In MI we use A 1' shout under the tail gate on short dbls. To keep material from the back of the truck. Triaxle truck with A 6 axle trailer. Total weight with load. 154,000pds.
Train 13 axles is 164,000pds. Short draw bar between trailer.
Short dbls has either 5'/6' draw bar between truck and trailer

First equipment auction i attended was in late 2007 and ever since my partner rolls her eyes at me because it means work and late nights . I came across a 2006 379 Peterbilt but downside was it was put on it's side in a collision . I thought if the price was right at the end of bidding i would re-build the truck but spec it out to exactly what i wanted and needed . The truck was really special but i love the long nose conventional Petes . It it came with a Caterpillar ISX 375 hp motor backed with a Eaton-Fuller 10 speed manual and tandem 30'000 lb rear axles but sadly a painted box . The truck was priced right and the cab style i liked but not up to the job it was intended for so we went to work . The truck now has a Caterpillar N14 with upgraded turbos and tuning is producing over 550 hp generating 2025 foot-pounds of torque at 1,300 RPM going through an Eaton-Fuller Super 18 . The frame was then cut and lengthened about 5 1/2 feet and converted to a tri-axle with 46,000 lb rear tandem lockers . A fully polished 18 foot dump box was added and a matching pup to boot was built to compliment the truck when needed .
Since then we have followed the same recipe custom building our truck to meet the job or jobs they will be doing . This has worked out well for us as our repair costs are lower than they previously were basically being cut in half or sometimes even lower . Infact i think the biggest expense or repair done in the last 14 years was 2019 we replaced the box again , upgraded the tarps and upgraded the lift cylinder along with all the hydraulics !
My partner also thinks like Dauminique and likes the little single axle trucks . We did purchase a little Ford F-750 in late 2012 and outfitted it with super singles . Reason being she drives it for small landscaping loads and the super singles have less impact on the ground . The reason for the truck being a Ford is i felt it would be the easiest to convert to 4 wheel drive just in-case but that job is still pending . Have a great day and hope you found the truck that suits you and your needs ... It is nice seeing more ladies having a true passion for driving and hauling !

Yes I was looking at a mk2 jaguar for sale then I realised it was a film made by the auctioneers it said the sale was in 2 days but the place is closed on these days sat Sunday I sused great opportunities for them to bid of the wall
And just keep on increasing the price
Also they wanted to add 25% of the sale costs to the buyer plus 25% tax on top
A car might go for £10,000 you end up paying 16,500 scamming you

the air tanks filling one then the other is due to a check valve between the two sticking. Nothing to worry about unless it bothers you. My peterbilt has been that way for years. I agree on the automatic trans.

Drivers window down 4 inches ,elbow on sill, fingers out glass, 80 mph on freeway, cops would wave as he went by! Painted same color as ones your seeing there. They wouldn't let him bid on 5.0 mustang, he was under 21, back in 87.

My guess is to add a million miles to the odometer and it probably is correct. Of course they have had a full in frame just no paper work to prove it. Every truck on the road has had an in frame. That Eaton AMT is a good set up, easy on the gears when it works right.

The green truck with the super singles, automatic and air ride was probably a semi tractor before becoming a dump truck. If not, then that’s an odd setup for a dump truck. Or it could have been a gas or milk tanker truck.

Super singles are good for anyone that has to drive places they might run over larger rocks that could get wedged between the duals. That is why military trucks tend to use them. Good for off road with the right tires. So if you haul lots of bigger stone it makes sense. Save weight of course. But if you get a flat you cant drive on it anywhere. Not for everyone that is for sure.

    • @CGT80
      @CGT80 2 роки тому +1

Yep, My brother had a water truck dual explode in his face, as he was pulling a rock out from between the tires. It sent him and the guy next to him to the hospital. It is a pain to have to check the tires constantly for rocks and you hope you find the rock before it causes damage. We had a rock stuck on our 3500 work truck.........we tied straps between the rock and k rails, then moved the truck, just in case a tire let go.

Down here in California it's almost all transfers. There are so many residential driveways that you get the truck into so you can dump it and the transfer box. You would never be able to get a pup in those places. I don't know what weight you get on just your truck, so I can't say for sure, but around here the people want to get the full 24 tons from the transfer.

I’m sure they have some custom terminology for that action, like asset repurposing or something like that.

13 speed and 18 speed best two transmission on the market, and I'm like you I do not like the automatic but that's what all trucks are going to

From how I was taught the reason behind the primary building pressure before secondary is for safety. Generally the primary air is the rear brakes that provide most of the stopping power, the secondary is for the front. If you lose primary air your rear brakes will lock up if they have parking brake chambers, the front brakes won’t. There should be a check valve that puts air in the primary first then secondary, when the reach about 100-110 psi they should be equalized and go up to the purge pressure. If they go up equally the valve may be stuck or the dryer may not have one.

Kenmore- my old stomping grounds! Its unreal how much Kenmore-Bothell area has changed, it was all small farms and pastures when I was a kid. That whole area is a nightmare of disaster now. I got the hell out of Wash. and moved to S.Oregon.
Ive been after a dump myself, I finally decided on getting a Stewart and Stevenson 6x6 military dump. You get a whole lot more truck for the money. I just need to move an excavator around tho, no long hauls.

I lived in Woodinville from '57 to '64. Did a Google earth look around the other day and didn't recognize a thing except Molbak's nursery. We lived a few house down from them.

Guessing the red needle is the primary air tank which gets supplied with air first, followed by the secondary after the primary has reached full pressure. Your other truck must be plumbed so they fill simultaneously. Just a guess maybe someone can be more specific.
Kinda strange, you’d think they would read the same and fill at the same time if everything is tied together but perhaps there’s some sort of check valve.
