People can say what they want about Angelina's personal life but you can't deny the acting ability. Girl Interrupted, Changeling, A Mighty Heart, are master class acting. "GIA" was outstanding.
I'm more surprised and shocked that Kim Kardashian was in the interview. As an established actor I would have felt slighted that I didn't get interviewed by a fellow actor
I think their pairing for this has more to do with them both being in Ryan Murphy productions as well as both of them working in the style and fashion industry.
If you do some research you will find so many interviews by Chloe were she constantly slams other actors and comes off really jealous and bitter. Calling Jennifer Lawrence crass, stating that she didn't get roles that she deserved, rolling her eyes when someone was speaking about Reese Witherspoon, bashing actors like Amy Adams doing HBO shows such as Sharp Objects, and just on and on! She is pretty much a narcist, and really isn't that good of an actress.
Chloe has already complained about Jennifer Lawrence, calling her irritating and too rude. I'm almost Chloe's age and I can't understand why she thinks she has the right to be so inelegant. I can only remember the explicit sex scene she did.
I remember watching both films and while I remember Hilary Swank in BDC, I really don't remember a lot about Chloe's character. I do remember Angelina's character in Girl, Interrupted. She should have been nominated as Lead Actress but technically it was Winona's movie. I love Winona but it wasn't her best performance. Whoopie was outstanding as one of the supporting roles, the late Brittany Murphy was another strong and memorable supporting role in Girl, Interrupted. Chloe was not robbed. Toni Collette was robbed. Her performance in The Sixth Sense was stellar.
We already know those awards are manipulated for many reasons. I mean, there's a lot of great actors that get snubbed mostly, people were don't even get to know, butt when the system wants to make someone happen.....they will make them happen. I agree that Cameron Diaz should have been nominated for that role.
Angelina was great, but I would have given that award to Toni Collette. Her performance in The Sixth Sense was a true supporting role and she somehow managed to stand out and garner such sympathy for her character despite having only a few key scenes. I also agree Julianne Moore should have been nominated that year, though I think she pretty much earns consideration in nearly everything she does. Boys Don't Cry was Hillary Swank's movie. That's the performance I remember when I think of that film... not Chloe Sevigny.
Noop! Angelina's performance is more compelling because she made the viewers love the antagonist more than the protagonist! That rarely happens in movies!
If anyone deserved an award for Girl Interrupted, it was Brittany Murphy. She was just as magnetic and raw as Angelina. Also, I do think Chloe did a much better job.
Angelina should be playing more roles like that. She did Gia, this, and other films where she won 3 Golden Globes in a row. I hypothesize that Angelina had something occur w/ Harvey Weinstein as her career stopped after this. Regarding Chloe, her performance in BDC is phenomenal. I feel her acting in the karaoke scene is really incredible. She plays Lana as someone who would be too shy to sing in front of others. Other actors would try to play her like a Broadway singer. Chloe was also really great in "Big Love."
I do believe that Angelina deserved that win. She did a remarkable job on that movie, maybe because it was perfectly related to her, with her own disorderly behavior.
I wouldn't say she's bitter but she was wrong stating that Angelina was not a supporting role when in fact she was. Chloe was more in Boys Don't Cry than Angelina was in Girl Interrupted. I do think though Chloe and Toni Collette gave far superior performances in their movies.
Nah, she's not bitter, just petty and completely ignorant to the meaning of the term "SUPPORTING role"... all born out of pettiness over not winning an award. And sorry (not sorry), while I concede that Toni could definitely be a toss-up w/ Angelina for the best supporting work of that year, Chloe's performance (while emotive AND effective), is simply NOT in their league.
Angelina deserved that win EASILY! Chloe needs to stop being bitter cause she lost to a PRETTIER AND MORE SUCCESSFUL AND BETTER actress. Get over it sis. Cause this is not the take you think it is.
wow ... a lot of critics - and i'm remembering Siskel and Ebert thought Chloe gave the best performance that year. i remember their Siskel and Ebert show about the Oscars that year. I will look it up. i'm surprised you dislike her so much.
Angelina Jolie was never going to lose with the role she played! It was the showy role with all the makings of an Oscar nominated role! Chloe was playing the more human role. Someone that isnt showy, but more calm and not as emotional. No way was Jolie going to lose.
Angelina did a great job but honestly, if Chloe has won id think her win was well deserved also. If I had to pick, I wouldve given the oscar to Chloe as I prefer her as an actress.
Chloe Sevigny is a wonderfully talented actress. She’s entitled to feel how she feels. Her saying “I’m not bitter” was her acknowledgement of her bitterness and making light of it with the inflection in her voice. She wasn’t being literal and saying she wasn’t bitter. Your screen time break down is hilarious though. Maybe she was arguing the opposite Graeme. Maybe she was saying that Angelina didn’t have enough screen time, in her opinion, to be considered a supporting character. Idk, but both women are talented, beautiful, and deserving of all their success. ❤️
Chloe is not saying that Angelina wasn't great (I mean. Angelina tore that sh*t up); she thinks that Angelina should have been nominated for Best Actress, not Best Supporting Actress. It happens. Producers don't want two of their actors competing for Best Actor(tress), so they campaign for one of them to be Best Supporting Actor(tress). The irony is, Boys Don't Cry producers probably did the same thing for Chloe, so she wouldn't be in competition with Hilary. Both hers and Angelina's character were main characters - not the lead, perhaps, but big, important roles. Miriam Margolyes felt the same way about Age of Innocence. She was bumped for Winona Rider. Perhaps there should be another category for smaller roles where character actors shine. And I wouldn't say Chloe is bitter; that's too big a word. Every actor feels slighted at some point; I find it refreshing that Chloe put it right out there.
Sadly for her, Angelina blew the competition out of the water that year. That Oscar was hers to take. It's actually unfortunate that she only ever again got one other nomination and it was for The Changeling in 2009.
Chloe gave such a beautiful understated performance in BDC, I agree that Angelina deserved to win, but Chloe 100 % deserved to be in that catagory. I personally think that Ange, Chloe and Julianne gave the best supporting performances that year.
This looks bad on Sevigny. I mean to turn on the Academy for an overlooked nomination is fairly common, but to be recognized with a nomination and go on the attack 20 plus years later is an insult to the voting Academy and the winner.
I think that Chloe Sevigny's willingness to sit across a Kardashian and pretend to have an interesting conversation says a lot about her misperceived reality.
Chloe was the definition of a drag on nomination. No one thought she was the best supporting actress of the year. I agree with you everyone in the category being stronger than her and Moore and Diaz but I also would've put in either Birch or Suvari from American Beauty like BAFTA did.
Screentime doesn't determine impact. I think it's because Boys Don't Cry was Chloe's breakout role and Hillary Swank was collecting the hardware, she thought she had a chance. Is it bitter? I don't know.
Bitterness happens when you lose hope your dreams can come true and when you start going back to the moments you were the closest to them, looking for someone to blame. That's a bad path. Chloe was doing fine, but she shouldnt have done the blow job scene in Brown Bunny, that affected her career unfortunately. But that's not Angelina's fault. There have been times when a performance that objectively should have been supporting or leading won in the opposite category, it's not a crime.
Why is she exposing all her feelings on this loss to this woman. Angelina is ok certainly not a master class in acting but does what she needed to do which to give a jolt of life to a dull film with a surprisingly dull lead. Diaz should have won.
I agree, Cameron for Being John Malkovich should have gotten in and especially Julianne for Magnolia! I don't think either Angelina was the lead of that movie but I would have been more than ok if Chole would have won that year. Her role is boys don't cry is almost as good as Hilary's Brandon!
The academy winners are decided by members ( that's thousands of votes ) so Angelina won the majority of votes fair and square Most members felt she should win and she did So Angelina won because she should have
It's funny to me how you are even MORE bitter than any of them, lol. You took Chloe's bitterness and adopted it as your own towards her. I'm just teasing, but you do report these things like they are serious 😂
And 24 years later and you're bitching about what she thinks? Who's more bitter? Her or you for her feelings about losing? Trying to start cat fights is not cool, dude. Move on before criticizing Chloe about your perception of her not moving on. Get a life!
People can say what they want about Angelina's personal life but you can't deny the acting ability. Girl Interrupted, Changeling, A Mighty Heart, are master class acting. "GIA" was outstanding.
AND the iconic raider Lara Croft. The baddest b in the tomb.
Sorry Chloë, but you could never

