 😂 Ahhhhh! Xenakis! That sleeve is absolutely the inspiration for the SYR series. I’m sure one of the covers is in French. The University of Illinois system had a lot of investment in early….”modern music” production? Basically that moment where guys in white lab coats (and Delia Derbyshire and Wendy Carlos, so it wasn’t a complete dude party,) were making “the future of music” with early modular synths. And so occasionally, somebody will bring in…say….a Harry Partch test pressing. 😳 It’s still on the wall, I think we have a grand on it, and it’s just waiting for the right collector to come in. Flipping it on eBay to some investment buyer just wouldn’t be respecting the art.
Some really interesting titles..can't say i've ever found left field or avant garde vinyl at charity shops here in the UK. I used to have Wunderbarr 7", Ed Tudor Pole is alegedly a descendant of English Tudor royalty.??. UK Records was Jonathan Kings' record label..he got jailed for kiddie fiddling. I agree, that Out of Sight comp cover is wonderful..typical of the time i guess but iconic. I don't have much modern classical, i find it difficult to get into, i have some Morricone orchestral soundtracks, but i think i'd struggle with what you showed. Nice finds Stephan.
Kubrick's use of electronic and classical music is great. Only saw the Shining about a year ago. Great ending (outside of the much parodied here's Johnny scene). If we don't try these things that turn up we never know much new rather than the usual stuff. I actually think I've become far more open minded than ever these days though £1 €1 prices are more favourable. Think xyz records did theme from X-Files in the 90s? Cheers Stephan.
I think you are right about that X-Files theme on ZYX. It's always cool to see those obscure italo disco tracks on that label. Kubrick is really good. The Shining one of my favorites. I remember playing that soundtrack in the dark. It scared the crap out of me.
My local Goodwill store has been getting in strange stuff like that (on CD & LP) along those same lines lately - nobody else is touching that relatively unknown odd stuff but I'm having fun buying and trying them! I'm always laughing at the resellers or "collectors" spending hours trying to figure out what they're looking at because they have no sku or thingy to scan on their stupid-phones! Know your craft, people and stop taking up space and time so others can look! Congrats on the way-cool finds! New sub - #999!
This is so true! I always gravitate towards the odd and strange. Anything that I never seen before and if it looks interessting, I will give it a shot. I am sometimes one of those guys who does check his phone, but more to see what music genre it is.

Xenakis is minimalistic avantgarde music. Really intrigueing. Glad I discovered his music, thanks to Sonic Youth using his artwork.
Some cool stuff there Stephan! Those groovy music comps look great! Thanks for sharing! 😎🎶🎸🎤 Ed.
I always try to pick up those comps. There's always something cool on them.
Great seeing Lou Reed get love
I was pretty surprised seeing one of his early tracks on that comp. Love his stuff!
THose Avant-Garde albums look awesome, that great cover, thanks for sharing
They are great, but not an easy listen.

So cool to find out about Xenakis, just because I recognize that cover. No surpise that Sonic Youth used it though.

I had found Pendrecki before (actually that some album), but I don't think I have found alot of avantgarde music on vinyl at the thrift before.
