    ■Japans best summer adventure
The first canyoning tours in Japan were started by Canyons in Minakami in 1998 and it has grown into the biggest canyoning destination in the world! There are a large number of canyoning courses to choose from depending on your desired thrill level. You can also combine a canyoning tour with one of the many other adventures available in Minakami to create YOUR perfect day of adventure. All of this just 70 mins from Tokyo!
    ■Canyoning season
The canyoning season in Minakami starts in late April and goes through until late October. In early season (May) the water flows in the canyons can be high and water temperatures a bit on the cool side (12 deg C) but with all of the gear on you are well protected. In the summer months the water temps rise to around 18 deg C with air temps of up to 38 deg C, so hanging out in the canyon all day is the BEST place to be.
    ■ABOUT MINAKAMI
Sitting on the border of Gunma and Niigata Prefectures, Minakami town in Gunma is just 2 hours away from Tokyo and the metropolitan area. Minakami is at the head of the Tone River and the start of the climb up Tanigawadake. Come and enjoy nature in the amazing natural environment.
It is also famous for its hot springs (onsen) and is home to Takaragwa Onsen, Japan's largest outdoor onsen.
