Some people might have gone overboard about him but I feel like he never really was overrated. His UFC debut was just so... spectacular and it had everyone so hyped up (look up his fight against burns for example), he proved himself to be worthy as a potential future champion immediately, but things went in rather strange directions when he had no fights for 1+ year and also had many fights cancelled as he was very sick.
