I stopped watching Edwin's videos when I realized he never actually said anything. he can cover genuinely interesting topics and make them incomprehensible and boring, somehow

FUCKING REFRESHING to see someone finally call out all of Edwin's bullshit. I used to be a fan of his, been slowly getting weird feelings abt his content for a while now but seeing how he handled the Mamamax situation is what really made me pull away, stop viewing him in a good light. he just would not let Mamamax finish and had to give his two cents every five seconds, it seemed. got to the point where I was pulling a Bowblax "LET HIM SPEEEAAAK!!!!!" but no seriously, Homeboy's brain must be absolutely RIPPED by the mental gymnastics he was doing to try to make everything fit his narrative all while DeOrio was being more level-headed. I feel like the only times I tune into Edwin's livestreams now, I'm just gonna catch him twisting someone's words or being hypocritical in some way.

I stopped watching him a few weeks ago when he had Gabbie Hanna on, and he started blocking people from the comment on live for stating their opinions. He’s very hypocritical one moment he was talking very disrespectful about her as soon as she came on the live, his whole narrative change, and he had his mods blocked people... I don’t even know why anybody watches him to begin with. He’s very ignorant but, he’s attractive so people think that he’s correct. I’ll call this pretty boy privilege... basically the same thing that John Swan had.
I appreciate you making this video. As a person who watched Edwin platform my abusers trying to cancel me for the very things they did to me even after they've been caught lying publicly over the course of years, dox me and my family multiple times, share nudes of me to his discord server, and Edwin egging me on to talk about my ex's after I said I didn't want to cause them any more harassment - this video is very cathartic. I found out about this guy during the Mars Argo case and was honestly grossed out by him interviewing her abusers brother and messaging her abuser. The whole angle of his video was essentially “maybe she’s not as much of a victim as she says she is” disguised as “Im just getting other opinions”. So honestly all this checks out.

She thought if she put out the disclaimer that she's friends with her that would actively absolve anything. There's no way one can be TRULY neutral on both sides if you are friends with one party (and she tried so hard to convince us otherwise). A lot of comments called her out on that and she deleted/privated the video. Never cared to see if she put the video back up or what. Even before that I did notice some biases she had in her videos and off putting comments that I stupidly turned a blind eye to. The worst thing he said or did imo was when he was talking to Shiloh (Onision’s first victim) and Shiloh got triggered and was talking abt her trauma and telling Edwin to leave her the fuck alone so Edwin screenshot the whole conversation he had with her and called her out and said she was “emotionally blackmailing him”. When you pick at someone else’s trauma knowing they have PTSD and you activate their trauma response you’re accountable for that. He knew she had PTSD so idk what he expected and idk why he couldn’t leave that poor traumatized woman alone!

You can't control what people do or say to you, you can't always control how it makes you feel, but you have complete control over how you treat others in reaction to those feelings.
I think Shlioh shouldn't have been on the internet during that time, and after sharing her experience should have detached from the socials and kept healing. I still do feel bad for her, she deserved none of what Onision did to her, but there were no excuses for her actions or words when she made her comeback. Mental illness isn't an excuse to treat people poorly, a lot of us have to learn that the hard way. I'm not sure who said it, but there's a saying that goes something like "If you don't heal your wounds, you'll bleed onto people that didn't cut you."

I used to watch edwin all the time until I realized how low his self-esteem is and how it affects his interactions with others. he can never take criticism and always responds so defensively and passive-aggressively. it was irritating when people were not even hating on him, they were making valid comments that he refused to recognize
He was super disingenuous about Onision as well. I don't like Onision as much as the next person but when Onision said that Edwin would make money from the doc Edwin acted like because he didn't get directly paid that he wouldn't benefit at all. Gimme a break
The Technicals debate was a poor showing from Edwin and Jaclyn's criticism wasn't overly harsh.
Jaclyn was critical, thoughtful and kind. Edwin was a man child crying because mama corrected his dumbass antics.
The fact that Edwin went into the Discovery+ Documentary about Onision just because he was pissed at Shiloh for basically reacting to him like a triggered victim was the last straw for me. He vilified Shiloh big time, and as much as she’d said some things that were not cool, him going on that show felt vindictive in a really shifty way.

I suspect that he agreed to be in the documentary so that he could make money and get revenge on Shiloh.

