On the stage select screen, you both need to hit square then L1. That will turn off gear stats and stuff.
You both need to click it, even if only one of you has gear. It will only turn off stats if you both do it.
It doesn't matter to me. They were trying t turn on competitive, so I was just trying to help them.

To get the lasers to be long you have to hit the meter burn button while the laser meter is full, it doesn't take any meter however.
