Steve was the lead singer who put Journey on top of the world in the late Seventies through the mid Eighties. Prior to Steve joining Journey, they were a jazz/fusion/progressive band and played completely different music, that was just as good in its own right. After Steve left, Neal and the members who were the decision makers simply hired Perry clones to sing the hits at live shows. Yes, they recorded albums with Steve Augeri and with their current singer Arnel Pineda, but none of them garnered the singing/songwriting talents of Journey from 1979 thru 1986.
Cannot go wrong with any Journey but with Steve Perry only..other dude singing for the new Journey just pisses me off! Without Steve Journey don’t exist! This man can sing anything great reaction!!!!
Steve believed that the music should be able to stand on its on merits and not have to rely on flashiness. His voice was so magical that powerful that it mde excess unnessary. He was lead singer for the band Journey until surgery and burn-out destroyed his joy for music. He's making a comeback at age 75/
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 May I suggest another great song by Journey ( Steve Perry) 1#🎵 Lights 🎵 2# 🎵 Loving Touching Squeezing 🎵 You gonna love those masterpiece too Keep the good work my friend ✌️ 👍🏻 👏👌
I'm hoping someone gave you the 411 that Steve Perry was lead singer for Journey... and have to say this is a good but his voice shined so much more to me on some of the Journey songs... Open Arms, Faithfully, Lights, so many can't even name.
Steve Perry was born on the same day as his idol, the late Sam Cooke. SP was with Journey, which is also from my hometown San Francisco 🌉. I grew up listening to Steve Perry in Journey. Foolish Heart. Written by Steve Perry and Randy Goodrum. Great song 👍. Great cover: Morissette Amon. True story. RG thought that he was going to write ✍ with a member of Aerosmith. But his daughter got her poster of Journey and pointed to Steve Perry! 🙄 RG confused him with Joe Perry, the lead guitarist of Aerosmith! L 🤣 L Source: Randy Goodrum sings Foolish Heart. A YT video. RG wrote a hit for Anne Murray in 1978 (45 years ago cake 🎂). Fast forward to 1984. Foolish Heart is another hit, 6 years later. Same year, RG wrote a big hit for Debarge. Suggested songs 🎵: 1 Anne Murray sings You Needed Me 2 Debarge sings Who's Holding Donna Now 3 Steve Perry and David Foster perform I Stand Alone.

As far as I know, Sam Cooke was the FIRST singer to garner the nickname "The Voice"... and SO well deserved.
He was Steve’s idol. You can hear it.
