@MrMacRight Great to see you testing out so many games on the latest iMac. I played dozens of games on the original Bondie Blue iMac in 1998 and have very fond memories of Mac gaming, so I think the iMac being a capable gaming machine is important as an entry point for Mac gaming. I think we can both agree that 8GB as the base memory is likely to create a really poor experience. And with this video it shows they really need to include a few more GPU cores to make this machine capable of 60 FPS gaming.
I would like to say that I think all games should be tested with upscaling technology disabled, to see the true power before spatial and temporal upscaling is applied.
I picked up the base M3 Max 14" (14 core CPU/30 core GPU/ 36 GB memory) and I'm running tests to see how it holds up for gaming.

Great in-depth analysis. Do any of these games support rumble/vibration when using a gamepad like the Xbox Wireless Controller under macOS? My reason for asking is I have tried several titles under the Apple Arcade trial that came with my Mac, and while while my gamepad supports vibration, none of the games I have tested on the App Store or on Apple Arcade have the ability to use the feature. Currently the only way I have seen thus far to utilize the vibration function of the gamepad, is to use a console emulator like Dolphin with console games that have the feature baked in. I have heard that the newly released Grid Legends features vibration / rumble support.

Using software, especially that of games that draw more than the installed ram available would likely put additional wear and tear on one's SSD, leading it to eventual premature failure, rendering the computer dead as a result.
If your computer is switching to a swap state on a regular basis then this will likely shorten the lifespan of the computer significantly. This speculation is based on an early bug on the M1 Air which was triggering constant swapping and the hard drives began to show through monitoring software significant wear.

    • @chidorirasenganz
      @chidorirasenganz 6 місяців тому +3

It would be way easier to recommend this iMac if the base version was equipped with 10-core GPU, 16GB of ram, 512GB of storage and lastly have Touch ID. The next step up should have been equipped with the M3 Pro with 18Gb og ram and maintain the storage of 512Gb. That would offer great value!
Currenly the new MacBook Pro lineup is better value for money, which should not be the case, because the Imac has a worse screen, even though it's larger. It features less ports and doesn't have a big battery inside.
Therefore it should be cheaper. But I think the market dictates the move towards laptops.

Who is the target audience? The same people who were blown away by the M1, owners who also want a wonderful built-in screen. In late 2020 when the M1 launched UA-cam was saturated with performance test videos; the M1 MacPro blew the competition away in practically every test the Mac Air delivered great results with throttling. I always have to raise a smile when a reviewer says, "Family computer"; even the basic M3, like the M1 before it, destroys the Intel equivalent and still triumphs in high-end, professional video and audio editing and rendering/production, arguably the reason the M3 was designed. In summary, your M3 iMac has all the benefits discussed above with gaming as a bonus. Ta.

Macs aren't really for gaming, but If you plan to do any form of gaming on a mac, you should probably at least get the upgrade from 8 to 16 GB of uniform memory.
Both PS5 and series X have 16 gigabytes of shared memory, and most gaming PC's these days are being built with 32 or 64 gigbaytes of dedicated memory, and their GPU's often have 8 gigabytes + of Vram too.
The uniform memory in the macs means all of it is shared between GPU and system, and a lot of modern titles are filling up the Vram very quickly due to the high resolution textures and highly detailed models and environments.

I bought the Mac Mini M1 a few months after its launch... I have never regretted the purchase and only now am I able to appreciate its potential thanks to the maturity of the libraries and software. I see this new generation of M3 as a wasted opportunity and a reduction in the technological advantage that Apple had gained with the new Silicon SOC. And it's a real shame... it seems that Apple, despite its statements, really doesn't want to break into the gaming market.

There are major gaps between two operating systems and also core differentiation between Arm and intel x86 or x64 instruction sets. I expect a complete reworks of those game titles for full compatibility. Because I doubt that those games have been programmed with intel only in mind of developers. And also, games are built on graphic frameworks, like unreal engines, but unreal engines have built on intel. So maybe if Apple were serious, they would collaborate with game engine vendors, directly

nobody buys Mac for gaming. even if it runs smooth at 60fps..
because not all games will be supported after all.. (PS5, XBOX, Steam, Epic, Gamepass etc. support hundereds-thousands of games)

You can buy a PC that will perfectly run games + will be much better for working purposes. I cant see any reason to buy a Mac.

    Lol. Performance was laughable.
Lies of P, No mans sky, Resident Evil Village are native on Mac but it runs as same as RTX 3050 lol 😂😂.
Even a RTX 3050 6gb laptop run these games as same as this Mac for less than half the price of iMac version he using 😂😂😂.
Even a 600$ pc with Ryzen 5 5600 and RX 6600 will run these games even better 😂😂.

Apple is extremely capitalist, extremely greedy, and extremely selfish. Always with his smile abusing customers. It's about time to stop buying Apple products.

@@chidorirasenganz True, but Microsoft and Intel are more pro consumer and transparent. You have a lot options to go from low to premium builds for whatever uses you are planning to use your PC.
