First I heard the song "IVE, David Guetta - Supernova Love" and I really liked it. It was only later that I found out about the original composition. I think this is good, as more foreigners will learn about the original song, and maybe even watch the movie. I think we need to take the current situation easier. The original title of the song in Japan «Merry Christmas on the Battlefield». For the rest of the world, this song is called "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence". From here, one can understand the indignation of the Japanese and Koreans. But I don't think the IVI group wanted to hurt anyone's feelings.
They REALLY relased this in Tokyo??? The original melody is borrowed from a war song from an old well-known japanese film, it was an INTENSELY emotional song & moment. Therefore, a lot of Japanese stans feel it was disrespectful for IVE to use the melody to make a cute little love song. They mostly blame management, of course, for this decision. But Tokyo was the WORST place to debut this song. In my opinion, they shouldn't sing this one in Japan at all.
