Two things my amazing great aunt taught me oh so many years ago were; always slow blink or slow wink at a cat (as you mentioned) and if you are dealing with a small non-cat animal (mice, hamsters etc ) never swallow as that’s a predator getting ready to eat. Not sure if the second one is an old wives tale but both of those pieces of advise have helped me make many cat friends and even tame a small animal or two

Nice! My friend and I are cat lovers, and one of our things is when our cats give us "the ear" when they're mildly annoyed. One ear goes back but not the other, almost like us rolling our eyes means. Happy caturday everyone!
Working as a veterinarian technician at a cat only clinics I learned how to read a cats body language and made working with feral and non-feral cats easier.
My first cat a white Persian used to bang his tail when crouched at a sliding glass door and seeing wildlife go by- a squirrel, a bird, a fox a ground hog. My second cat a calico would swish her tail when walking on furniture. I never had to dust in the 10 years I had her. And lastly but most complex. He was grey and had dense thick fur almost like a Norweign Forest cat. The whiskers above his eyes were huge! His ear hairs were thick. His whiskers to the sides of mhis mouth were so wide! But best of all when he seemed happy he extended his whiskers OUT in front. Straight out it was so funny.
Loved this video. Most I knew but there were some I didn't. Like when ur cat rubs it's head against you it is also rubbing their scent on you. So that other animals and cats know you are spoken for
I'm an animal lover, but cats are my favorite. I love your videos. Informative and knowledgeable. Thanks. I subscribed since the first time I watched your videos.
My cat is almost 3 years old, He has Never Hissed, instead he growls then hides, he’s so scared of everything, when we got him at 3months he had scars on his legs, large horrible scars, he is a rescue but there’s an unexplained past… my point being that my cat isn’t like any other, he’s very unique in his own way… I love these video and thank you. Blessings.
My Molly not only stretches on her back showing me her belly, she really wants her belly rubbed! I ignored her at first; I wasn’t going to get a good scratch or bitten by this little temptress! Sitting on my bed on day, she was going through her whole routine. Taking a chance, I rubbed her belly. She lit up like a Christmas tree! She was purring and squirming on the bed like she was in heaven. A few minutes later I stopped and she got up and licked my hand, then jumped off the bed. This little routine has become a daily occurrence.
I have a little book on " Cat Tails " the name of the book about cats' interactions with humans, I have 2 cats 3 1/2 yrs. old and very much fun and now I know more about the signals they send out to us.

That's so cute!
Very informative video!
Thanks for the video! I was hoping that you would talk about the open mouth. It seems they do this after smelling something.
That's a great point! I never knew what that meant either, about why cats keep their mouths open after smelling something!😻
@@kimberleyplatt3914 I'm sure we're in the right place to find out!😼
Sounds like you are talking about the Flehmen response.

Why were so many cats in the video at the beach?
"THEY DON'T EVEN LIKE THE BEACH!"- Taylor Swift, Anti-Hero hahahahaha
Haha, maybe the beach is like a giant litter box to them. 😹
@@ThePurringJournal Of course.... now it all makes sense
Car rides are the worst!! Thanks I enjoyed this.
Cool!
You left out lazily flopping the tail, which means that the cat is happy and relaxed.
Hi I'm From Watching Jeddah
You guys should make a channel about dogs called the barking Journal
Why does your cat keep staring at me? Oh it's because he thinks you're pretty 🐱 and he wants a belly rub, Eddie loves belly rubs!
so me and my cat have been having dominance stare downs, and i lose
