Some bands divert and follow trends, try to go mainstream and loose a lot of old fans, but not AB. You could literally listen to Broken Wings right after Holiday and think they were on the same album
I'm so happy the production quality finally matches the quality of their writing. So many of their albums were so overly compressed. The mastering on this new album is fantastic.

I don’t blame the producer, I blame whoever they got to master the record. If that hadn’t happened I would listen to it more! I was hoping the second version of the album they released would have fixed all that but nope!
Mix on the new album is massive. Especially on good speakers and FLAC tracks. Drums and bass are fucking rumbling while still retaining perfect clarity, guitars are tight and punchy, and Myles' vocals are piercing through exactly where you want them without being too compressed and overlayered. Whoever engineered this album should be on good money.

Followed them since forming after the demise of Creed, every album just got better and better. Pawns and Kings is absolutely banging, not one bad track and this is up there as one of my fav's.
from my personal standpoint, this album succeeds where ghost's impera failed. AB showed that you can grow and evolve and become more radio friendly and reach bigger audiences WITHOUT compromising your art and alienating old fans. this is what evolution without selling out looks like! (very personal take so don't crucify)
