Honestly one of the best videos ever to hit the channel. To hear Lee’s thoughts throughout the round was amazing. Great addition to his podcast! More of these format please 🙏
Well, Westy certainly likes to get in your head, much better back nine though......having said that, it couldn't have been worse than the front nine 😒😆⛳️🏌♂️
I agree. That was an hour well spent. From Westy’s witty chirps to Rick playing like absolute dog poop on the front and then righting the ship. Just a pleasure of a video. That must have been a fun day
I’m sure it’s not easy to get these tour pros to give you a day of their time, but you’ve got to have Lee back for another round at some point. The banter between you two was very entertaining. I was literally laughing out loud. Great job once again to you, your team and of course to Mr. Westwood!
I love how Lee starts off playing the mind games, but as he sees the struggle he dials it back and turns a bit more helpful, just to return to the mind games as your play improves. Awesome video 👍
Couldn’t agree more, made it such a great watch to see Rick be so nervous and then eventually find his flow and compete with Lee, hats off to both guys.
I love this channel so much. I used to be a 2 handicapper and I quit golfing due to health issues with my wife. But now that all that is resolved this channel has helped me renew my love for golf. I suck now compared to what I used to be but I am enjoying the game again.
Westwood seems like one of your pals cracking on bad shots and all really cool. I have met a couple of pros in the past and I am yet to meet one that is not cool really.
When a genuine player takes an interest in your game and gives you tips to improve. You better listen. The "develop a routine on the range so when things are going bad, you have something to fall back on". Was solid advice. One thing you notice about tour pros is how calm they stay. Great video.
The conversation in between shots are gold! You can see his love for the game and the bits of advice he gave after a bit of banter can apply to most of us. Great video Rick.
The most enjoyable course vlog I've seen in a very long time. Love Westy's dry humour, he really did get in your head Rick😅. I was lucky enough to see the British Masters at Close House, what a stunning course it is. Well worth a visit.
I genuinely think this is my favourite video you’ve ever had. Refreshing to see Lee play just like us normal humans with a bit of banter and normal chat.
Some of the best 50 minutes spent ever on UA-cam, not just RSG! Truly humble Westy, enjoyed so much the comments and suggestions he offered. Many thanks from OK, USA!
The most insightful part in this Ep was honestly Lee’s analysis of which club to play and the factors that come in. Note to amateurs = don’t just hit the club that goes that distance all the time.
I don’t think any golfer has won me over more than Lee Westwood the last few years. Seeing him play for the love of it every week now is fantastic. Great video! Hat’s off to editors, production, Rick and Lee!
Always liked Lee but after this absolutely love him! Great content Rick & team, you guys really are doing brilliantly! I would never have thought I’d be watching someone shoot in the teens over par and loving every minute of it 🤣🙌🏼
The analysis from Lee is so insightful, his understanding of the game is just another level! Will definitely be working on getting a pre shot routine at the range!
Been watching for a few months and this video was one of the best, the ups, the downs, the friendly mind games, how you pulled it together on the back nine, Lee’s thoughts on routine and the mental game, educational and entertaining, and then how you straddled that wall on 18, ridiculous, thanks Rick!
Lee Westwood is such a genuine guy, actually tries to help as well as having banter. Some really useful advice for any golfer like having a repeatable routine for all shots made me realise what I do on the tee, irons and putts all dramatically different. Did this on the course today and shot one of my best rounds. Cheers Lee and Rick!
I really love his (Westy's) dry sense of humor, and then after about halfway through the round (when Rick's nerves calmed a bit), Rick was rolling with it even more! Great video!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I especially like the comment by Lee concerning having a routine to follow and sticking to it. I also noticed that it's important to have a positive approach to every shot/putt and not to put too much pressure on yourself. Thanks so much
Lee Westwood has never been my favorite golfer on tour but I'm pretty sure he just became my favorite person on tour. What a sharp, dry, and hilariously funny man. Great sport!
This Lee Westwood video and the Tommy Fleetwood video have been so enjoyable to watch. This kind of content will never get old. Thank you for the best golf content on UA-cam!
Lee was a great guy to have on the channel. I love how he is still willing to give swing advice and strategy still in a match. Golf is such a great game!
Honestly one of the best videos I’ve seen in regards to just making simple mistakes. I watch Rick’s videos all the time and have viewed him as pretty much at a level I will never reach. But seeing him be human and make random mistakes and getting in his own head about things, just makes me see it in a different light. I know I’ll never be as good as Rick. He had mistakes and still came out waaaaaay better than I’ll ever do lol. I’ll just keep playing to play the game lol. Annnd after watching the rest of the video, even Lee was getting in his own head about little things. I love his comments and little tips
It's so nice to see a PGA Pro playing relaxed - just taking it in his stride... It's also reassuring to see you enduring the same scenarios I [we all] encounter on the course. Well played both of you, great vid
I love these challenge videos! Got me through a 40 hour road trip (20 hours each way) when my mother passed away. Tons of enjoyment for me. I like that you had a rough game and didn’t hide it. Makes these videos all the more relatable! Thanks Rick!
