My well educated, adult friend was saying how much she liked The Lion, The Witch... and I agreed it was quite good, and that I had loved the books, as a kid, but now as an adult I found the religious stuff a bit too much. She looked puzzled. And I said "You do realise that Aslan was Jesus, right?" "What!?" It blew her mind. It had never crossed her mind.
Yet he admits there's been good use of each in films. Across the Spider-Verse was even one of his favorite movies of 2023. I wonder why he hates them so vehemently lol
The credit idea is completely flawed. The services that run via credits are ones that provide a product that the customers then get to keep. Should a video service lean into such a premise just to watch, all they will do is push customers to buy movies and TV for themselves or straight up just pirate streams/downloads.
Shang Chi 2 could be the Mortal Kombat of the MCU. The Ten Rings are essentially sending out a signal through space & time for a heavenly Martial Arts tournament where Shang Chi faces several foes (including a version of Iron Fist) before finally facing off against the "Moving Shadow" who in comics is Shang Chi's half-brother but in the MCU should just be another variant of Shang Chi himself (like DS2) from another multi-verse and Shang Chi literally has to fight himself.
He wrote it, directed it, and influenced the development for the technology used for filming movies. He also saved Hollywood from a total flop year (except Barbie I guess).
Kris, did you see Doctor Who himself, Ncuti Gatwa nailing the choreography as one of the dancers in the 'I'm Just Ken' performance? Amazing... alongside Kingsley Ben-Adir.❤ P.S. Well done Chris Nolan!😊
I'm in the middle of a Marvel Netflix re-watch, and finding Iron Fist be quite a bit better than I remembered. Not great, but nowhere as bad as I remember. I quite enjoyed the first series. I haven't got round to the second series, yet so I might change my mind when I see it.
Jonathan Glazer also denounced the 7th October Hamas attack on southern Israel. He mentioned those victims as well. That's important to include if you're quoting a political speech people are quick to jump on.
With regards to star wars sequel trilogy games, the thing is games used to take about the same amount of time to make as a movie, but these days a game takes like 4-6 years to make, too long to make and tie into a movie that takes about 2 years to make.
Sad to hear the netflix iron fist wont be back. I did not mind him as iron fist, it was just written very poorly imo. Hopefully he gets a cameo in future sometime.
John can't accept that Spiderverse 2 was not the best of the year. He's allowed his opinion, but I'm sure he'd even he'd agree that it was only half a film, and that's being generous - it's more like a very bloated first act of a film. I enjoy many two-parters, but SV wasn't nearly as good as SW:tESB or POTC:DMC, which were both complete films on their own. Boy and the Heron wasn't perfect but it was complete and extremely imaginative.
About Greta Gerwig..if it't her long desired passionate project, than maybe it would be great even if it's for streaming.I have to say, that one was the only one of original movies I liked.
John the Greta Gerwig Netflix deal was probably made BEFORE her Barbie success.. she had no way of knowing before signing the contract. On top of that Netflix is one of the biggest distribtors in the game, if she wants to do future business with them she does 1 for them and then 1 for her. Plus.. it's a great IP, it's not like it's not a well known thing. It's great resume filler especially if it's a hit.
Could they do a stunt category if it was just centered on one stunt from the film that is certified by stunt coordinators to be completely cgi free? Guess it would make it a complicated category.
So, I think there is a break in the whole streaming services not releasing movies in theaters. Shudder has a movie coming out staring Nic Cage and it's going to be in theaters. I think they were able to do this because they have 2 other production companies working with them. I think that's a great way to watch overhead and keep prices down. They aren't shelling out all the money for the movie. Road House 60 mill in theaters, 80 mill has to go to streaming, but if Amazon put in the 60 & let's say Universal put in the 20, they could have still dropped it in theaters and each production company would make their money back they invested. Say the film makes 140, Amazon gets their 60 Universal gets their 20 and the rest they split. I think this may be the way to keep production cost down by teaming up with someone else to drop them in theaters. What does everyone think about this? If Shudder could keep putting horror movies in theaters with the help of other production companies and they split the extra is this how to get movies like Extraction in theaters and make your money back.
What do y’all think about AMC buying it for more then the tax write off but less then production cost and have some type of deal for it to eventually stream on HBO?
I'm all for another Chronicles of Narnia, but not the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Hasn't been that long since Disney took a turn at the series. Let's start with the Magician's Nephew, which chronologically, is the first in the series.
my favourite Oscar speech by far was Cord Jefferson. Glazer was well-meaning but ill-concieved and I personally side with his critics over his supporters.
As a Spanish speaker I don't think having a translated show would be offensive. There are a lot of shows, movies, and other content still being dubbed in Spanish.
Shang Chi 2 for me would be best done as just a kung fu movie with some mystical elements sprinkled in. I agree with your comments on time travel cliches
@@Silentwraith365 that sounds very possible🤞I hope he stays for a while longer. No matter what, I respect his decision. Just trying to mentally prepare myself lol
I don't know why that prejudiced, offensive term is used every chance you get, but nothing about Clone Force 99 is "defective." They're not defects. There are only certain people who use that term on the show, and they have a prejudice against Clone Force 99. Clones having a prejudice against clones, but they're all clones together. People always look for a way to make another group of people less than what they are. Each mem of Clone Force 99 was deliberately made the way he is, not the result of, as the Clones say it, "a bad batch." It was a clone who reminded them that they were deliberately made and there was a specific reason. "Defect" is not a cool word to keep using since nothing about the word has any truth, or jest, to it regarding Clone Force 99.
@@spicymemes7458I've always been for a continuity that set the Defenders on a separate but similar Earth than the 616 MCU, but all are touched by the same K’un-Lun. Thereby, Jessica Henwick's Colleen could come over by accident when visiting K’un-Lun and exiting the wrong time. It's even easier to do with them making Daredevil's events canonical to the MCU (in more than lip service) but that doesn't mean they'll pick back up on any non-DD characters. There have been Iron Fists since the time of early humans though, so I suspect they're referring to a predecessor Fist like Fan Fei of 1M BC (she was a native of K'un-Lun who fought alongside Odin and Agomotto during caveman times).
Time travel and multiverse are merely components, people can just execute both poorly and in ways that remove stakes, but others can use these effectively and make it awesome. It's often easier to confuse people or convolute things with them though, especially when people will always wonder why one isn't consistent with how it was portrayed in some previous in-universe usage or it. I personally see the value in exploring what is different about a character pulled from a different time (e.g., Star-Lord getting back Gamora only to still not get back his relationship), but I think it's fuller stakes if multiverse literally showed a complete different population (e.g., a group of Avengers exists here and a group of Mutants exist in a world that never birthed a Steve, Tony, etc. or even Namor and Kamala). It all comes down to writing.
The difference between an actor and a plumber: a plumber is often self-employed and if their political speech affects their business, generally they will be the only one to 'suffer' financially etc.....if an actor/director, etc does, they not only have a much larger 'audience' to influence one way or another, but what they do can often affect countless other people (inc actors not being paid well, crew members, etc.)
About the translations - nobody should get offended if the show is being translated. But my opinion is we don't need a translated version. It's just that everybody should stop being lazy and learn English so finally the whole world will speak the same language. English first, and second will be the language where the person was born so he/she can show their his/her origin.

I will go back to dvds. If streamers and especially Prime does this shit..

Kimmel was fine. But I hope we get John Mullaney. He would be spectacular. Same with Daniel Sloss. Or Anthony Jeselnik.