I love Chloe but Angelina deserved that win.
Angelina stole the show!
Nah, Toni Collette deserved.
Girl Interrupted was awesome and Angelina did great, IMO
Baby Angelina BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN. In “Girl, Interrupted” that’s one of my favorite performances ever put to film.
Same!
All the other nominees were great, but Angelina Jolie was a tour de force in Girl Interrupted.
Kim Kardashian is just sitting in that interview like…
I don’t know who you are or what you’re talking about👁️🫦👁️
She is the epitome of "doesn't belong there" Dakota Fanning from Netflix's Ripley should've replaced her.
I will ever understand this match up.
I was like - is that really her with CHLOË??? 😅😅😅
I'm more surprised and shocked that Kim Kardashian was in the interview. As an established actor I would have felt slighted that I didn't get interviewed by a fellow actor
Exactly. She’s not getting nominated for playing herself.
I think their pairing for this has more to do with them both being in Ryan Murphy productions as well as both of them working in the style and fashion industry.
If I were Chloe, I would have been embarassed to be paired with Kim.
Angelina was unparalleled! One of history's best performances! Well deserved!
I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU AND ANGELINA DESERVED THAT OSCAR!!
Angelina Girl Interrupted performance is ICONIC!
Angelina deserved that Oscar she’s a amazing actress and performance in all her movies are always so good
Angelina deserved to win, her performance was much better
Chloe I adore you but Jolie was clearly Supporting in Girl, Interrupted. Ryder is the sole lead of the film.
Angie won that oscar fair and square
Im not a big Angelina fan, but no one else was winning that year for Supporting Actress but her, she won most of the precursor awards I believe
Chloe is the It Girl to end all It Girls.
Kim is like ...."ummm wait whaaaat? when do i plug skims?"

Chloe was excellent in "Boys Don't Cry", but Toni Collette was the mvp of that category in 1999.
Angelina deserved that win EASILY! Chloe needs to stop being bitter cause she lost to a PRETTIER AND MORE SUCCESSFUL AND BETTER actress. Get over it sis. Cause this is not the take you think it is.

Jolie was the best supporting performer that year, better than Julianne Moore in Magnolia as well, her win is iconic. Period.
Chloe…humble yourself….you’re not on AJ’s level.
Julianne deserved the oscar that year-period.
Angelina did a great job but honestly, if Chloe has won id think her win was well deserved also.

Chloe is always great...but that Angelina performance was amazing. And iconic. She deserved that win more than almost any other win I've seen.
Samantha Morton's performance was so beautiful. A throwback to the silent era. Not easy to pull off.
Sadly for her, Angelina blew the competition out of the water that year. That Oscar was hers to take. It's actually unfortunate that she only ever again got one other nomination and it was for The Changeling in 2009.

It was very supporting and she was AMAZING. Winona was the main character 😂😂
Chloe gave such a beautiful understated performance in BDC, I agree that Angelina deserved to win, but Chloe 100 % deserved to be in that catagory. I personally think that Ange, Chloe and Julianne gave the best supporting performances that year.