Such a genuine guy, always gotta throw in some chirps playing against people haha. This video is also very helpful seeing how lee would play some shots. I’m not the best at all but looking to improve everyday! This style of video is perfect! Keep up the great production my man. Cheers!
I'm new to golf and have been addicted since the first time i went to the range with my friends! Out of all the golf content I have seen on UA-cam this is the channel I love to watch the most! Heads up stroke play at the most beautiful courses with some of the coolest people! Keep up the good work Rick and thanks for the content!!
Wasn’t sure how this was gonna come out but lee was incredibly funny throughout. Loved the funny digs and also his insight into little things us amateurs don’t even think about. Look forward to see who’s next in this challenge
it's amazing hearing Lee's comments and really valuable to see a player as skilled as you get to have that feedback from someone who can not only play but can tell you what you should/need to be doing. Really great vids Rick
Lee jiving Rick about laying up on a par 3 followed by Rick on his second saying 'right Rick, over the bunker' and promptly flopping it dead centre of the bunker has me laughing so much typing this 😂 Great banter from Lee
The fact Lee can play to such a high standard whilst having fun and engaging in mind games is a testament to his character / likability. Great video as always!
I love the end where Lee walks through your options to take a drop near the green. Best part of the video (that and when he criticizes having a lack of a routine)! It would be awesome to have a playing video with a tour player all about strategies and using the rules to your advantage!
I've been watching the channel for years but that is up there with one of my favourite videos. Well done to you and the team for creating a video that you should all be incredibly proud of.
This might be one of my favorite video's of yours yet! Love the little digs Lee was offering all the way through. In fact, I was taking notes for my group. The best one I will be using is, "Most of the guys I play with go for par 3's"
*IMPORTANT* if you leave a comment below and enter the giveaway to win the signed Lee Westwood club, hat & glove. I will reply to the lucky winner from my account. There have been loads of annoying spam comments being made from fake accounts asking people to ‘telegram’ them etc. DO NOT reply to these accounts! The winner will get a comment back from this account (always look for the tick next to my name).
I thought I'd watch half of it now half tommorrow, but couldn't stop watching. So many gems, bants, and great golf to boot. Totally made my evening/night. Great job!
Love the banter from Lee! Truly appreciate the fact that he's genuinely enjoying the round with you and hasn't phoned it in as another day on the job. Course looked in prime shape as well!
Rick, you have some of the best guests on your channel. Lee is just a top-class man and player, it’s such a pleasure to watch you two. Also loving the long videos, keep it up!
Wow Rick this was one the more nail biting shows you’ve posted. Lee really is an intimidating player. He’s seems like a nice guy but he’s really competitive when playing. I like how he keeps his cool and comments on your shots. I really had a genuine good time watching this video. Keep them coming. I’m watching it 5 months after it aired because I’m new to your shows. I’m glad I found them thanks to fb.
Hi Rick! This series, where you start 10 under par against the pro's, is absolutely amazing. Please keep making these. It also gives us a chance to kindoff get to know the "Big Guns". Not to mention all the teachable moment for you and us!
I absolutely loved Lee’s thought process as he played. The mental aspect of the game that separates a pro from all the rest of us. Rick you held your own on the back for sure.
I felt for you Rick on the front 9! it was really interesting hearing Lee talk about the importance of a pre shot routine. The videos with the pros are superb to get an insight into what the thought processes are and for them to notice things in your game from a veiwers and amauter golfers point of view is priceless. Keep up the great content and relax and enjoy it. 👍
That was 52 minutes of joyous content. Lee making it look so easier, and the odd throw away comment just added to the banter. Definitely a much better back nine Rick. Like others, the comment about the same routine struck a chord and will be something I try to build into my own game.
It's amazing how just hitting a few good shots can turn things around - steady the ship as you like to say. I just watched your round with Tommy Fleetwood before this one and it is interesting to see the different personalities between two of your top players. Lee's a bit more like Nick Faldo was - bit of a mixer. Tommy seemed a bit more laid-back and encouraging despite being a very competitive player. Different personalities on display - part of what makes these videos so enjoyable to watch!
Lee Westwood is clearly an absolute smart ass. Haha what excellent deadpan banter. I can't imagine how fun it would have been to play with the amazing Lee Westwood!! Always been a big fan.
Love how Lee talks us through his shot choices and thoughts. Love the banter too. Imagine how good it would be to have tour players mic'd up and sledging each other. Lee has moved to the very top of my favourite tour players.
