Thundercat was struggling to finish the verses whilst in the studio due to being so emotional, if you listen closely you can hear where Fly Lo had to clip some of the verses and echo it out; read about it in an interview he did for Apocalypse. Truly truly beautiful track.
I'd pay to see him perform this song live with an orchestra and the conductor who put this the og song together
Yeesssss all of this!!!
He should play it with the Metropole Orchestra, it plays with these kind of artists
@@quint555 word
I saw him playing it live yesterday
@@Idk-ni3vd amazing
One week since my Dad passed away. This song has comforted me through many tough seasons before and now it comforts me again. Thank you Thundercat, Flylo and Ryuichi Sakamoto. I miss you, Dad and love you so much ❤️ Love your Champion xx
Yo también, estoy estoy lagrimeando, quería nucho a mi viejo y lo extraño y esto sobre todo la parte instrumental es como si manteniera una comunicación con él una conexión conbel a oesar debque eaté en el cielo.
The sample is Ryuchi Sakamoto's "El Mar Mediterrani", which was used in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
I know I'll see you again
In another life
Thank you for sharing your love and your light
Though we say goodbye
We will say hello again
You'll always live in our hearts and our minds
Thank you for being a friend
That you were to me
I cherish the moments of all our good time
You traveled beyond
Your legacy lives on
Go forward as the eagle
To your endless majesty
I know I will see you again
In another life
Thank you for sharing your light with the world
Travel beyond
Your legacy lives on
Now enter the void
Forever
Forever the Jondy.
I lost my baby brother this week. Thank you for posting the lyrics to this beautiful ode to a dearly loved friend.
@@wedamammynuns I feel u ..I lost my baby brother some time ago too
This sounds like music from a Haiyo Miyazaki movie. I love it. Sorry for your loss, thundercat
Its a Ryuchi Sakamoto sample. El Mar Mediterrani. Dope as hell.
THANK YOU!!!!
Yung Napkin ryuichi. My bad. No prob. Its da opening theme for 92 Olympics.
+sleepnabox I love Sakamoto's work. His album 1996 is one of my favorites.
+Will ! Ryuichi Sakamoto pretty much invented the Ghibli music sound. Joe Hisaishi, the composer for a lot of Miyazaki's work hasn't hidden the fact that he was influenced by Mr. Sakamoto
This song always punches me in the throat. I don't know how he can stand to sing it.
It punches me right in the tear ducts
Man, my eyes filled up with tears the first few seconds of this song. Then came the lyrics and 😭. As if all of a sudden I understood the meaning of life and death. Thank you, Thundercat. RIP Austin Peralta and the rest of the fallen soldiers.🙏🏽
Antoinette Buchanan u and me both...couldn't stop da tears..
Gives me chills every time I listen to it. The tremendous amount of love he has for his friend Austin is melting. True friendship, still together in spirit. RIP Austin Peralta!
RIP Nate, RIP Grandma Rubena, RIP pipo. This song will forever connect me and my heart to all of you. You entered the void but will forever be alive in my being and in everything I do. I carry onward and forward for you. xoxo
Major Neptune’s vibes from the symph cords in the begging. RIP Austin!!
This song sounds like I’m caught in the middle of a storm. I love it.
I don't know why, but this song has given me hope.
Smoothy Criminal like you could conquer Rome
I can finally listen to it and smile and reflect on the good memories
One of the best tributes, sorrowful due to losing a friend but hopeful that you'll see them again, along with cherishing memories of them. Beautiful.
I recently discovered Thunder cat only a few ago during the beginning of the pandemic and I was introduced to this beautiful, heartbreaking song that strongly reflects my life and the lovely memories and the people who inspired them. God continue to bless musicians who have heart to touch others. The tears may flow, but the smile returns also.
Check out Austin Peralta's album if you haven't. Really liked it when it was released and was sad about his passing
A beautiful tribute. Rest in paradise, Austin.
Want this played at my funeral
can't..stop...listening. This song makes me cry but i keep listening. beautiful lyrics.
Made me cry too, a few times. But after, that kind of view through life (lyrics) comes with an smile by his side
Never have I heard so much sadness and happiness, in one song. Truly beautiful.
Loved this song for years and unfortunately it only hits closer and closer to home as time goes on.
I cry when I hear this song..but I always come back
Back 💔 love you my boy 😪🕊️
Such a shame about Austin. I can only imagine the insane music that he would have been making with the Brainfeeder artists today. RIP.
I just found out one of my friends from high school passed away yesterday. This song offers a little bit of solace. I am reminded of how he was there for me when I needed him and also of the fact that he was a genuinely good person. I regret not seeing him since our days in college. He played the guitar and the mandolin. I'd like to think that he will now get to jam with all of the musicians he admired from times past. I'd like to think that eventually I will be jamming with them too. Thank you for being my friend, Tyler. I will remember you whenever I play my guitar.
This hit me hard... it made me miss my favorite dog .. RIP Pucci Mane. 😢😭😭😭😭😭😭
We still miss you Austin!!!
Get in a dark place, lay down close, your eyes and think about someone you like or love
The little jingles after his singing always get to me for some reason. I just lay and stare into the ceiling listening to the little chimes feeling sad
I'm cruising in a boat from mandalay to Bagan Myanmar. This is absolutely magic in the moment.
RIP Ryuichi Sakamoto.
Definitely one of the best tributes I have ever heard from a musician.....bravo sir....we will all enter the void...it is unavoidable...the least we can do is to learn to accept this inevitability and appreciate the ones who go before us....
miss u dad ❤️
This song is my favourite... Just the pure emotion thundercat felt, he cried extremely while recording this song, as well flying lotus, this song really makes me wanna cry just hearing it
I love you, auntie Betty! Thank you for sharing your love and your light.
This deserves way more views.