This may be seen as controversial but these guys WILL go after an 18 or 19 year old who dated a 17 year old trying to throw the book at them calling them pedophiles and all the other words. interesting thing just happened. I went to watch his reaction to this critique the other day bc someone mentioned it in these comments, and noticed that he was proving this whole point. i made a comment expressing that and how i used to be a big fan before i noticed that he acts this way. he wrote a whole comment back coming off respectful i guess and so i responded respectfully and just reiterated how i felt. I just got home and since I was watching this stuff his live came up on my recommended and I clicked out of curiosity and he was literally reading my comment on his stream and complaining about it. he acknowledged I wasn’t a hater when speaking to me in the comments meanwhile on his stream he referred to me as a hater and said the problem is people leave these comments and never come on stream to talk to him. interesting to me that he’d view these perspectives as less valid just because someone isn’t interested in having their voice on a public forum. i’m not an influencer by any means so I think it’s pretty fair for me not to want to participate in a livestream

piggybacking off of Tommy C having Mr. Girl on, it's actually become a thing that a lot of streamers(like Destiny and Stardust) are having him on and talking casually with him. Mr' Girl's gained popularity from this and it's actually disgusting. He got mad one time because he was speaking out against belle delphine while his gf at the time was following and mutuals with her. I pointed out how hyprocritical it was that he would way anyone who followed dasha was a traitor yet his girlfriend can follow "problematic" creators. Any good he did in relaying info was the work of the victim who did an incredible job advocating for herself. Not long after he made a series trying to disprove some historical allegations that cannot in any way be disproven. You don't get to have it both ways, you can't be an advocate and fake claim something that cannot be disproven. That's when I unsubbed. It's been so weird to see him keep f'ing up over and over again over the years.
*Tommy C spin off comic as a bonus:* Oof let me preface this with my ~qualifications~ but I someone who was a watcher and twitter audience member during the OG Baited podcast era of the commentary community, and I was a daily SFTP viewer. I remember when Nick was just some weird kid who used to call in to Tommy's stream, same with many of the others (Turky Tom, Wavy, etc). Tommy is held in high regard for that reason, bc so many of the current year commentates consider him their drunken libertarian dad who stinks of pışş, but threw a ball round in the alley with them one time. Big weird to see them on the come up over the years too.
I recently tried to watch a SFTP ep and Tommy was just drunk and slurring about being the grandson of an Irish person and tįtş while his cohost slid gradually along the ole uncomfortable-to-frustrated scale and tried to redirect the conversation to the topic at hand. It was genuinely really sad in a plethora of ways. By the same token it must be hard to have peaked in your life at 40 during the 2016 commentary community season of the internet. And not even as anything good like a main character or an antagonist, but as like a foley artist. Seriously tragic his story is.

If selective illiteracy is a thing then Edwin has it. He doesn't know how to do research, connect the dots, tie his shoes. It became apparent when he made the video on the media's speculations against Marilyn Manson. He just swallowed it whole and ran with it, didn't question anything or made any research. This put into questioning his other videos on Die Antwoord, Poppy etc. Yeah, homeboy got receipts, but he doesn't know how to read and gets the info using a text-to-speech app tailored only for Chinese mandarin and cantonese.

Never really watched Edwin and haven’t seen any of his videos in the last years. But I just watched a stream of his reacting to the Jessie Smiles podcast. He felt attacked or whatever because she used the term „commentary bros“. Then he gave Keemstar a platform to again claim Jessie made up her trauma.
Lost all respect for him since then. He claims being all about helping victims, but then doesn’t behave accordingly at all.

Can’t stand Edwin. He actively ruins content. A great example is flamencos drama, he kept trying to stop them from arguing, kept trying to calm the situation down and played nice with flamenco the whole time. It got to the point that bowblax had to tell him to shut up and to stop ruining the fun. He’s a drama youtuber that acts like he’s above drama. Can’t stand that.
Meanwhile now, he’s making fun of flamenco and acting like he was only buddy buddy because he was on augies show. So he’s fake, and sucks up to everyone and anyone to get ahead when so far he has yet to add any good stories and in any streams I see him in he makes it worse.
Another good example is when he starts virtue signaling and doing guilt by association to flamenco on how it’s wrong to have mods that are transphobic and to control his chat and then one other guy says it comes off disingenuous when you have no problem that you’re chat (Edwin’s) is telling flamenco to jump or kill himself. Edwin does the usual oh we can read between the lines you just hate trans people even though the guy was making a point that this is all hypocritical. Meanwhile everyone’s on a dogpile on flamenco and Edwin keeps bringing up the one guy trying to keep the conversation interesting as just being a dick rider, meanwhile all he does is dick ride Augie and nick.

