Dustin is really the man. Even if he never gets an undisputed title, this man has to be in the hall of fame just off his attitude and track record. Never passes up a scrap, and never backs down. That's a people's fighter. My guy has blessed us so many times with amazing shows.

I think Dustins striking is the best example we have ever seen that mixed martial arts is truly an art form. It’s beautiful and satisfying to watch.

McGregor will peepee on him again, his striking is far more versatile. Dustin has crisp boxing, but Kevin Lee still sees holes in his game. Dustin is badass af though.

Hooker's chin might be the most legendary thing I've seen.. I thought Ferguson had the titanium chin, but Hooker's might be more impressive.

That Gaethje fights commentary was insanely biased. All they talked about was Gaethje but Poirier was whoopin him the whole fight. It was back and forth but I had Dustin winning all rounds
yeah, it was like they were watching a different fight altogether. Standard UFC push. Trying to create another superstar. They were pushing for a Gaetje/Khabib superfight as soon as Gaetje got signed. DC is mainly a color commentator, but when he sees something technical he's specific and generally right on. I think that's what made the poirier-hooker fight so brutal. They would often both leave their defenses open after every strike leading to a brutal brawl to the death.
Dustin looked so different with no hair . but no lie that fight with Hooker is easily fight of the year contender

I think Conor could get knocked out by Dustin. But only Dustin. Nobody else in the division would knock him out I think. Dustin would have a 17% chance of KOing Conor. But it’s very unlikely.
@@dr.wolfgang3256 Connor wasn't too far away from being knocked out on the feet against Nate in their first fight that's why he shot a double leg on a black belt in Jujitsu because he knew if he kept eating shots he would eventually fall and lose via tko he rather he got submitted than finished on the feet which is fair enough.

Poirier is like a guy who challenges you to a game of SKATE and you accept because he only knows like 3 tricks. But then he wins easily because he can do all 3 tricks regular, goofy, front side and back side.

A few things people are underselling
1: Dustin's chin. Dustin hasn't been knocked out in years, and he's faced the likes of JG, Holloway, Pettis and Hooker since then. Conor's chances of knocking him out are *much* slimmer now.
2: Dustin's submission game. Dustin has 4 wins via submission in his UFC career(7 total), and Conor's only 4 losses are via submission.
Dustin has the better cardio, his bjj is arguably superior, and he's vastly improved in all other areas.
It will be a far closer fight than the naysayers are giving it credit. And if it goes into the championship rounds/Dustin can take him down, I truly believe Dustin will win.

Eh, Dustin got hit a lot vs Dan Hooker. Conor’s arguably the best striker in the UFC next to Adesanya/Silva. If Dustin gets hit the way he did against Dan... it’ll be a quicker win for Conor. I think Conor’s timing and precision will be too much for Poirier. I think he will put up a good fight, I just don’t think the combination of Conor’s dynamite of a left hand and accuracy is a good one for Poirier. I’m not saying it’ll be a first round KO for Conor, but I’m definitely predicting a 2nd or 3rd round TKO.
Side note: I don’t think the grappling will matter. Dustin can’t take Conor down.
@Bob C I think people don't get it -- Hooker is a longer striker with more angles, and Conor facing a southpaw means that the concept of lead-foot dominance being absent will make it ten times harder to set up his left cross. He uses his jab/right hook as a range finder, and he's done it against southpaws for so long, by now, people know the left is going to follow (Khabib and Chad Mendes circled to the left to avoid it), kinda like Mirko's left high-kick.

You can see Gaethje's brain cells getting slapped from his skull with each shot. Dustin used him as a heavy bag in that battle.
This guy genuinely improves after each fight. He adds new tools to his arsenal everytime I see him in the cage. Very impressive to keep improving like that

I’ve always loved Poriers boxing style . Especially around the time of the Alvarez fight . He became a force in the last couple years
I love the fluidity of his combinations and the variety with his hands kicks knees and elbows such a beautiful thing to watch him in flow state. I also like the pure dog in Dustin how he bites down on the mouth piece and throws bombs like 12.02 look at how he sits down into that punch :D. Awesome work brother keep these videos up I thoroughly enjoyed this.
A big secret of his success is how he can just throw his combinations from southpaw to orthodox fluently he as good southpaw as he is orthodox beautiful to watch
Dustin was a angry kid and fought like one. He was dangerous because he could punch but really because he was so mad. And he has grown into a pretty complete fighter today. That's what life is about. Growing into who we are all growing to be. And each of our journeys determine that destination. Much respect to Dustin. He us the definition 9f what we expect a champion to be inside and out of the octagon or ring

@Jay 24 nobody denies that, but justin threw alot of powerful kicks as well
One of the most important factors why Dustin's style is effective is because he is a right handed southpaw. By being in a Southpaw stance while still being a right hand dominant allowed Dustin to have more Arsenals and more options with his attacks and be creative in there that really make his opponents confuse and shell up by shifting stance in the middle of his combination. Everything in his right side stings, his jab is a power jab, his check hook is a power check hook etc etc. Leading with your dominant hand is unorthodox because usually fighters or boxers put their dominant hand in the rear to land power shots but you just compromise yourself because you rely so much on your dominant hand on the rear but by being a right handed southpaw it allows you to open new possibilities of combos seen in Dustin Poirier fighs.
-In his fight with Max, Dustin throw a winging left hand and use that momentum to switch conventional and land a massive over hand right that really hurts Max.
-In his 2nd fight with Conor it was a lead right hook that put Conor down to the mat and another lead right hook to knock him out senseless.
-In his 3rd fight with Conor, Dustin landed a lead right hook to Conor that really got Conor's attention and allowed Dustin to overwhelm Conor and make him clinch.

Just because he loses to Conor McGregor doesn’t mean he sucks at taking on counter punchers. Conor is just an absolute phenomenon. So you can’t say he’s not good at fighting counter punchers.

Dustin is also really good at shifting his weight on the fence and in the pocket. starting at 16:21 the second exchange his more exaggerated, but he generates so much force with just proper weight shifting. Its fantastic

Have to look at him as one of the greatest strikers of all time at this point. He doesn't really look spectacular like some of the others but his toughness and feel for the fights have got him very far. Not sure anyone else turns it on like he does when he feels his opponent is hurt.
