Hi bro. Thanks for sharing your experience. I was in a hostel from I was 5 years old till 15. For those 10 years, I had 4 friends that were always since day 1(as there were only 5 students in kg class) I learned a lot of things especially friendship and living by yourself. All my friends were from different states. Now I am in the United States pursuing a major in Criminal Justice to become an FBI agent. being in a hostel has made who I am today. You learn how to live by yourself, create unbreakable friendships, and form your own opinions, and have an open-minded personality.
You're so right, I spend just 2 year's of my life in a boarding school, those were the best days of my life, been 28 years and not a day passes by without reminiscing those days, it was heaven on earth.
Loved this video of yours...this rings true to my heart as I had one year of boarding school 1986 -1987 in my late mom's gurus school in a village of Humnabad in Karnataka... initially it took a lot of time adjusting...I was 15-16 years old then. Due to certain personal circumstances of my mother she wanted me to go to a day school in Wellington ( Nilgiris...not new zealand)...I was ready to go back but my mom wasnt. My brother and Sister went to Whellam and Doon in the mid 60s to 70s...I now realise even more the type of strong bonds you make amongst your peers and few of your seniors and as you rightly said gives you independence of kind like no other...(there are always exceptions in every case)...I don't know why...I miss the positive aspects of boarding school...(I come from an army background...at that time I loved travelling with my parents...yet I was alone...I spent most of the time with the helpers who were there taking care of me...having food in langars with the jawans...bonding with them and sometimes their families where we were stationed coz my parents were out at various army/unit functions and I loved going to what one called barakhannas...nicely dressed in shirt tie n coat and black shoes...meeting people...dad and his team of officers hanging out and drinking and snacking with men...in a tented courtyard...at one end there would be some entertainment programme going on...a fire lit in the middle and a separate are enclosures ladies sahibaans and the officers
And also to some fancy dress parties where I was dressed as a pirate 😊😊 ahhhr acting a small skit...on stage or going out for some unit picnic. Later I too became vlogger of sorts started out taking photos going to regimental functions..with film roll cameras to vlogging of sorts with a LCD digital cameras and trying to make sure I could make them short so that I could upload onto Facebook or register with a website that accepted large videos n shared a link via email...when whatsapp was not there or in its early stages
Your videos are so amazing & your storytelling skills are best. I was also living in hostel (before corona started) , I can relate so well to this .Love from Punjab Sir ❤

I’m currently in the process of applying to Woodstock, randomly stumbled across this video and it’s actually the same story 😅, I’m about to start high school and applying to be a boarder there
You are very good story teller i just can't stop hearing you.i would like to know about your friends and what is your equation now is it same that used to be in your school days or with the changinging time your equation with your friends also changed
I have sent my only son and daughter to A boarding school in Nilgiris. Many people have commented that this act makes me not well connected ( emotionally and physically) with my children. Also that I am spending so much money for their schooling in a boarding school while i should save money and spend on their higher education or in business. 😮My children seem not to be serious about competition in colleges. Will they be able to make a mark in their life. Your comments please
We came to Mussoorie in July 2019 as my husband and I are working as Administrative Staffs at Woodstock School. I have heard quite a lot about your family from our colleagues and we enjoy your videos a lot.
I am Also from Boarding School... The very famous JNVs, Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalayas... It is not big as Woodstock but my experience was nice.... Taking independent decisions and becoming intellectually independent was something that i learned there...
"Bathroom occupied then mess occupied". Well I faced the same issue in Hostel. Our first class was at 9 AM and like all my fellow students I woke up at 8 AM. However, I headed for mess first and I can peacefully have a breakfast without fighting for food. By 8:35 AM, when I returned people were done with bathroom and heading for mess. I would use bathroom peacefully, without anyone banging on door. At the end, I would be first one to reach class at 9 AM, well fed and full satisfaction with shower. My friends would come at 9:10 AM, with half-stomach :)
Sirji, you are seemingly to be a good chap only. Your good Mom, Sirji, flunked me in 7th Grade English!🤓आपको, आपकी मम्मी और मेरे खूबसूरत लण्डौर को मेरी शुभकामनाएँ। नमस्कार। 🙏🏿. Pleejh to I am thanking your good selp phor this wideo. जय हिन्द.🇮🇳✊🏿
I am watching this video because I have to go somewhere else to search a job and don't want to leave my parents. I had spent time in hostel during university years. But feeling really bad right now. I just don't want to go :(
I think once in a while as a Student we should go to the hostel because it totally change you as a different person & prepare you to face the challenges in the outside world.
