I disagree with the downturn; turnout at our events is higher than ever. I'd say it's a combination of more sellers [more supply; drives down prices] and Numemon. Why buy £20 cards when you just play Nume? Why buy new sets when you just play Nume?
PPG is actually my least favorite place to order from mainly because they like to overcharge. Also calling people who are your potential viewers and subscribers dumb and stupid is messed up
Nah it's not messed up when it is deserved. If you buy pre-sale SRs for that inflated price, then you are indeed stupid. He's doing them a favor by letting them know that fact.
While I agree it’s not my favorite thing to see folks get hosed buying presales, I think it’s on brand for Mario to call those buying presales dumb, subscriber or not
I agree, though I don’t buy pre-sales. I did however buy a book series for $30 more because I liked the covers better. Random, but when did paperback become more expensive than hardcover?!
I can't really comment on whether or not digimon is dying because I have no clue whether it is or isn't, but I DO know that I no longer enjoy playing competitive digimon. Cards like valkyrimon Ace have eliminated any urge I have to play the game. I strongly dislike these boardwipe effects being played now. At least ruin mode had a real cost, but valkyrimon Ace feels free everytime its used. That card not only wipes boards but prevents players from rebuilding. As long as bandai takes the game in this, "wipe the board and stop your opponent from playing"style of play, I have NO urge to play competitively. At least when my friends and I play, we can choose not to use the cards. I do not expect other players to play a less than optimized deck in a competitive tourney so the game is more fun, but the board wipes really kill the game for me.
Out of curiosity, is Overflow for Aces like this not enough of a price? I'm always curious as to why people do or don't like certain card designs. I see what you mean by that. You have to play around Valkyrimon Ace in your example a certain way. Certain boss monsters definitely encourage destroy it or have trouble with your gameplan like Quartzmon.
@VirtualVictrola Most of the aces feel very balanced to me. Surprisingly balanced, in fact. Valkyrimon Ace seems to be the exception to the rule, though. The card is a mini ruin mode. If my opponent blast digivolves into it and wipes my board, I can't rebuild because my lvl 3 digimon will immediately be removed upon entering the field. Hard playing anything past lvl4 is giving too much memory to the opponent and allows them to just do the whole thing again. What hurts the most is having my opponent blast into valkyrimon ace, then on their turn digivolve into ruin mode. This stops me from playing the game for three entire turns, which is almost impossible to recover from. I understand the need for board wipe cards like deathx and ruin mode, but they have to cost SOMETHING. The overflow of four memory is nothing if your opponent can't do anything with it because there is a boardwide -5k dp effect for the rest of the turn.
@@shelbyramin1376 Oh great reply! I haven't gotten a good chance to interact with it that way. Thank you. Yeah. It seems like anything that spans both players' turns is definitely rough.
I think the market is just stabilizing. I know bt-15 had bad pull rates but cards like gato and tentomon never should had reached around $20 for there low rarity. And since cards were inflated new salers came in to capitalize.
Digimon has always had low prices for singles. I don’t think I saw a single SR in a set after 1.5 release be over $10 until Mirei came out in BT11, followed by Shine and Quartz in BT12. Not counting presales of course. Considering we have multiple SRs in a set being around $10 or more and the SEC don’t seem to be useless $10 trash anymore, I think the game is in a good place with the exception of events. We really need a few in person events every month.
Valerie idk ex 6 will probably have it go up again. WITH paildramon my guess would be a week maybe 2 after ex 6 drops. People will focus on the new stuff for a bit and you want to get ahead of the bt 17 hype.
@@DoubleHelixReviews That makes sense and thanks for the input I also have been a Imperialdramon player since the starter game came out that got me into the game but the price for Paildramon kind of had me shocked
@@kaisuzugamori4173 I'm the same way play imperialdramon every time I go to locals since the starter deck. I wouldn't rush getting it as long as you get it before bt-17. The partition effect sounds crazy but most decks can either get bigger or can make you smaller so I only get the effect off once a week and that's going to two locals. And besides the paildramons it's a super budget deck.
I mean like other people here in the coments I disagree with the downturn, people keep coming over here at my locals to try and get into the game and I have seen guys buying boxes of the newer set making their money back selling their Magna's and Rapidmon's X; And players including me keep coming to store tournaments to win and have some fun. On newer singles going down well it all depends, for example the Pulsemon stuff isn't going to go anywhere in the competitive landscape and Dorugora has some hype but it's not in a shoortage like the Gammamon stuff in RB Again rember to consider hype, popularity, meta relevance, shoortage of supply, etc Maybe it's me, but I do not see that drop but what my spider senses are tingling at is we might get another case of fatege where people can't keep it up with the releases of set's after set's, specialy when Bt20 releases in the future
I use to play the game and I wanna get back into it but I feel like certain cards are just to expensive or maybe I need to get 4 copies of one card and maybe it’s just 15 dollars a copy but it adds up and i just wanna play the game casually but I also don’t wanna pay a lot of money if I wanna play a certain deck
I wanna say Digimon is going through a shift rather than going to a down turn. There is a lot of changes between the lead devs and how distribution is being handled. I want to say it will smooth out after the English and Jp releases are uniform. Could be wrong though.
I don't think the game is dying. Otherwise Bandai wouldn't be printing more sets or setting Digimon up for Global release. I can definitely see a perception of the game "dying" causing cards to fall in price. But I imagine that cards will go back up in time.
Gah these new shops blasting product and undercutting by a large margin. Majority of them are even certified hobby shops. Go sell that stuff at your store… Still salty that restrictions are placed on online or out of home sellers. The others stores just throw things online and mess the market up anyways.

At my locals, I’m happy to see 10+ players weekly when it was a couple times in the past where we couldn’t run tournaments
Mario you are wrong cuz omnipata said so
That's my proof thanks to coming to my Ted talk thank you for listening
Hey Mario, another great video, thanks!
We miss you bro!!!
In LATAM a massive buyout of Digimon Emperor, is it the same out there in the states? You can't find it anywhere anymore.
You got a nice haircut and decided to turn your back on tradition. A sad day for market watch 😭

I would guess prices are down because people are frustrated with the BT16 meta.
Just let them man .
I like stern Mario
People who buy pre sells like to waste money and just want the cards

@@TheDrnknSpartan Maybe if the soft covers are limited/a pre-order bonus? That does sound strange.
For the impatient, I suppose, lol.
I guess it works if you have disposable income/only play like 1 deck and need the cards by the next week? I dunno.
Mario STOP REPEATING YOURSELF.

Make a "How cheap is" Phoenixmon, after top2 regional in Spain, with 200 players and top Cut, really Nice deck
EX6 gonna go crazy next week. Mad excited. Our LGS completely sold out on pre-orders. Definitely the hottest EX set to date in my opinion.
I honestly believe that its more of FOMO after what happened with BT16
