Lyrics:
All my life
Stared into flames
Of the gods
Of our gods
Burning
In this dreaming unease
In my eyes
Colors wane in the halls
Hallowed halls
Send my roots
Into unknown fields
Frantic minds
Bastard tongues
Spirit disease
Sent by the lost
Blinding the vision
Within
Stealing the light
For itself
Deep inside
The dark clamored
In us
Ever near
Revealed
And seen without fear
Shed the skin
Expose the heart
In twilight
Azure grace
Return this
Shadow's embrace
Transmute mind
Atomic shift
Quantum incision
Spirit vision
Sent by the one
Unified wisdom
Shining
Clearing the path
To ascend
The blood speaks to
Quicken
Eternal rivers within
From womb to the womb
Rain falls to the sea
From the leap to the ground
Falls the reed into sound
From birth unto the tomb
Love breathes to release
These shackles of mind
This empty ruler
These clouds on the screen
From the state in between
Where in our blood
We always know
In our blood
We always know
The year was 2004 and I was working at a call center (go figure) in Boise when along came this guy from Roseburg, completely down to earth and full of life. Soon we found out that we had similar musical tastes. During our conversations during break, kickin' the hackey sack he asked me if I was into The Obsessed of which I adamantly replied that I was. He then let me in on an Oregon band who he had witnessed live that had completely blew his mind. It wasn't long after that I moved to California and lost contact. If you're out there Pete my brother, thanks for introducing me to one of the greats that is YOB.
This song was in my blood long before I ever heard of this album...
"Time to wake up." *BOOM*
That's my alarm in the morning. 15 seconds of calm speaking, and if that doesn't wake me up, the massive guitar rip will.
I Just discovered It Is an Alan watts cit.!
The vocal range.. and those wacky chords man, so entrancing. Album of the year? YOB at its best
Album of the year for Rolling stone
LA
was
If you leave this on and just lay in your bed there is not a better way to spend your time.
Nothing compares...nooooothing compares...to YOB..to YOB! ;)
I never want this to end...its brilliant. Metal and Watts? Yobsolutely!
I first heard this when I was dead tired at midnight. A friend of mine, someone who'd given me plenty of music recs before, told me to listen to this. So I did. And at the 12 minute mark, I heard those words.
*Time to wake up.*
And with that, the fabric of reality was torn apart.
My soul gets off to this shit \m/
me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
man, the vocal melodies that start around 7:45 kill me every time inside. that's some raw emotion.
Reminds me of that one time in my life at that one place. Good times
My favorite doom album.
Yob is the sort of band, that gets better, instead of worse. More heavy, more real.
Most of the time, its the other way around
I saw this on a best metal list. Yes. All of my yes. I needed something like this.
An absolutely monstrous masterpiece
What is reality? Obviously, noone can say, because it isn't word. It isn't material, that's just an idea. It isn't spiritual, that's also an idea.
TIME TO WAKE UP
So irrational but at least it is thought provoking.
+eɔuarongI yW ǝƃılbO Irrational in what way?
Just because something is spoken of in terms of words or ideas it doesn't mean they don't accuratley map to reality. Science assumes reality is material and it is the most reliable mechanism we have in discerning the truth of things. There is no reason given here to believe otherwise other than we express what we know in words so what we know is necessarily unknown and untrue.
Everything you just said is just words, therefore just ideas. When you are silent, "it" speaks.
Damn. I didn't expect hearing the voice of Allan Watts (around 11:00)
Allan Watts.. Someone every human being should know about and study.
I've also noticed alan watts lectures in both Starfucker and Giraffes? GIraffes! albums, really interesting it's here too.
Was Watts at the very beginning saying "Time to wake up."
I wish that “Time to wake up” intro would wake me up at night
brilliant & massive when performed live
This music touches me very deeply. i'm in love....
The first time I heard this song, it was in radio. Yesterday.
It's sooooo genius! \m/
some man named jason i just met here n elma @ the schouweiler store just turned me on too yob> ill get bk too ya bout what i think they sound awesome sooooo far thanx jason
Truly amazing masterpiece of the inner torment of mankind. Love it so much because there's triumph in the understanding of the mystery. Tremendous!
