Only in this hipster generation is being a fullback important. I cannot stand attacking fullbacks. Just get me PROPER wingers and not these failed strikers and we wouldn’t need these inverted wastemans
Fullback indeed are very important but id rather go with goalkeeper. Even in argentina's 2022 wc campaign the fullbacks were good but not world class. This position has always consitantly been very important and if you look at like last 20 years of ucl winners every team had a good gk. I think every other position will keep fluctuating in terms of importance as the tactics keep evolving but keeper's position will always remain important
You've never played football if you think fullback is the most important position in football. You definitely don't understand football if you think this lol. Classic social media where idiots think they are being clever. Look at football today. Every big club is desperate for centre backs or centre mids. But there's barely any to buy, clubs are struggling. Full backs is very easy to replace. People bang on about Trent. But facts are Liverpool results are always based on how Van Dijk plays. If Van Dijk is shit Liverpool lose. Trent plays bad regularly and it doesn't effect the results. When Trent was injured Bradley replaced him with ease. Bradley shows Trent doesn't do what people think.
I see from where you are coming from. But when you look every team who won ucl, You can see these have a very good cb pairing. The complementarity between these two is eveident in all these teams. Ball playing varahne and agressive ramos, Creative pique alonside a destroyer like puyol, Technical pique and destroyer mascherano are very much of those examples!
Dani Alves is the greatest fullback ever and not Marcelo. He is the player who has won the most trophies ever behind Messi lol and he could defend and attack. Marcelo was shit at defending and he was always known for his attacking contribution for madrid. Yes Dani Alves is a bad human outside football but that has got nothing to do with what he did in the sport
Marcelo shouts as the best fullback of all time is blasphemy. Dani Alves, Lahm, Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Zanetti all easily ahead of him. As great as a Marcelo was, far to much of a defensive liability and not even to mention what a failure his international career was. Filipe Luis was getting picked ahead of him far too often.
@@Mavolovolo-zc4lm If Dani Alves was a defensive liability, then I dont know what that makes Marcelo, cause they aint even comparable defensively and offensively. Literally no one ever says Alves was a defensive liability, but I guess its a tough conversation for some Marcelo stans. Marcelo easily one of the most overrated full backs. People overlook his flaws just cause he was an elite dribbler for a fullback.
Marcelo 😭😭 who was finished at 29 Dani Alves is the king of full back what he did outside of football has nothing to do when u talk about. On the pitch get politics out of football
Disagree. Even the most valuable aspect of a full back is incorrect. Carvajal didn't make a difference because of his attacking. It was the defensive side of the game he brought that made the difference. Arbeloa before him is known as the cone for a reason. And Marcelo wasn't used much in la decima. Coentrao was preferred in the knockout rounds because he defended better. Defence will always be the most important aspect of a team. Always. Depending on the system being played and what the opponent's strengths are, the most important position is generally going to be the central midfield role - specifically the defensive aspect. It's no coincidence that Real Madrid did nothing in Europe after selling Makalele. Keep Makalele and we're talking 15 or 16 champions leagues won. Look at Guardiola's Barsa - most people talk about what they did with the ball, but it was what they did without it that was why they were virtually unbeatable. The great Milan teams, in fact the great Italian teams - all relied on solid defence.
Also to add if we look at ucl runner ups who lost final they didn’t have dms better than other 2023 - Brozovic 2022 - Henderson 2021 - Didn’t Play one 2020 - N/A 2019 - Wanyama

Lucas hernandez is not a full back. He is a center back. Read his player profile. He can play in the full back position but he isn’t one.
