I usually go ominous premonition (as its good against adcs as well). If the enemy have a lot of magic damage (magic jungler & midlane), then succubus cloak. If they have just 1 magic dps, then I go longnight. Your last item can be blood rage or another physical / magical defense item dependent on the enemy comp or how ahead they are.
I have one that you can use. But of course you get to trade off some damage but if you know what you are doing it wouldn't matter as long as you position properly during teamfights

So if you meet tanky picks you can use it to gain more durability as long as you maintain your distance and poke with your passive's extra damage and piercing effect. If you face magic lineups you can adjust accordingly with the physical attack item that gives added magic defence(Spellbane Blade, it's gold in colour) and if not enough you can get the usual magic def item(succubus cloak or guardian of eternal, whichever works better for you) So for the build, Boots- Boots of Fortitude The second item is the core item for physical heroes or fighters. The axe one that's purple Next, Frostscar. The one that grants your ba a slow effect after every skill cast. It gives cd too and li xin can effectively abuse its effect especially against tanky heroes who lack mobility for your adc or mages to easily dish damage during teamfights Third item? Star breaker. This build would be incomplete without the penetration item to burst down those annoying tanks. So you need star breaker for sure After that, you can get spikemail(it gives extra physical defence, some attack stats and also deflects physical damage received) And then add Pure sky(gives extra physical attack, slow from skills, and it's normal damage reduction both from its passive and also it's active skill. If you want you can replace the boots later on for the resurrection item whenever necessary or simply sell whichever item you feel is less needed
