Hello sir. I've been watching your video for about a week. I am enjoying all the different colors you represent in this video. I've been an jazz organist for about 40 years and I seem to have gotten to a place where I am bored. This video has put a spark in me, thank you!
I was playing saxophone with my band the other day and I applied like 25% of the concepts you gave here and it just expanded my solos greatly. Piano player was impressed. Those diminished scales and pentatonic and alt chord arpeggios just brought it to another level. Usually I just railroad through with D ionian. Thanks again

I am preparing for a rehearsal with a group and would like to improvise. I play a soprano sax in Bb, so I guess I shall have to improvise over an E major scale with four sharps (a little troublesome on a sax). Would you have a suggestions to a good and somewhat simple scale to use? I am not a very good improviser, but played classical oboe for nearly forty years, so my technique is ok. All the best, Lars

Ah not Bach's voicing... Thanks for this, cool sheet too! That root 4th 5th into 3/6/7 too. Tried figuring out the F#7 with that myself and I seemed to just get a whole tone scale chopped a bit. Will have to read what you got on the sheet. Oh Hmm... That 4 minor is the F#s melodic minor so I can play also the diminished on the 4 minor! Discovered a very nice playing young italian guitarist that played this with Al Dimeola .... Matteo Mancuso ... most players in the genre dont use his pick technique. More common in classical

Hi you could have used Box chord on Gmaj7#11: G-B-C#-F# or in your improvisationn! A# D E A(I knew this theory and called it modal approach(because and and the same shape oof a chord that could have any function...But your teachings are helping me so much!1 because I am more a theorist than Piano player yet...I am working hard to come over that aspect, that's why I went to two piano teachers, the last one could tell me a few ne things the minor upperstructures but in fact that here the same as the octatonictriad#9's...so I knew them without knowing..I hadn''t realy been focuusing on the Minor Triads 4 of them on the dominants yet (whil;e studying jazz guitar, I also studied to less and a bit to less standards, but still I studied what I could..))

chick would tell you to practice and tackle it one thing at a time but as sparse and diverse as could be . just go learn each thing you dont get.

Rootless voicings F A B E is box 1. Can be used for G7, Db7 alt ; Dm6/9; Bm7b5.
B E F A is box 2, same usage. Flat the A for box 3 - use as G7, Bb7, Db7, E7 (with various alterations)

What would help even more is if you could do a video where you slowed down those runs you use and show your fingering . Practically no jazz piano videos on UA-cam give any fingering advice, the best I have ever found on this is the right hand according to art Tatum book. But it's a specific style of runs
Why does that B7 chord at the end pull so hard back to the Gmaj at the start? It’s not III to I, not V to I so why does the Gmaj feel like a resolution???

Sometimes that 4th finger feels very comfortable. It might mean that you have to switch fingers more often to get to the next chord but that usually isn't a problem.

Chopin had some real lines to consider on his music. Modal, pentatonic are all there along with major and minor scales. Liszt utilized the diminished scale. 🎉❤🎉

Everyone used the diminished, certainly by the 19th century. You can also see, in Chopin among others, what jazz musicians think of as Barry Harris movements to vary a major chord (alternating inversions of maj 6ths and diminished).
Peter, adding to what you commented, there are many who don't have any idea what a profound influence some of the earlier music had on jazz, and then what brilliant things the jazzers did with it. Mussorgsky, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Lizst, Debussy, Scriabin, and believe it or not, John Philip Sousa all had a great influence. Scott Joplin, took the form for his Ragtime pieces from Sousa's marches. And let's not forget the great master, J. S. Bach, who had an incalculable influence. Bach's brilliance even made it all the way to Keith Jarrett.

if it all fits together with Bassplayer! Any input?

not sure what the spanish scale is - give me the notes. the bass is mostly on roots and 5ths unless you have a very adventurous bass player.

Go for it. The chords don't change quickly and improvising can be reduce to just a few scales - mostly D major - good luck!
Why is it G major if it has 2 sharps? Shouldn't that be B minor which would go with the D major improv?

Why did you play A B C#.... and call that an A pentatonic? (as opposed to ABC...)
Pentatonic scales are basically the 1,2,3,5,and 6 of a major scale. C# is the 3 in an A major scale
please refrain from using the term "Bach voicing" as that implies that Bach created and implemented those harmonies into music but a more proper term would be Figured Bass Voice Leading as that was very common even before Bachs time due to the nature of composing using figured bass and the corresponding voice leading techniques
