When I was first introduced to this album as a kid, this was one of the "boring" songs (no disrespect to John Denver, but he wasn't exactly the draw of this album for my childhood self). As a new dad, now I can't listen to this song without tearing up.
Same here. I only really started appreciating this song when my son was a month away from being born. Now it's my absolute favorite Christmas song. I cry almost every time I listen to it.
Who could have wasted the energy and lied when they clicked thumbs down for this song... Favorite Christmas song ever, and yes, when I was growing up, we had this record...
This album is my families favourite, my three children have it on cd, our original LP got so scratched over the years...each year they cant wait to start playing it
John Denver died way to soon but this Christmas album always touches my heart ❤️ during the holiday season the muppets where apart of my life for 12 years as a child lots of laughs and John Denver’s albums and voice always put a smile to my face he’s so missed but his legacy continues to live on.
My heart simply grows whenever I hear John sing.....but when I am lucky enough to hear him singing one of my preciouse memories...I feel like I will see and hear him again, up in heaven!
@@fredfinks @Janell Irving When I was young my mom always played this around this time of year. The entire album is absolutely amazing but I love this song in particular. Definitely brings back amazing memories.
My sister and I had the tape of this as kids and we loved it. This track was my favorite. It's been forever since I heard this lovely tune, takes me back to beautiful memories. Thanks for posting this :o)
A wonderful song, Mr. Denver apparently got the inspiration for this song from a phone call with Frank Sinatra. Mr. Sinatra told Denver about his new baby granddaughter and in how it brought new joy to his life, so he asked to write a Christmas song for him and her. Here is what came about, with Mr. Sinatra rewriting the name of Denver’s son Zachary to his granddaughter Angela.
Sang this to our Miss Karen her first Christmas. My favorite Christmas song, she is 34 now we change the word to Merry Christmas little Karen Ann Merry Christmas everyone!!
My children are Zachary and Hannah Kate (Total coincidence)! The Muppet album with "Merry Christmas Little Zachary" came out at the time of our Zachary's first Christmas.
Glad I stumbled back into these. I get chills at the start of every song, being thrown back to riding in the the car to Christmas Eve at Grandma's listening to this album on tape, with my sisters on either side trying to sing along. Thanks for getting this up here.
I love this song so much! 😭it’s such a beautiful and meaning song :) i love that I was born on this wonderful holiday:) the joyous holiday that can bring families even closer. this reminds my mother of me and honestly if you can feel the season like anyone else, you may end up like me and be crying 😭😭😭😍

I just came up on a Near Mint copy of this LP, poster and all. Love it.
John Denver was one of the greatest singer/songwriters the world ever knew. We lost him too soon
Truly under-rated songsmith. Wasn't radical enough for pop culture to truly appreciate I think, compared to his contemporaries.

Thumbs up if your name is Zach and felt special when hearing this as a kid! I know I did!
I named my son Zachary after hearing this song.💚
Thank you! Need to hear this classic.
Every year when I put up the tree I listen to this album. It epitimizes Christmas for me.

I had the record when I was a kid...back in the 80s!
luminousclock So did my cousin, but I was the one who constantly played the album.

John is such a special influence to me! R.I.P John!
I have loved this song ever since I was a little kid, and now that I have a baby boy of my own it just makes me cry. (In a good way.)
Sang this to our Miss Karen her first Christmas. My favorite Christmas song, she is 34 now we change the word to Merry Christmas little Karen Ann Merry Christmas everyone!!
We sang this a couple of times in our church Christmas concert: I changed it to Merry Christmas little children etc.
One of my favorite songs of all time.
Zachary was John's first adopted child. He & Annie adopted a girl later...Anna Kate
My children are Zachary and Hannah Kate (Total coincidence)! The Muppet album with "Merry Christmas Little Zachary" came out at the time of our Zachary's first Christmas.
@@USAGEASTERMPLS my brother Zachary was born around that time too and me and my big sister just adored him and this song.
@@USAGEASTERMPLS my daughter is Bethany. I used to sing this to her when she was a baby and changed Zachary to Bethany.
Ah, that makes sense! When I listened to this album as a kid I had no idea who Zachary was or why he was singing to him.

I Miss christmas already!
Beautiful song written by Joe Henry for John Denver...
Orginally sung by Frank Sinatra. Possibly this arrangement was by Joe Henry.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM. I was having a rough day today and it's not even winter, but I had to listen to this to calm me down. Do we know who Zachary is?

Es de verdad tan preciosa como triste, porque las guerras existen, y tantos inocentes mueren sin culpa.