These outings with the pros are an amazing experience to watch, Peek into the personalities is great, watching all the shots,,,THANK YOU and KEEP IT UP!
Rick, this series is utterly brilliant. You look like you're having the time of your life, but understanding the tour players' thought processes and getting to see their characters is just awesome content. I watched the recent one with Poulter and it was a complete joy. I could have watched it for another 2 hours, honestly! I've also got to praise your humility and good humour. Keep 'em coming!!!
Loving the series, one of the best so far. Makes me laugh how Lee gets into Rick's head. Great master class and what a beautiful course. Well done guys.
Hi Scott, congrats - you have been selected at random to win the LEE WESTWOOD signed goodies!! Can you please email info@rickshiels.com and we will get this shipped out to you next week! Thanks
Hi Rick I’ve been playing golf for almost two years and my first tournament score was 135 and now I’m shooting in the low 80s to high 70s and your channel has helped me in so many ways possible, THANK YOU!!
Love what Lee said about routine. I played college basketball, and had shooting routines, but since I've quit playing competitive bball and now am into golf, I've literally never thought of carrying that over.
I watch Rick to learn new thing and just for the content. I’ve learned almost everything I know about golf from his videos. He’s a huge inspiration to the golf community!
Absolutely loved this video, particularly having Lee Westwood in it. His dry sense of humour, combined with sheer golfing ability, made this a pleasure to watch. One of your finest videos Rick (right up there with Tommy Fleetwood's video).
what a match. Loved how Lee went from mind games into giving more encourangement and tips. His knowledge of what the ball is going to do off every lie was great to witness. Rick, fair play for going head to head with another top pro. Really showcases the level they are performing at.
Fantastic content, Westy is such a great character, love his confidence in every decision he makes over a shot a just owns it. Great banter and mind games.
The "starting at 10 under" content proving to be absolute quality. TF and now LW both hitting the right tone. Banter, fun and competitive with quality golf reminding RS and us all how good they are!
Watching Rick and Lee play this course turned an hour of the day into a complete experience. Great content, beautiful course, and championship caliber golfers. Thank you for continuing to make me love golf Rick! (I will always have the club in my bag - but I won't ever use it :D)
I really enjoy seeing and hearing tour pros walk and talk with you through the round! Loads of value in what they are saying. More videos like this please! Keep up the hard work you are putting into your game Rick!
It’s reassuring seeing that some times also the best golfers have a bad round! I loved watching Rick’s progression and development through the 18 holes! I really appreciate this🙌👏
I went to a golf taster day two weeks ago, never played before, absolutely addicted already. Don't have any clubs yet... practicing putting at home with a cricket bat until I get a club or putter. Working on my pacing as I often give it too much power on the short putts. Plan to start a few lessons soon. Your videos are amazing - I am learning so much!! Thank you
You’re off to a great start! Putting is one of the most important parts of the game. If you have a goodwill or second hand store near you, you can find clubs there sometimes. My gf still uses the putter, sand wedge, and hybrid that I found there and those were less than $10 combined
@@roddyrich2335 Nice one, thanks so much Roddy! I will look out for places near me to grab some second hand. I'll try some garage sales too. I'm so excited to play for real on a course... hopefully later this year :D How long have you been playing?
Fair play to Rick for battling on and making a match of this. Could be the start of a great season of Break 75's coming up. Lee is also the perfect playing partner with good banter and praise when deserved. Nice one fellas.
Lee Westwood, the single reason i started to play golf years ago. Love watching him!! Genuine! Followed him at the Belfry recently and luckily for me (not so much for Lee) his poor tee shots on 2x par 3's landed within touching distance of me. Got to see him play both chip shots from the rough close up!! Great experience, great video!
Would love to see the next one of these where the Pro’s Caddy walks and carry’s Rick’s bag and helps him to beat their boss with all the Banter they can provide!
That was great to watch. I've seen the other matches against tour pros, I figured Westwood would be less entertaining but he's the funniest of the lot! There's such invaluable insights from watching you guys play and talk about your shots and philosophies. Really appreciate Rick for doing this, he clearly cares so much about his game and puts himself through some emotions during these matches!
Love the batter from Lee, shows he likes to have fun on the course and how relaxed he is. These show the consistency the tour pros have in hitting fairways & greens and ability to get out of trouble with minimal damage, unlike us regular duffers. Keep up the great videos.
Lee Westwood is such an amazing guy!!! Loved the swagger and the way you were able to play with him. Been improving my golf game with your videos and I love how you make these new ones! Very new refreshing and awesome. Thanks for the vids!!! And would love to get those signed merch!

Lee's competitive humor was so fun. This guy knows how to get in his opponents head bit by bit.
😊😊
You like 141? Is that like a 7?
