How many civilians are we allowed to watch die? It is a defenseless people getting pummeled from the air by one of the most sophisticated and powerful militaries on this planet. And the response of the western world at this time is what? Israel has a right to defend itself. Well what exactly does that mean? That they can cut off food? That they can cut off the power? That they can cut off water?

If one has been paying attention closely to Peterson's lectures and interviews it becomes clear that he has a "White man's burden" mindset. That means that he sees the world through the lens of only the past 300 years wherein Europeans came to dominate (and "civilize") the world. This causes him to view Israel as a European state that is under threat from the "uncivilized" Arabs. It is the same reason that many Americans and Europeans are so sympathetic to that apartheid state.

I so agree with what you’re saying. I used to respect and support JP so much. I never understood the hate some people had for him, as I always thought that he spoke with reason and logic. Most of what he talks about is our shadow side/nafs, and how we are prone to deluding ourselves and not even realize it. Anyway, hearing of his blatant ignorance of the deeper aspects of this matter makes me so sad; it’s like hearing that your hero supports the Nazis. A well-known thought leader such as himself cannot make callous comments such as that when he knows that his one simple comment can surely inflame an already emotionally charged matter. Being an educated and intelligent man, and having knowledge of both history and world history, for him to be so biased in his views is extremely disheartening. I cannot support such a man anymore.
I am continuing to learn more and more about both perspectives on this region. My biggest question at the moment is this: what do the Palestinian people truly want? Is it simply co-existence and a right to be independent, or is it to control the land? They were given a country and declared wars.
I understand they saw the offer of a country as colonialism. But If Palestinians take over the entire land, what happens to the Israelis? What happens to the Jews? They go back to their own diaspora again (which is the reason Israel exists now). I just don’t see either side offering a real solution for peace that doesn’t involve hurting the other.
I think that is why we are seeing these extreme reactions from Israel and Hamas. Neither is trying to help. If anyone has an answer from the Palestinian perspective, I would be interested to know.
It's pretty clear. They want the Jews gone, and even exterminated, and that includes the nation. It's right there in the Hamas charter, and majority of Palestinians support Hamas and elected them. Muslims in general are anti-jewish to the extent even Hitler and the Nazi's found them favorable, and even became bedfellows in some circumstances.
Palestine has been independent for almost 20 years now, so it's clear that "co-existence and a right to be independent" isn't their intention.
Palestinians are not to bear the sins of the European genocide of Jewish people.
The goals of Palestinian resistance are very clear:
1. Freedom of Palestinians - self determination, right to self defense, equality, right to return,
If Israelis were ready to live in a nation where Palestinians have equal rights, instead of systematically stealing their land, killing their children, and implementing the most inhumane barbaric Apartheid regime against them then I don't think there would have been a conflict in the first place.
As for the settler colonialists from the US and Europe, most of them are dual citizens who came to Palestine because of the allure of stealing Palestinian land- so by definition they are thieves. Murder, rape and torture are their tools for that theft. They can go back to the lands they came from, who will support them anyway.

I saw a video about what happens in the city of Hebron. Their homes became their prison. I’m a romanian christian, for me Israel is a holy place. But thats about it. What the israeli army is doing there is disgusting. No wonder this things lead to big conflicts.
