Lately I've been praying that I would find some money for school anywhere. I've been stressing like crazy because my tuition costs a lot, and my family can barely afford it. So whenever I listen to this song, it really just calms my nerves and reaffirms my faith.
This whole album is the summer of 2009 for me. It's cycling to school in the morning at 16 years old thinking about some girl or other. Can't say I've listened to it much since then but it will always have a special place in my heart.
I remember one day life was was really getting to me so I told my parents I was going for a drive. I went to this creek a little far from my house where there was this boulder or rock that my grandma would take me too as a kid . I sat in the very spot that I did so many years ago . I put my headphones in . Leaned back and closed my eyes and cried as I felt water from the rain leave a trail of goose bumps as the breeze brushed on my skin and for that short moment I was gonna be ok.
i find this beautiful and sad at the same time kind of like having the most perfect summer with someone you love and then as an elder no longer having the company of that said person.... and remembering that beautiful memory of that perfect summer... and knowing that it will never happen again and that all you can do is remember that beautiful memory... and shed a tear or two but not of sadness but of love and happiness that you were able to experience that beautiful memory
The narrator addresses his wife about his death. First in remebrence of them, then in talking to the narrators father and children. Then it ends with him asking his wife if she will feel nostalgic about their time together. The life and death of two close loved ones and inevitability that they will one day pass. Be happy and rejoice for your loved ones.
I am completely in love with this song. It reminds me of all the good memories and moments I had with the one's I love and the one's I'll later in the future,
This song makes me think about how I've already picked out the poem I want my spouse to read aloud at my funeral after I've gone, in eighty years or so.
EWWW When I die, My atoms will come undone. I'll be space dust once again. The wind will carry me, Scatter me everywhere, Like dandelions in springtime. I'll visit worlds and alien moons; It will be so damn poetic-- Until I land on your sandwich.
When I get married, the bridal party is going to walk down the aisle to this song... this is the first song I have ever heard by Iron and Wine and I still listen to it everyday!
I just learned how to play this a couple of weeks ago and its one of my favorite songs to play and everytime I play it for somebody they are always like "Who is this?"
This was in the Movie "Two Weeks" it's played at the end, it's a tender movie, ...as we age we deal with loss, the actors did a Beautiful job and I love Sally Fields so much! 🙏🏽🏞️🙏🏽☀️💎🌹
Still one of my all-time favourite songs with a subtext about death and loss, up there with "Washing of the Water" by Peter Gabriel. Sad, beautiful, and moving.
This is my favourite song off one of my favourite albums. I love Sam Beam. I met him in Ohio a couple of years and he's such a nice humble guy too. If you like this song, I would recommend Mignonne by Ali Murray or anything by Ali Murray for that matter. So sad and dreamy and beautiful...
Well i did see ardens playlist video and the commercial and the last song however, i was an iron and wine fan way way way way before any of this. Congrats to him on becomming more known. he is a fantastic artist(: -3
This is a good song....gotta give it to them. That guitar is priceless. Those voices harmonize to perfection. Good stuff. Would have been sweet to have been able to be a part of this in the studio.

My atoms will come undone.
