    In my beach fishing experiences,there's usually two or three successive troughs.Each one is wider and deeper than the previous.I usually wade thru the first one to the next shallow sandbar and fish he second,deeper trough.The bigger fish tend to be more numerous and less wary there.Sometimes you have to wade chest deep water to stand below waist deep on the next bar.It is great fun to catch those many smaller ones tho.I've fished a few Florida beaches this way when I lived there.De Soto,Clearwater,Pensicola,and Mayport.

    The gold and orange with spots mirror lure is a good one. And clark spoon mackeral rigs. Also try stuff with chart over purple. And anything that resembles a glass minnow up to 9"s.

    That spoon (Johnson Minnow) is notorious for coming with a dull hook. You might try sharpening it before the initial use, to increase your hook-up ratio.
    Also, snip off the weed-guard unless it is absolutely necessary.

    I live in nearby Bradenton and fish Anna Maria a lot. There are monster fish around there, you just gotta know where they are. For example, at the Anna Maria City Pier, I see the tourists casting out as far as they can when the giants are right under their feet! Below that pier are some of the biggest snook I've ever seen. You need some really heavy-duty tackle to get those big girls out of the pilings. 👍

      It’s important not to know where I am, but the fact that these fish can be caught anywhere on the surf depending on water temp and weather. People get too caught up trying to fish the exact spots, when In Reality I’m just walking the beach... I’m not fishing any specific location, it’s always different where you may catch them. Patience is key. Hope that helps! 🐟 good luck.

    About 15 years ago a no name storm came though here and tore up alot is stuff we couldn't get to our job site because it was flooded so we went fishing instead the water was hight of course and it was ripping I threw a cast net to get some bait right off a wall under a bridge and the net had 3 snook keepers and a shitload of bait the only time we used the net we didn't have to after that we threw the snook back and got our limit with a limit of red fish as well 3 per person fishing got board so we stayed casting out over the sand bars and started to catch tarpon one very large one came up to the wall Al acting like it was waving at me with it's find and bam it took off that was the best day of fishing in my life that spot always gives me fish when no one else there can catch them I can not always but enough to say I almost always catch fish there but nothing will ever compare to that day I have been chasing that day every sense I know where the fish are around here and I am trying to find new spots but as fast sercit spots everyone goes fishing there but for some reason not everyone catch's there and I don't know why I guess I just been there long enough to know were they feed at along the sand bars hope you catch some good ones let me know if you wish to fish in palmetto or Terra ceia or even Tampa Bay there are alot of good spots I can't been to yet that in trying for

    Reccomend you lose the cheapo brass snap swivels. A good snook will wreck those things. Spend the extra money and get good ball bearing swivels, with more positive lock up on the snap.

    • @sundazedkp
      @sundazedkp  5 років тому

      Wherever it drops down, that’s the trough. Just start walking out and when it steps down you are in the trough. Waves move, so not sure how to answer that

    • @patrickmcmullen1190
      @patrickmcmullen1190 5 років тому

      The waves that crash further out indicate a sandbar. Between the breakers on the beach and the sandbar, is the trough.

    how would you rig up a rod that is 10'-12'? for a long distance cast would it be OK to use a weight to get it out there? Carolina rig style? or would that make the lure sink? I would appreciate any help, thanks!

    • @sundazedkp
      @sundazedkp  5 років тому +2

      Kevin Palencia .tenacore you don’t need a long cast. The fish are in the trough 5 feet in front of you. That rod is way too big. You just need a 7-8 ft medium light rod.

    If you don't mind me asking, is there any specific leader you recommend for the Johnson Gold Spoon and Swivel? Did you throw any kind of weight? Also, could you do the same setup with mono-filament instead of braid? I'm coming to AMI in August and have never done any surf fishing, but I really like what you set up. I've never used braided line before either, and everything I've read says it take some getting used to v. mono-filament. Is it that much of a difference? Just trying to figure out the best set up to catch fish with my son while we are there. Is there a set up you recommend for pier fishing with the same line? Any live bait advice? Thanks in advance!

    • @sundazedkp
      @sundazedkp  5 років тому +2

      Just get a 4-5000 size reel and put it on a 8ft med heavy rod. 30lb Braid 30lb leader will be a great all around set up for pier and beach fishing. Don’t think too much into it, this set up will be great. People get very picky with leaders and such for certain fish, this is fine. I recommend the boca 50 on an 8’ star rod. I like power pro braid. Stay away from the cheap amazon stuff unless you find a test video of line strength on UA-cam. Enjoy!

      It's personal preference for fishing the tough they actually make a rod and reel set up called a side caster which is what everyone used in the 70s then modern invention came out with bait casters to model them. While some people didn't like them and preferred to use spinning tackel which was more forgiving.

    This is glorious, I been tryin to find out about "delaware surf fishing report" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Wenayden Xenaylee Blaster - (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my co-worker got amazing results with it.

      The Ocean Dude - don’t bother. It’s a website for a surf-fishing on-line school. The above response is from a paid “bot” - not an actual person.

      The Ocean Dude that’s why you kept losing all those bites. If you used a smaller hook you would have caught all those little guys.
