How did you call a taxi from there? Did you have Cuban SIM card? If hop-on hop off bus, how do you know when/where to go to catch it?

You ask the lobby staff to call for you. No, never tried Cuban SIM. The bus comes around to your hotel. The hotel lobby staff would be able to tell when the next bus will come.
