My aunt met Ted Bundy. She was at a small diner in Orem, Utah after a terrible break-up. She was there alone trying to pull herself together when this man walked in. He sat down and introduced himself with an alias, putting on the facade that he was trying to comfort her and make her feel better. He told her he was a psychiatrist and invited him to go with him to his office to spend the night with him so he could help her even more. She used a pay phone to ask my grandparents for permission to go, and they told her no because they didn't know him. My grandfather asked what he looked like, and when she described him, my grandfather told her no and told her to wait there so they could come pick her up and told her not to go anywhere with him. My grandfather immediately called the police and told them that Ted Bundy was at a local diner with his daughter. By the time my grandparents and the police got there, Bundy was long gone. And yes, this is a true story.

Marshall Lee Not necessarily. Jack killed in the 1880s when police work was just beginning to be established. Crime scenes were contaminated by the public and the police force was relatively small with just a handful patrolling certain areas. They were not coordinated and rarely communicated with other police divisions. I am certain if the murders occurred today, he'd be caught. He spent a long time with victims so if the crime scenes and evidence were controlled and protected instead of contaminated, he'd most likely leave a trace.

I rarely hear people talk about H H Holmes. My high school English class read Devil In The White City, and he's fascinating. Horrible, but fascinating.
Also my best friend in that class looked like Ted Bundy. Like, we had a guest lecturer from the psych department give a talk on serial killers, and when Bundy came on screen, everyone, even the speaker, did a double take and gasped "MARTIN???" He just laughed. Obviously he's not Bundy, but I did wonder if they were related

A man that had you build an section that has a chamber for human suffering, gas rooms, doors that lead to no where and other weird and creepy rooms. And they thought that was normal? I know workers only built a Part of a house and then was fired but I'm building a guy a gas room and I think that is normal? I am building a guy doors that lead to nowhere and I think that is normal? How did those people sit and say "Huh well the killer couldn't have been that guy with the gas room and other weird and unusual rooms and hallways."

First, this was the 1890s. A carpenter might not get the purpose of using a specific material for a wall, or understand the difference between water and gas pipes just at a glance.
Second, there's legitimate reasons for any number of these things. An armored room adjoining the office? Sure, for storing money and sensitive paperwork. The scratch marks came later. Soundproofed rooms in a hotel? World's oldest profession has been known to generate noise, best not to ask. Gas can be used for heating and light, or in the kitchen. If you don't know where the kitchen is, putting a gas pipe in any given place, at that time in history, would not be suspicious.
That's the fiendish cleverness of Holmes. Noone built enough strange things to register them as "off".
I'll recommend Cayleigh Elise and Rob Dyke for Serial Killer stuff, as well as Pop Trigger's Murder with Friends. I can't seem to turn up a video on Holmes from any of these specifically, but there's chills to be had all the same.

Kid, some of these guys did just that. The one thing they can't hide was the absense of the victims. There was no trace of that particular person (which is why serial killers like Jack the Ripper are still anonymous.) But really, it is in fact currently impossible to erase all traces of yourself. There are traces in such small things like the dust, the air you breathe, witnesses, etc... Although you can (theoretically) eradicate these things they were at one point there, and at that point there was a trace of you. That is still part of history and could (theoretically) be uncovered once more in ways we could not possibly imagine.

TL;DR : What you see as weird, some people see as normal. Depending on where you live, acceptance of the bizzare can be necessary, and if it's necessary it becomes normal. BTW, there are pervs everywhere. Everywhere.
California is one of the major gateways in the US where opinions and ideas from around the globe collect and cohabitate. It only stands to reason that the number of "weirdos" is larger when compared to most other states.
Think about where the majority of people enter the US (not including land borders). Texas (mainly around Austin), California, Florida, New York etc. basically all major hubs of transport and import. When compared to the majority of the US, the few states I listed tend to go against the grain in terms of what passes as "normal".
I'd guess that your perceived abundance of "weirdos" in California is a result of the much wider variety of "weird" available. There's also the fact that the "weird" is more likely to be noticed by people who aren't from California. People from places like Los Angeles or Sacramento or San Francisco etc. (because let's be honest, when people think of California I doubt they're imagining any of the small farming towns) are introduced almost daily to ideas that conflict with their own or seem alien to them just by walking down the street. Eventually people realize that the best way to live in relative peace and still have time to get things done amidst the craziness is to be more open and accepting of things that may seem strange. Thoughts gradually change from something along the lines of "wtf, why is that perfectly sane guy smashing raw eggs on his testicles for fertility while also trying to eat grass with a spatula!? Wait.. is he wearing a burger king crown?" to "Oh hey look, it's the guy I've decided to name Frank. Hi Frank."
Outside of states like California people can go for a good while without ever having to shift their perspective or consider things that are new to them. I'm not saying that's a bad thing in any way, it's just that the bar for what qualifies as weird is likely much higher in places like California while the bar for "normal" is much lower.
Let's assume for a second that in every state 1% of the population meets the local standard of "weird". In a sparsely populated state like Wyoming for example, that would make roughly 6,000 "weirdos" with around 595,000 "normal" people scattered around the state left to notice the "weird". Still assuming that only 1% of each state is "weird", that means California would have roughly 450,000 "weirdos" with around 44,000,000 "normal" people left to notice. California is about twice as large as Wyoming in terms of land yet California has around 75x more "weirdos" with around 75x more "normal" people to notice the "weird". Of course the "weirdos" would stand out if you look at it that way.
I don't get what you mean about pervs though. Sure California produces a ton of porn but that hardly makes them exceptional pervs.

    • @KKTCrawford
      @KKTCrawford 7 років тому

Well there is a lot of serial killers from the U.S. I heard of a few others one is considered the most dangerous. He is from Colombia in South America. He killed over 300+ people... His name is Luis Garavito. This I will say sucks Colombia only holds criminals even the worst for about 22 years... According to what I read he was taken by police in April 22, 1999. So he is going to be released in 4 years...

    • @Icefire667

+Ninja Weretiger He's only been confirmed to have killed 138 people. The 300+ is just how many victims he's possibly killed, but no one knows for sure. Pedro Lopez has possibly claimed 300+ victims too, but has only been confirmed of 110. He might even pass up Garavito since he's free right now.

Mr. Waffles yes because even if they only kill 3, that’s still three murders that they managed to get away with for a long while without being caught by police. Ted Bundy killed people in over a decade before being arrested, and even then, people doubted that someone as helpful and kind as him would be capable of such brutality in his kills. Same goes for John Wayne Gacy, Jeffrey Dahmer, H.H. Holmes, and many more.