Honestly one of the best videos ever to hit the channel. To hear Lee’s thoughts throughout the round was amazing. Great addition to his podcast! More of these format please 🙏
Good to hear his thoughts , better to hear him ribbing Rick all way through 😂😂
Well, Westy certainly likes to get in your head, much better back nine though......having said that, it couldn't have been worse than the front nine 😒😆⛳️🏌♂️
Agree
I agree. That was an hour well spent. From Westy’s witty chirps to Rick playing like absolute dog poop on the front and then righting the ship. Just a pleasure of a video. That must have been a fun day
🤙
the way lee was genuinely giving rick advice was awesome to see.
And we get that advice too! Thanks Rick and Lee
Modern day Playing Lessons With the Pros.
And stick. 😂
Just imagine how many pro-ams Lee has played in ... he's suffered through some "terrible" golf
Yup, stand up dude. The more I watch of this guy the more I like what I see. Really hope he pulls a major win out this year.
Good sportsmanship! Never nice witnessing meltdowns... Liked Westy's comment on routines and when it goes wrong it's what to fall back on.
as a single golfer getting paired up with randoms is a bad idea to try to play some mind games with the random blokes I get paired up with?
Couldn’t agree more, made it such a great watch to see Rick be so nervous and then eventually find his flow and compete with Lee, hats off to both guys.
That was one of the most entertaining and relaxing 51 minutes of my life. Class from both Lee and Rick
Watching it for the second time 😂 it’s quality
I love this channel so much. I used to be a 2 handicapper and I quit golfing due to health issues with my wife. But now that all that is resolved this channel has helped me renew my love for golf. I suck now compared to what I used to be but I am enjoying the game again.
You will be back!!
Keep having fun and the game will come eventually be back.
Thanks for the nice comment! You’ll be back to full speed soon enough
Yeah for sure! It shows signs shot a 77 last week 4 days later lipped out 8 putts and shot a 86 so it comes and goes lol.
@@n0les443 With those numbers you could have a golf youtube channel with a million subscribers
Lee's nuggets are so understated, well timed, and incredibly informative. High praise for making this.
That was awesome. Lee is a top guy. Well done on the back 9 Rick
Class video as always. Westy is a great guy and golfer
Westwood seems like one of your pals cracking on bad shots and all really cool. I have met a couple of pros in the past and I am yet to meet one that is not cool really.
Wow my favourite landscape photographer and golfer all on one UA-cam video!!!

I am glad Rick got his game back for the back nine. Playing one of his heroes probably through him off for the first few holes.

“Your ball will go right because it’s got mud on the left of it”. Is a level of depth I’ve never thought about golf at.
I don’t think any golfer has won me over more than Lee Westwood the last few years. Seeing him play for the love of it every week now is fantastic. Great video! Hat’s off to editors, production, Rick and Lee!

Singularly Exquisite. Thank YOU Westy, Rick.
I love playing with guys like Lee. They definitely talk shit & are confident but still respectful & funny & give great advice
The analysis from Lee is so insightful, his understanding of the game is just another level!

Thanks
@@RickShielsPGA thank u
@@scottwalford1639 congratulations man!!!
Hi Rick I’ve been playing golf for almost two years and my first tournament score was 135 and now I’m shooting in the low 80s to high 70s and your channel has helped me in so many ways possible, THANK YOU!!
The quip and crack-up at 34:22 is what I *_adore_* about golf. Such a fabulous game, made perfect with good partners.
I love the competitive heckling and banter. Sounds just like something my friends and I would do to each other. Great episode Rick!
what a match.
Truely enjoyed watching it
Fair play to Rick for battling on and making a match of this. Could be the start of a great season of Break 75's coming up. Lee is also the perfect playing partner with good banter and praise when deserved. Nice one fellas.
Break 75? He didn’t break 80
Unreal insight from Lee! Loved his comment about the importance of a routine, definitely need to implement one in my game!
Best video I’ve seen in a while. Keep up the solid content!
I have always pulled for Lee, and this just makes me realize why I have. What a great guy and what a great golfer.
This was such an enjoyment to watch. Loved hearing yours and Lee's insights throughout the course. Keep up the awesome work Rick! More of this please!
The subtle trash talk from Lee was awesome! Stand up guy and amazing golfer. Really great round and video!
It's a pity he sold his soul. Not much of a "stand up guy" anymore.
Great job Rick. Love these types of videos.
Thanks!
I loved watching Lee on the channel and hearing his thoughts throughout a round. Very helpful and very cool!
Love this series! Keep em coming ⛳️🏌️♂️
Lee is a legend, such as a great vid, to see him in action, and to hear some commentary from the man, well done Rick for getting this one done 👌
Lee Westwood is such an amazing guy!!! Loved the swagger and the way you were able to play with him. Been improving my golf game with your videos and I love how you make these new ones! Very new refreshing and awesome. Thanks for the vids!!! And would love to get those signed merch!