Thanks for the upload. Hail from Eugene Oregon. Mike is a great guy. He played guitar in front of me years ago and gave me a ton Cd... I didn't know what yob was... I sold the CD.. I do appreciate the encounter I had... This was 2004 I think..
you write like a novel
+jimencam I didn't know novels wrote
Entry XIIXV - "We have created a terrible thing in the search for divination. It ripped though the soul of deacon and infected the very foundations of stone below us. The last of the acolytes have been laid to rest in the great chapel but the creature got there before we could. They are lost to the maelstrom of the fire we created. We must forgo our lives and ensure this unholy beast never leaves the monastery. Our eternal watch begins and our prophesied doom awaits."
It sounds like Clive Barker.
Halo fan?
melodies are beautiful!!
Slow Sludge-Brilliant
Would love to see this band live
Dude, you should. Go see them live. They're incredible. I just saw them on the first show of their tour last night. Simply amazing. Nicest dudes, too.
+andrew minard I did last year, it was one of the craziest experiences I've seen at a show, the crowd was mostly older! Like avg 35-40. Even some way older people, everyone was swaying back and forth, not talking just 'feeling it' some people openly wept. Its therapy!
And they would sincerely love to see you
Thanks uploader!
It's time to wake up
I love Alan watts speech..
Holy fuck, this is amazing!
Hammer!!!
This makes me think, like listening to Pink Floyd. First taste of doom metal, and i love it!
Next, try Fister. They absolutely crush.
Enjoy your new life.
Its like the doom version of Breathe haha
This is my favorite album of 2014 \m/
me too
Fuckin A!
Time to wake up
All of these people trashing YOB...how? Like what do you consider music? What are you doing with your life?
Most people dont like doom.
no ones trashing yob, if you know anyone that does you need new people in your life
what does deserve to be trashed is your thin blue line pfp
awesome!
Devastating!!!
It takes a certain amount of talent and vision to produce an album like this. But…I just can’t get into it.
When the time comes, the phone will ring. And it may not be this album calling, but something just as ground breaking, and something you can grasp.
Heavy as balls! True Doom!
my poor "SMOKED OUT BRAINZZZ"
monstrous
That Riff!!! Fuuuuuck!!!!
God dam!!!
12:12 i peed a little
This is what it feels like to have a double cab grow arms and punch you in the face
True
Hi. I am stuck on track two. I fear the next step. DOOM lives and fucks with my brain. cool.
Who are all these people in the comments who don't even like doom metal? If you don't like it, don't listen to it. Go watch some other video.
YOB rules! There is a lot of weak-minded people who don't know what real music is if it came up and slapped them in the face; the hell with them! Too much garbage on the radio! Metal rules
What does title of your band mean? Lol)
This song reminds me of Type O'Negative somehow
There's this trend nowadays that says you can start a band that will release an album and play big shows without playing a single actual RIFF.
Speed the song up 2x and you will find exactly what you're looking for
Tromm Norse There are riffs. Can't you hear? Why are you so objective towards this?
What's up with all this doom metal coming out? Nothing technical?
I know what you mean. A lot of doom/sludge bands that would rather punch their guitars instead of playing riffs. I think it's so easy to play this kind of music that this tendency is going to last for a long time.
Tromm Norse
tealosophy Am I not letting you?
There's good Doom (My Dying Bride, Sins of thy beloved, Draconian, Ahab), and then there's Yob. Ahab at least creates some atmosphere with their music.
Brainwashing white America? That there is where I sign off.
wtf did I just listen too? a 16 minute intro? that was crap.
It's called Doom Metal! Fair enough if you don't like it not many people have mature enough tastes to appreciate it.
Benjamin Fell
oh Yeah!!
doom metal is all about the atmosphere which it creates. they make drones that resonate inside your soul, it's way more thoughtful and puts the listener into a different perspective, instead of just trying to impress them with another guitar solo
You listened to a song you didn't like for 16 minutes and then commented on it? Why?
I kept waiting for the intro to be over and the song to start, plus I have no life.
That Riff!!! Fuuuuuck!!!!
