A central line in the lyrics of this song is "Zeit, bitte bleib steh'n, bleib steh'n" (time, please stop, stand still). Of course that is not possible. It's about the unstoppability of time.
Time knows no mercy, the giant sand clock is always running. There's no rewind button, the fishermen will drown, the soldiers will die, and the peasant's daughter will die well before her time. The three cloaked figures looking like the Grim Reaper are the norse Norns: Past, Present and Future. They constantly weave the fabric of Time, sometimes they cut a thread and someone dies, and someone else is automatically born. anew. I lost several loved ones to COVID at the time this video came out, and it hit me like a wrecking ball.
