Too funny! I swear a gnat tried to bug me yesterday out here in San Diego, and I was about to call it quits! LOL! I remember the humidity coupled with gnats in GA, and we hated it. We don't really get gnats out here, thank God it was something else! Anyway, lovely fig! TFS!
Violet Sepor is another one I’ve heard might be a synonym for this variety, as well as Bourjasotte Grise. Anyone have an opinion on whether this is the same as Violet Sepor or not? I’m thinking I would like to have one of those three, but not sure which to go for or whether it matters or not. I’m in Southern California high desert zone 8b, so maybe I should try for BG since Harvey is in a fairly similar climate and seems to especially like that one. I don’t think my area has the fig wasp, unfortunately.
If you plant an actual caprifig in your area you will eventually get a colony of fig wasps. You've got to have a caprifig because they don't fly very far at all.
I am watching. I'm always watching. lol In my growing conditions, they are almost exactly the same. You could not tell the difference from look or taste in either the fig or the leaves and it sounds like there are several others that experience this. That said, I am here to learn and I have definitely seen that climate can make a dramatic difference on the figs so I asked Harvey and he said that he also does not think they are the same and exhibit more of a difference in his climate. All I know for sure is that both are excellent varieties! :-) Nice video and I appreciate the insight. These figs are crazy things.
@@RossRaddi He said "I've been growing both of these since at least 2013 and I think they are definitely different. Socorro Black has never made breba for us during that time. The color of the fruit are different here and pulp is slightly different." My Socorro Black, that traces back to him, had breba this year so that one is busted as being a differentiating factor. In fact, my SB had more breba than my BG of the same age. Crazy figs!!! lol
It’s NM, I found it. I shared it with Harvey and others to make sure it wasn’t lost to time.
There is also a Los Lunas fig.

That looks very delicious Ross. Thanks for sharing!
Cool, can't wait to try mine....Rio Rancho NM

I live 30 minutes from Soccoro NM and I have never heard of it. I am going to have to try and find this variety.
Did you ever find it? I’m in Santa fe
@@vtec18c no, never did...

Why are some trees wrapped in black plastic?
Green fig falls off at 0:35.
How likely is to get fruits from first year graft?
Maşallah 🐔👍👍🇹🇷🇹🇷
Hey Ross you have one of those trees for sell?
NO trees, Carlos. Only cuttings this December.
