Aaron Donald is transcendent. It's one thing to have his strength, acceleration, and agility but he takes it all to the next level with his mastery of block shedding techniques.
Damn, that play at 6:56 … the strength to do that is staggering. Reminds me of LT tackling RBs and QBs with one arm while dominating his blocker with the other.
Aaron Donald also has a great sense for the moment. He always comes through big in the clutch and he is the ultimate defensive closer. Besides just letting other guys around him be in position to make plays themselves, Donald elevates all their games. Everyone has improved by playing with him. If this were like hockey and you could only have one guy wearing the C, it's Aaron Donald. Everyone else is wearing an A patch.
The insane value is that Donald helps simplify the game for the impact he provides on defense. Dude is mad strong/quick and if the O-line can't push him back, he just crumbles the protection and forces the QB to move laterally where the protection is held up. Which then sets up the edges to get at him clean. If the QB still manages to scramble and buy time, Donald is usually still around to pursue and clean up. Good angles and good timing overall.
@@_SC00T I don't watch him weekly but I've seen enough to know what I said, good and bad. I'm not saying he can't stop the run but they only ask him to in clear run situations and because of that his numbers are inflated AND they give up big runs. Smart teams will let him through one gap and run right through another. Like I said best interior pass rusher in the NFL so I don't blame them, but still he's 31 and has been talked about as the greatest defensive player of all time after this super bowl. So yeah - overrated.
That’s crazy, i was actually thinking about that last play mentioned on 3rd and 1 and how ridiculously strong AD is. Dragging that half back away from the line is just some grown ass man shit. Can’t think of any other DT playing today that makes that play when it matters most.
His foot work is the key and its why he works SO hard on it. Its one of the reasons he's never really injured. Most NFL players are lazy and their value falls off a cliff as they party and brag their way into irrelevance. Donald is a pitch perfect example of how HARD WORK triumphs over limitations. The Rams are loaded with such guys, guys that were undervalued but worked harder than everyone. In many ways, the end of the Super Bowl was thanks to the two guys that put in all the EXTRA TIME to be better than anyone, Kupp and Donald. Talk is best backed up with PERFORMANCE. If you're actually "great", you wont have to brag about yourself.
ive never seen a player end a game so many times. i feel like what he did on that 4th and one happebed like 4 or 5 times throughout the season. it was nuts
It takes ALOT out of an offense when you have to game plan so much on trying to stop Donald. Instead of practicing the offense you want, you spend SO MUCH TIME on just planning to stop Donald, that your offense almost gets sidetracked in doing that instead of working on how to score. He almost puts your offense in 'prevent' mode. As an offense, you're happy just to neutralize him, and that takes away from your ability to score. It takes THAT MUCH ATTENTION to stop him.
The KEY to AD is that he has basketball footwork but he's 285 and strong as an OX! He actually uses a LOT of basketball moves to set up his opponent! The stutter step and even a cross over! He does it effortlessly! There have never been a man that big inthe MIDDLE of the line that was that nimble!
It's actually never about stats with Donald that makes him the defensive player of the year every years, it's his COMPLETE impact on the game! He gets all of those guys paid which, is why they don't play as well when they leave the Rams! Plus he STILL has crazy stats for a D Tackle. I laugh at Warren Sapp saying he doesn't Ike AD'S run defense yet, Donald leads the league in tackles for loss EVERY YEAR! He LIVES in the backfield and blows up EVERYTHING!
0:58 "The left guard Quentin Spain was pretty good last year." What are you basing this on? Spain had a 56 pass block grade, per pff. That's good enough for 53rd/64 among guards, that's not "pretty good", or even "average", it's bad!!
Too bad we didn't get to see the Chiefs against that Rams defense could they of stopped mahommes? Bengals were so lucky the Titans choked after sacking burrow 8 time's and mahommes choked in the second half I think the Rams would of had trouble stopping mahommes because style's makes fights

And it's not just all that, it's also his insane work ethic and determination to be the best and Win!!!

Burrows is watching, then has the "gat damnit-I knew it" shrug before calling time out
I love his stuff. We all know he's good but I love how you show examples of how he provides value.

Best player in the NFL and I dont think its close
Best interior pass rusher but overrated. Rams have given up a lot of big run plays because they let Donald shoot the gap repeatedly.

@@seanoconnor5761 anyone who says “Aaron Donald is overrated” doesnt watch enough of Aaron Donald.

Thanks for your videos. I’m trying to learn more about the finer points of football and you are quite helpful.

The Lion's should have drafted him instead of Eric Ebron I was pissed.
The Rams almost whiffed on Donald also. Donald was pick at 13. At #2, rams chose Greg Robinson who became........a bust.
Imagine if Rams would of took Mack and Donald that draft class instead of Robinson
Love the passion brother!

From the all 22 footage. The ball is a lot further away from perine. Than the regular telecast angle.

He has the best hands ever.
He also has a high football IQ, due to his excellent film study habits.
Can you do LB film plz
I've paid more attention to Rams games to watch Aaron

I actually was thinking the same, as a rams fan I wanted the bengals to pull through because I knew we were a better match for them then the chiefs
Great video. Casuals only look at his sacks
Followed you on Twitter., can I get a fb 😃

That play and coops first down were 2 very major important plays in the game. Go Rams
It's not just that. If I need a 3rd and 1 with the Super Bowl on the line I'm not going to try to get it against Aaron Donald. That's on Zac.
@@jfields03 agreed.
