It does make me wonder why so many areas are still so poor when they do have some people leave and send money back home... Need more people like Akon who make money overseas and then help better their communities back home.

They get paid less, worked harder, have less rights, etc. So a job that might pay someone native to an area 100% might pay a migrant worker 10%. It's awful, and it leads to situations like this where even if the money is being sent back, and it IS more than they could make at home, it's not significant enough to solve the underlying financial instability and issues.
Well yes and no. Given how many people would witness that the barber was just given half a month pay he would get robbed by someone. Giving someone that much cash in public just screams like a dumb idea. I mean you wouldnt give someone 1-2k$ cash in the middle of a business in a poor area near yuo. especially not if 10+ witness are there watching closely what you do

As a current resident of Japan, it pains me to see other foreigners take advantage of the peoples kindness and blatantly disrepects the rules, because if this keeps on happening, other foreigners will be seen in a bad light. I sincerely hope this is the last we are going to hear from the stupidity of foreign youtubers in Japan, and the Japanese government makes an example out if them.

I genuinely feel so bad for all of the sweet and nice people there in Japan, it makes me upset to see him and his friends do this to them and really angry. One of the things I loved about being there was how kind the people were there when I stayed there and because of people like them, I feel like they will change and feel like they can’t trust us because of the thought of having their kindness and trust misplaced. I hope that dude gets what he deserves and all of his friends as well

Maybe I had a different experience, but I felt like people in Japan where as nice as anyone else in any other country lol. Nothing was really that much different. I feel like it has more to do with a bias people have and an expectation when entering the country. So anytime some does something super simple that’s just a simple nice gesture, even if it barely happens, it stands out to them more.

It genuinely is. It might not make sense to some people but you can tell it's how they interact and the dogs are definitely happy. Frankie loves jumping up on the cat tree and Oompa helps her get down. It's ridiculous some people actually get mad about it. when I visited Japan, it started raining and my friend and i didn’t have a umbrella. a local must have saw us soaking wet and just gave us her umbrella with a smile and left. the japanese people are truly so kind and he’s fully taking advantage of that.

I went to Japan for a short time and I am as American as can be, although the first couple days, I was kept out of activities with some new friends and others, until I found out it was because they didn’t know if I would like to hang out with them, the locals are so nice, sad to see people doing this to great citizens
