Great videos but those hairline cracks are harmless the piston crowns are very meaty on the patrols. Typical after an overheat to see hairline cracks on one piston, a bad overheat they could all crack. I cant see the crack so if its bigger than a tiny hairline crack then it must be changed because he will get some more blowby 😊 I rebuild a lot of these engines here in Ireland, mighty reliable engine if looked after and not overheated.

i’m about to replace the head in mine, are u saying if i come across a hairline crack like this it will be ok to run it like that?
Love your content. Great videos and a true workshop👍
Thanks mate
Could a cracked head prevent the engine from starting due to no compression? If it's cracked in a few places?
Thats a tough one mate , How do you know the head is cracked ???, you need to do a wet and dry compression test.
I have to pull the head on my GU Patrol soon as I suspect a cracked head, just hoping I don't find same problem with any of the pistons..
Hey mate how did you go? Did you only have a crack head as well as piston. I'm about to take head off mine aswell not sure what to expect.
Could all the Crap mounted in front the radiator aided in this engine over heating?
No
How much did this repair cost?
i don't remmember