Beautiful score-like jazz fusion stuff for Thundercat's lost friend. Bought it! Thundercat takes me to an open field of wondrous memories with this one. Just so touching.

Thundercat found out about you a few days ago and started listening from the first album then did some research due to the comments sorry for your loss and this track is truly beautiful
Takes you on a journey
dope tribute to his friend...that's a real friendship...he always shouts him out....
Is there any other music like this out there? Makes you feel like you're travelling through the clouds and or space.

i love this song so much
This was a beautiful experience. Thanks, Thundercat
Sounds so much like if this song can be the theme to The Neverending Story...and the Fantasia book about "The Nothing".. makes a lot of sense if you think about it. Bittersweet symphony. RIPower Austin.
Jackson, I will join you in the ether when I shed this form.
Amazing Song
This is one of two songs that without fail makes me tear up every time. The other is 'place to be' by hiromi uehara
thank you thundercat. this song gives me a sense of reassurance
Sublime
That was Ill that was perfect
Austin is amazing. Nice tribute!
I love you grandpa, grandma, mom, and my homeboy Stephan. Let’s run this simulation one more, I need to know I can see you all again, I only wish I could time travel before that time I do this again, with a blank slate. I want so badly to have your warmness touch my cold heart. 23 years alive and I’m utterly miserable; only here to await suicide following the loss of my other loved ones
❤️ we all in this . let’s live the life for our loved ones who couldn’t
Just saw this today..was sent to me by bro-in-law as we are coming up on the one year mark of losing the physical presence of his brother, my husband, my best friend, the love of my infinity, and only real safe place I ever had in this life. So I can relate to the sentiments you express. At the same time, hearing someone else express thoughts of leaving, makes me want to reach out and ask you to reconsider. You're only 25. And yes in deep grief. I'm 53 with much less life before me than you. But you know what? What kept me here at first was our dog...I can't leave her with additional pain to lose him AND me...and that's still my primary reason for staying, but i'm also afraid that if i take myself out that i'll have to repeat this lesson in the next life. And I never want to feel this completely destroying pain again. I'm still mad and don't understand how long I'm expected to go on without him, or WHY. But I wanted to let you know, even if you don't have any real friends, like myself, and can't find a reason to stay, consider that one...if we only have to "get through it" this life, maybe we should stick it out...just so we don't have to repeat it. I def don't ever want to feel this again.
Hope this helps.. try talking to them too...they are still with you...this I know.❤
this song mace me cry
This sounds like a sample from Star Fox. It's epic none the less #ThundercatHoooooo
Nice, I like it. Love, G/dad
Rip Josh Shephard. I will see you in the next life.
"enter the beyond"
❤
For those of you who don't know, the third part of the song (Enter The Void) is a redux of Echidna's Arf by The Great George Duke.
As a huge Zappa and Duke fan as well as thundercat, I don't hear it.
Feel like all artists should try to make something beautiful dedicated to their friends like this within their lifetime.
sounds like it should be sampled for a beat on an old Kanye record or something. Love it
Message to Mac
Rest in peace Teddy Ruxpin, my dog

S/o to Ryuichi Sakamoto, R.I.P. Austin Peralta
Just read this 😭😭:
Via Flying Lotus’s Twitter commentary:
"u wanna see some sad shit.. see us try to record this song about @AustinPeralta … he would try to record. then he would cry.. then he would be stronger i would hear him sing this acapella because he had headphones on. id cry … hearing him try to fight thru crying to sing this.. damn. … so.. we gave up … we said… fuck it.. make the demo vocals sound as good as possible. i couldn’t finish it so i passed this song to @daddykev to mix the vox. i remember playing this for @strangelooptv and when i heard him cry i knew we did the right thing. i was also worried that nobody would get it but people who knew us or knew austin. so many people have told me its their favorite [though]. thats how i knew it would be impossible for @Thundercatbass to fail."
Do you ever just get sad over a relative you never knew?
Enter the void-d 😔

Who's lord are you praising?
+loveflowers39 Don't know why you're asking this random question if this wasn't posted Thundercat himself.
+loveflowers39 whomever's I want.
*Teddy Grant* its not thundercat
According to Wikipedia, Thundercat is a Christian. I have caught a few biblical references in some of his songs. His attitude toward death in this song is a beautiful expression of that faith and eternal reassurance.
