These 3 sites on Holyhead, Anglesey, are among my favourite ancient standing stones in the country either for there siting, views or unusual history and they are in a close proximity

I'm grateful for this video's exploration of the standing stone sites on Holy Island, North Wales. The cinematography effectively showcases the natural landscapes and remarkable architectural features of these sites. The inclusion of historical and archaeological context enriches the viewing experience, creating a deeper appreciation for these extraordinary relics of the past.

I have visited Holy Island. I love the place. Many of the stones have beautiful shapes.
Its a fantastic place, the stones despite erosion look like they were chosen for there appearance

Great and interesting video :)
thank you, glad you appreciated it as you from the area
Thanks for the video. I was on Anglesey last month with a disabled relative so couldn’t go stone hunting. Did go to the burial chamber and noticed the standing stone in the field. The other two definitely remind you of the Giants Grave In Cumbria which are all that are left of a long Barrow. Both sites near the sea too. 🙂
There is another ruined burial chamber in the area I managed to find, there are so many coincidences and similarities around the country don't you think
I did also manage to go to Lligwy burial chamber near Moelfre., Bryn Celli Ddu and a mushroom type one a couple of miles up the road. I often wonder why these type of burial chambers were not constructed In Cumbria, different tribes with different burial practices maybe. The only possible one is a small limestone one near Birkrigg Circle but some think it may be a natural formation.
@@jenniferharrison4319 yes i went to Lligwy burial chamber again, i love the old church as well which I have re done a video, I know what you say about different tribes having different practices but contrary to that the Cotswold seven type of long barrow appearing in north wales at Capel Garmon near Betws-y-Coed, it might be tribes influencing other or an exchange of ideas
What do yo think?
Not sure what to think to be honest. It would depend on whether the Cotswold Seven tombs were being constructed around the same time as those in Wales. Some of the ones in Wales date back to 4000BC. 3800-3500 BC for the Cotswold Seven ( just looked it up). Possibly a transfer of ideas or maybe an important person from the people who built the Cotswold tombs died in that area.🤔 Even the ones on Anglesey were built at different times and the styles varied. The one near Holyhead had three phases of building.
@@jenniferharrison4319 We know bugger all realy do we, this is what gets me about them and the standing stones
