Thanks for being here! If you stick around, I'm actually working on a video about INSIDE and Everything Everywhere All at Once that should be coming out soon - and maybe something about Marvel, too? If you'd like to support the documentaries my wife and I are making in the future, check out www.labridocumentary.com to donate or just find out more info.

I couldn't be happier to hear about this project. Just the other day I was thinking about this place you keep mentioning, and wondering what on Earth it was. I think your and Debbie's style will compliment it perfectly, and be able to show in a truthful way what L'Abri really is. I wish you the best of luck and a million happy accidents while making this film. I can't wait to watch it.
    And also: MUPPETS!!!

Houston you re by far one of the best filmmakers and vid essayist on this platform. You’re really accessible and you make very honest videos. I’ve recently been trying to be more analytical with my film watching and while it’s tough. Hearing you about your relationship with religion weirdly helps as I’m from a religious family and idk how it effect my artistic endeavors but it does. Anywho thanks Houston and best of luck

Thanks for the kind words Gabriel. I’m glad to know some of the more personal stuff spoke to you.

Looks like some of the best work you’ve done. You have a great eye for capturing beautiful, symmetrical images throughout candid moments!

Well done! And the concept certainly works. I look forward to seeing the full film.

The way you let their personal lives and family moments take precedent over the details and exploration of the community, showing how that fact of simply living life after the initial experience is what the community represents in the first place, I found really captivating and made for a great thematic underline.

Right on...I'll watch it when it comes out. I've always been a little curious about Labri since I read Francis Schaffer

EDIT: So I’m watching this rn and first off is this just the two of you working on this? Because it definitely feels like a whole crew is behind this.

This looks fantastic! I'm glad you're working on this project :) I'll be in England later in the summer. I don't have the entire trip figured out yet, but a friend has suggested I visit L'abri and I'm hoping to do so.

Excited to see how the documentary goes! I learned about LAbri from you talking about it (I think in some interview you did?) and was fascinated by the idea. I’m currently studying theology in the UK and thought about visiting the Labri here, but I don’t know if it’ll work out. Glad I can at least learn about it from your documentary!

Thank you for making this. I get very discouraged that most documentaries, books, and content in general depict Christianity and Christian communities only in negative lights. And yes, there are so many Christian (or guised as Christian) communities and people that are not doing God's work and I do feel they need to be known so that people can be safe and aware, but why can't we also see the good sides of Christians and Christian community? Also note I don't know anything about this community, but you obviously view it in a positive light and it does seem genuine and wonderful from what I've seen.
I was in a campus ministry for four years that really grew my relationship with Christ. It wasn't about being a sheep, but learning to lead, to befriend people, to be encouraging and help shape the community. We had conversations about how to discuss politics and opinions in a way that wasn't arguing (wouldn't that be great if everyone learned how to do that?) and it really taught me how to listen and be there for people. To make friends with people despite having nothing in common besides being human. It was very special to me and I wouldn't be the person I am today without that.
And community is so important and modern day Americans at least don't really know what that looks like, nor do I think churches excel at that when they should. We're not really taught what that looks like or how to be there for people. I'm awful at it too by the way, but I'm hoping your documentary gets me thinking about it even more. Thank you for creating it and working on it.
