  • Season 3 of Callaway Tour Tips concludes as two of the best pupils in the game Alex Noren and Matt Wallace take us on a ball striking journey.
Touching on their tempo, club position and where they actually hit on the ball, these two ball striking machines show us how it’s really done.
As always, the session finished with a challenge, and this week it was a nearest the pin with a two-iron.

Matt Wallace will be a commentator or coach one day. Great explanation

The most important thing to note for me there is Wallace's first shot. Hits it 50% but gets at least 75% of the way there. As an athletic amateur I definitely try and hit the ball too hard chasing that tour level speed but I really need to focus on strike instead

Matt Wallace: I want to over exaggerate all those movements
Alex Noren: Buddy, let me show you

Alex Noren's drill is one of the very best 👍 Both great ball strikers and an excellent
video to bookmark for future reference.

Awesome! Forward shaft lean and more compression for clean ball striking and more ball speed

As a relative newbie to golf just understanding what the lofts do is so useful to know from the start. I played a few rounds recently quite literally trying to crunch down on the ball, not even aiming massively at a really specific target, and the results were so much better than before when I was hitting it what I perceived to be the right line but strike was awful so it was going wayward 🤷‍♂️. Shot +10 I the end which is good for me!!

Which course were they at? Wentworth? Nice ball striking. Wallace has such a smooth swing. 2 very different swings but both 👌🏻

What I learned from this is that even the pros probably should be hitting 5 wood

    5:53 Wallace hitting a 3 iron on a 2 iron challenge 😂

If you look closely at 5:08 when he one hands it, it looks like it might be a Mavrik Pro model, which in a 3-iron is 19*. Pretty close to many tour player's 2-irons.

The number stamped doesn't even matter these days. That 3 iron could be stronger lofted than an old-school 2 iron.

This is why hybrids and 5 woods are a thing 😂 2 irons are 1 irons are great to practise with, but clearly extremely difficult to hit consistently even for tour pros

If I tried to be as open as Noren at impact, my left hip would explode.

Alex Noren no divot with the 2 iron. What is this blasphemy?!?!?!?! I did notice that he is not as steep as he used to be though.

Sorry fellas, but I think Jack would have beaten you both on the 2 iron challenge
