Really considering this career path. I already have a Bachelors but am not enjoying the work plus where i can work in the country is limited. This sounds like a great career path

@@spopparty actually I’m a life insurance agent now. I couldn’t even get my foot in the door as a medical receptionist anywhere. But I have an associate’s degree in communications so I started applying to entry level jobs for recruiting and insurance and I got a couple interviews and landed a job as a life insurance agent. Took a course that only takes a week and then took the state test and passed on my first try. Doing this I will be making more than enough money and helping people. I’m so excited. I kid you not I was giving myself until July to find a job and if I couldn’t, I was going to apply to chipotle and go back to school for speech pathology. But now I’m training at this amazing job. So, you don’t have to stick it out with something that’s not making you happy just because you invested time and money into it. Sorry that was such a long response lol but yeah I hope you land a career that makes you happy, whether it’s medical coding or not🙂
I have 10 years experience with billing/coding. I’m studying now for my CPC to take in August. I took Danita M. Ruszkowski boot camp and it was very informative and let me know what I need to study and what my strengths are. Good luck everyone!
Talking 6-fig. salaries is moot when I worry of revenue-conscious employers outsourcing/offshoring this work. How does an employee guard against it as a med. coder?
Nobody tells you once you finish the medical coding program and pass the final boards exam you will not be able too find a JOB. Many companies are only hiring coders with 2+ years experience. It's pointless. Really delicious. Trust me I know. I'm a new medical coder and have been looking for a job for over 3 weeks now. You would think that I would've found one by now because i have a 10+ year medical background but nope, nothing. How the h*ll can someone have experience without getting the experience? 🤔🤨🙄🤦🏽♀️😩😡
@@ambitiousbeauty1013 Hi, yes I have a coding job. My main experience is Risk Adjustment as I went back to get my CRC. Took me a total of 5 months to land something. Found something in 2 weeks after getting my CRC tho. It's possible to find something it's just extremely hard. I have been with my current job for a month now and my title is a Clinical Documentation Coder.
Sir I'm a BA English graduate from India I have done a medical coding certification program and passed my certified professional coder (cpc). I wanted to go to abroad. Is any job opportunity as I'm a fresher.....if not will I able to get a course related to medical coding and come to abroad ......which place will suit me better
Trying to decide between medical billing/coding or sterile processing....... do medical billing/coding professionals still get to learn medical terminology?
I have been a coder for about 1 yr. I can tell you that not only you "get" to learn medical terminology, its actually to your benefit if you do. Its hard to read charts without knowing at least the basic abbreviations and anatomical terms.
Hi Suzann, unfortunately, we're not a coding organization. But if you're looking for available medical coding jobs check out some of the groups that exist on Facebook! :)
It all depends on where you live. And the company you work for. I had a friend that had 12 years of experience and a certification. And began working for a different hospital making only $18 and hour. To me that is a huge pay cut.
My friend makes $40 an hour doing level 1 trauma coding working from home she is certified for inpatient coding which requires more knowledge I’m going to start with the CPC I graduated years ago with an RHIT degree but didn’t sit for the exam
a little deceptive with the title should have made it how to make more than 50K as a medical coder since most people even with certifications wont make 6 figures without having 10 plus years under their belt and even with states and cost of living factors medical coding isnt a very high paying career right from the start. If you could make 70 or 80k as soon as you graduate and a certification or 2 maybe this video would be a little bit more helpful
This is just superb, been searching for "official cpc certification study guide free download" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Lukesey CPC Carnage - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my mate got great results with it.
Agree. I just got recertified with a CPC-A in Dec 2019. Havent been able to get coding jobs. All the recruiters & hiring Mgrs ask for recent experience. Experience in school doesnt count. I did that "Xternship" 10 yrs ago too. Several hiring mgrs I met when I worked in release of Information laughed & said that wouldnt help. When the quarentine lifts, I bnb have a billing job I was offered to try training. Hope it's a foot in the door.
I am in Florida, I don't know anyone who makes 6 figures- that's with 2 certifications and over 12 years of experience. You can probably make 6 figures if you work 2 full time jobs, but that defeats the purpose. Right now 8/22 an experienced inpatient medical coder with 2 certs are making $27-$30. If you want to make more, but not have benefits, then go contract coding...they are making $35-$40. Again, I am only talking about florida. A lot of people get in to coding because they think they will be making tons of money, so not true.
Tanq for the information. Am from India. 1 how much experience needed to reach 1 lakh salary in India. 2 if want go aboard which country offers awesome package???? Plz suggest.

Hi, iv been a billing coding specialist for 6yrs and I have almost quadrupled my salary over the yrs. Tips... use what you learn in school and name everything on you resume as experience, plus join linked in; take the first position you are offered out of school, don't waste time get your for in the door. The most important.. it sounds crazy but, do not be loyal unless you luck up on an extraordinary physician who treats and pays you as family, use each job as a financial stepping stone, never go backwards in pay when going to a new job. Changing jobs every 2yrs wil increase your income by dollars a year instead of the cents you will get in raises staying at the same job. Take things seriously you will be coding hundreds of thousands to millions in services. Lastly when you are at work learn everyone's job. The more you know and are able to view the full billing process as a whole and not just your part the more valuable you are.

Eric Glover good question.. I hope he answers this. This is something I would like to know too

Yes you can definitely code with that or manage
