I am a little astonished Nigel. Decals will wrinkle up when applying the set/sol. Leave them and they will settle down with a very tight fit to the model. I do enjoy your thoroughness. All the best. 😀
Love wnw Wednesday ! Awesome Nigel 👍🏻🍻
Great pointers again thanks Nigel. Your comments regarding the XF paint are spot on. I painted the F2B fuselage with XF without priming, and it has to be treated with care. However I primed the wings, and used XF paint for the brown/green, and it is fine, and Mr Colour sail colour for the clear doped linen, and it worked well as well. With the decals, before reading that setting agents should not be used, I used Microset and Microsol. A bit of a mixed bag - some roundels are very nice, however a few have a bit of a rough surface in places. They are not destroyed though.
Nice looking job Nigel. Thanks for the brass rolling. If your sanding stick is falling apart, glue it to a coffee stirrer. May last a little longer.
This great, I’m indeed also building the Max Immelmann version of this kit as a kind of intro to WnW kits. Good to know the usual go to of Set and Sol could be problematic and that Mr Hobby solutions look good.
It’s a real minefield when certain solutions and decal combinations can be so varied in results!
Somehow I have managed to never use any of the decal setting solutions, back when I was a lad. Now I am returning to the hobby, I wanted to learn all the options. Great video for me.
I really enjoyed this one! Can’t wait to see what Kotare come up with next! Hurricane perhaps?
Looking really good, Nigel!
Is it as delicate to handle as it looks?
It looks really delicate!
Excellent progress, Nige, I'm thoroughly enjoying this. As an aside, just visited the Scale Model Shop to order some model degreaser and it's listed as discontinued. ???
I always thought to use solutions (set n sol) and leave them to wrinkle and they set down?
Thanks for the decal solution tutorial . It answered many questions I had about them.👍