I watched Edwin's latest stream earlier where he interviewed MamaMax's ex Olivia. Let's just say, that's 2-3 hours of my life I'll never get back (why TF did I waste all that time watching that crap?)... Also Keemstar showed up, that was certainly an unexpected surprise to say the least.
That is Edwin and Olivia for you. All they do is waste your time like Max didn't respond to any of her shit because not only was it all lies, but her story is just vapid buzzwords and accusations with zero proof. hell the phone call still doesn't make Max look bad it makes Olivia look aggressive and crazy

Glad to see more people are catching on to Edwin's hypocrisy and general poor behavior.
I only rarely watch his takes anymore if he's covering something I'm interested in, but ever since the Die Antwoord story he just comes off as an alarmist and sensationalist (a pattern that can be seen here and in every one of the stories he covers).. That was a horrible enough story on it's own, but he kept pushing the trafficking and r*pe narrative to the point of really muddying the actual facts, especially when his narrative wasn't even the real issues of the story (and were taken directly from the victim's lyrics, which were an artistic interpretation of their feelings about the events not representative of the actual events as they happened), the situation was so much more complex but less interesting (eg the story floated was a minor human trafficked for a satanic ritual, in reality she was a fan groomed and taken advantage of by a man in power, but that isn't as sensational and has a lot more gray areas).. At the time I was already feeling iffy because of the Onision "case" where he did the same thing (along with 2/3 of the internet), intentionally misrepresenting evidence or removing context is not just biased (something he admits to being), its actually just untruthful. There was enough evidence of actual abuse that dramatizing events to make them look worse or villify Onision even more is unnecessary and super manipulative (a perfect example would be the Shiloh 'candy corn' sketch that Edwin and every other commentary channel tried to reframe as literal abuse caught on camera and not the scripted sketch that it was, intentionally made to parody the abuse allegations and mock concerned fans. But that didn't fit the narrative so it was censored/edited and presented as leaked behind the scenes footage).. And then there was Amber v Channon Rose situation, which everyone warned him both Amber and Channon are actual bad people neither is a victim and Amber will only manipulate him.. Well he ignored everyone and got played by Amber and made an hour long video defending her. He did the same thing with the Onision documentary, he chose a pay day and arrogantly told off anyone who warned him that they were just wrong and he was definitely right, just to got played by Discovery. Then he turned around and attacked Jaclyn Glen in the pettiest ways when she gently tried to point out how ignorant he was being.. All of this soured my opinion on him as a creator and affirmed my suspicions that he doesn't actually care about what he's talking about, just in it for views and clout. He is way more concerned with evoking emotions from his audience and selling a dramatized narrative than presenting actual facts or holding people in positions of power accountable, and I can't take any of that seriously.

Coming from the RFC side of the community I genuinely hate whenever Edwin slide into the show, causing the quality to drop by 100% because Edwin will slow the conversation down or even straight up derail the conversation by saying something so stupid Augie needs to pause to focus on it.
I don't know if that was mentioned in the video (commenting before watching), but my biggest red flag about him is promising a lot of content, opening up his channel to let all the victims from Die Antwoord speak and not even following up on that. He promised to interview Zheani and Tokkie and it never happened. He claims he is some sort of hero for calling DA out on their behavior but he can't keep his fucking word.
I liked Edwin's coverage of the Die Antwoord situation but shortly after that ended he started to hang out with Nicholas Deorio, who is a slimeball, and I stopped watching. His livestreams became glorified sucking each other off on whatever points they made with or without evidence. I've always said this after the Creepshow Art debacle, drama channels are like the Sith, they are going to continue to turn on each other and eat each other up until there is nobody left. The Right Opinion is in the best position with reporting facts on drama without inserting himself into it, the perfect model.
He basically used the Shiloh drama to make himself appear as a victim of hers & cancel her, then started to hang out with DeOrio & that group. Like, Nick didn't deserve the response Shiloh gave him to him trying to make Sarah out to be an e-beggar, but it's understandable why she did it, as she was in "mama bear" mode. The fact that she could've apologize for going too far, though, is what caused her downfall. I won't lie, though, as someone who spoke to her in DMs at the time, she was definitely manipulative to me.
As for Edwin, though, he poked the bear too hard & she exploded at him in DMs. Like, I have to wonder if he really didn't expect that to happen, or if he wanted something like that to happen so he could victimize himself & play moral superior over her. That whole situation was a goddamn mess & I regret my part in it...
I think you outlined my greater issue with commentary here. I find you have to take each individual video and calculate if you can even trust it, and than if its even right. And that my "liking" of a person is typically only measured in a few months before they do something that shatters any sort of reliability.
"The girl didn't feel any resentment, [he] didn't go to jail" is literally the same argument Edwin made as to why Karim Abridged telling a 14-year-old girl in DMs that her boobs were 20/10 wasn't bad. If you think I'm kidding, go to Edwin's second of 4 videos relating to Karim. It's fucking stupid.
I was a long fan of Edwin and I still was up until a few hours ago, mostly cause of his Mars Argo coverage when no one else was discussing it at the time. But watching this video and going back through some of his livestreams and things, I am starting to open my eyes a bit more. This makes a lot of sense and is really well put together.
i came across him during the creepshow art situation. while it was obvious to everyone that most of the evidence was against her i found his videos on her to be a lot dogpiley in the sense that his only contributions in discord calls with other commentators were just overreactions, not a good impression... then i saw his other videos and thought that the way he was handling commentating was a bit too unprofessional because of how it's mostly hinged on his reactions and not solid insight on the situation.
